we don't really know why the ML initially liked her before the accident so the same could apply to him. sure she's beautiful, but he decided to wipe the slate clean and get to know her. he expected her to be spoiled and heartless for not remembering him but after the finance dpt incident, working in the storage room and inventory with no complaint and standing up for her friends, I think he has a lot more to go on than the superficial.
