I'll try to guess that the disappointment is because he's been revealed to be an official and the rongs didn't show much reaction? I don't think they care esp grandma because she didn't want the rongs involved with the Wei-yang case and he involved them. I think they see him as a nuisance who ruined their "harmony" and has brought future troubles for them. for those who are delighted, you have yunyin who thought she had a chance to bring shanbao down and the suitors who think its a chance to ruin the marriage

I suspect it's Yan Bai Lou. He conveniently saw the person that put the blank paper in LJL's room and tried to "convince" cousin wen not to expose it. I saw him smirk as Mr yang got punished. if the theory that he's a Wei is true, then if he marries shanbao it would be parallel to grandma's story with her first love

I find it funny that these comments often come up in gender swap themed dramas but no one is writing long essays for "regular" romance dramas in which the dynamics were even worse in the heydays of harem palace dramas because people are desensitised to these things happening to female characters. at the end of the day this is fantasy because matriarchies cannot exist the way patriarchy does. the narrative and visuals do nothing but fulfil that fantasy. it does nothing to change perception of men in the real world. I even think this drama will eventually flip these dynamics and centre the male lead again because I don't think they are bold enough (or even want) to keep the setup they lured viewers with to the end.

granny is dismissive of yunshu who might possibly bring the biggest disaster to the rong family. yunshu even got past RSB until it was pointed out to her that 5th sister is ruthless.
