We're all going to tell you to watch it. :) You should expect a really good story / plotline. It is a rather complex…
Uhhhh... actually it's just you. On a drama I hate, I literally left 1 comment saying that it wasn't worth my time and never visited that forum again. You seem to spend a ridiculously large amount of time on a drama you found draggy. No need to hate on it this much just because other people like it a lot.
You should just write a review! When people start a drama, they always look at the reviews first. If you write one, then that review will be on the MDL page forever. No need to come to the comment section repeatedly and state your dislike for this drama.
I’m still super obsessed with this drama so I kind of wanted to do a final review! I’m putting this in the comment section because this is a very personal opinion, and I’m also too lazy to fix up any grammar mistakes LOL
Would love to discuss with anyone if they agree or disagree! My POV is “Loves BL & Not Fond of Wuxia”
First the quality of the drama was okay, but also considering this was a dirt cheap drama I think they did do a good job with the funding. A lot of the time, there's sets being used again: the restaurant where our couples like to eat together, and the cliff which was used for Longyuan cabinet and White Deer cliff. This wasn’t something that really bothered me since I was so invested in this drama… but it’s there. Their clothing is really beautiful though! Couldn’t detect any fakeness on them.
The CGI was alright but sometimes it was just abysmal LOL. In ep 6, when they were underwater. In ep 17 or 18, when they fell from the cliff. (Ok I know a lot of these can be blamed on low budget, but I’m still going to point these out)
The actors in my opinion were good! ZZH impressed me this time with his portrayal of ZZS, and GJ’s facial expressions were really good in portraying a flirtatious but dangerous ghost valley master. Ma Wenyuan as Cao Weining was wooww! Great job with this casting, because Ma Wenyuan has just the most innocent and beautiful eyes Ive ever seen. I’m gonna admit I had to take a while to get into Zhou Ye’s acting, but it just got better and better and there was one particular scene where I just loved her acting.
There’s just one problem with the acting for me… although it might just be the voice dubbing. So a lot of people know about ep 14’s absolutely abysmal voice acting… which thankfully got fixed later but yeah that was horrible. And then, in ep 35, I wasn’t really impressed with the dubbing. When WKX was holding GX, he said “I am not your master. I am your brother.” But the way the voice dubber said it, and the facial expression WKX was making at that moment… didn’t really cut it for me. Was anyone else thinking that??? Luckily, Zhou Ye really saved this scene. Her angry yells of “Kill him for me!” made me cry soooo much.
As someone who isn’t too fond of wuxia, the plot here is good. I don’t feel like elaborating on this much, but it was good.
Also this really is a personal opinion but I couldn’t bring myself to pity WKX a lot… I know, I know I sound monstrous. If this happened in real life, trust me I would feel so sorry for that person. But, as someone who has watched the most angsty, heart wrenching, and depressing dramas, I couldn’t feel that emotional for WKX’s past. I’m not sure how it is in the original book.
For the BL… UWU THIS WAS SO GAY. I don’t have much to say IT WAS JUST GAY. Nobody can tell me its some sworn brotherhood cuz that’s just bullshit… they were in LoOVOe.
For my obsession level, I’m going to make a comparison to The Untamed. NO it’s not because they are both BLs or something, I’m really just comparing them because The Untamed was my #1 drama.
You see, for The Untamed, my obsession level went from: Wtf, I’m so confused? -> Oh this is pretty good! -> WWX BB NO -> absolute crying and depression -> where the hell is episode 51 -> post-drama depression for a year
For Word of Honor my obsession level was: DUIJNSF SO OBSSESSED, checking tumblr every single day for updates, subscribing to Youku so I wouldn’t miss out on airing episodes, waking up at 4 am to watch a newly released episode, looking at MDL discussion comments every 10 minutes -> still good, but not obsessed -> last 6 eps, wtf??
So in all, The Untamed was so good as the process went on, that it gave me a more lasting impact? While Word of Honor sort of… fell of at the end (I know, it was because of low budget, but this is really just personal opinion).
Still enjoyed this drama sooo much though so I gave it a 9.5/10
I normally do a first impression so heres mine on this drama! If anyone wants to discuss with me that's great!
The plot omg the plot!!! If you are someone into crime and mystery solving then this IS the drama for you. There isn't ONE scene that doesn't contribute to the overall plot and everything in each of the cases ties in perfectly. Bravo
The actors! I can't say they are impressively amazing, but they are good.
First for the main lead characters I love Chu Chu and Prince An!!! So I KNOW that there are people who think Chu Chu is too innocent. Innocent FLs have literally taken over cdramaland for so many years, and this cliche gets old. I dislike most bubbly FLs because cdramaland often portrays them as unrealistic dumbasses.
But in my opinion Chu Chu was great!!! She has a naive and pure nature, but not to the point that it annoys me. I find it adorable, instead of the usual annoyance.
Prince An is great too, a considerate and ACTUALLY nice guy instead of the cold assholes that a lot of people like in other dramas... for some reason. Also this is personal but Wang Ziqi is HOT. No joke he looks PERFECT :'D
I love their small diagrams they show when talking about an autopsy or case. It actually helps me understand what they're talking about a LOT better.
NGL I would enjoy this more without the romance. It’s so perfunctory they might was well omit it.
As someone who's not big on romance, saamee, I agree. But the original story probably has romance so it kind of has to be there.... im glad they didn't overdo the romance though
I wish I understood why I can't stand Dilraba as an actress. I hear all these good things about "the long ballad"…
I'm glad you are not just unreasonable hating on Dilraba and actually acknowledging that you have this reaction.
But Dilraba's character Li Changge in the Long Ballad is sooo different from Bai Fengjiu (I disliked Fengju too that was traumatic o-o) so i hope you actually like this character
Anyone that has read the manhua (preferably before watching the drama) and can tell me how this compares? I was…
Actaully I HAVENT read the manhua, I've only watched the drama. But I can assure you, as someone who dislikes too much romance in a drama, this drama didn't focus on the drama.
Of course, they still have those special scenes dedicated to the ML and FL where they just talk about life, and love, and cringy things. I would say our main couple isnt that strong in chemistry at the beginning, but they defintely get much stronger later.
But this is PACKED with political intrigue, with an AMAZING stable pace the entire drama throughout. The romance is just a small sweetener cuz all the political plotting and plans and everything is just angst, war, and PLOT.
There's action and plot, as well as characters that are ALL interesting. 100/100 RECOMMEND
All are talking about how perfect this drama, but why I'm stuck in ep.3-4?... can not move on...
I like mystery and crime-solving, and I like how this drama is at the right pacing with an enticing mystery. It is not draggy like other dramas, and every scene is a set up for other scenes, connecting everything together.
However, since you don't like it by ep 3-4, then it's just simply.... not your taste. I would recommend pushing through to maybe epiosde 8, and then dropping it if you don't like it.
If it is all to be left to your imagination, just sit on the sofa and ... imagine! You don't need to spend so…
Exactly what you said! Lust at first sight is possible, ofc you might be attracted to someone's pretty face the first time you see them. But being deeply in love and willing to do anything for each other is on a WAY another level. Gesun had such a great development, from curiosity, to admiration, to liking, to love.
There are so many dramas that have only physical intimacy T^T .... but the dramas that have real emotional intimacy is the one ii want
If it is all to be left to your imagination, just sit on the sofa and ... imagine! You don't need to spend so…
I completely agree with this statement! That emotional love is the best, the physical intimacy is just a cherry on top. Gesun didn't need to kiss but I could feel their love.
I know a lot of dramas where the leads just kiss, and sudenly they are a couple? Like wha? That's not how love works?

Loving this so far, addicted to this drama

The way Hao Du held his clothing with one hand and put one hand behind his back it really is like a victorian lady :'D :'D
I cant look at Hao Du running the same way every again :'D

I know a lot of dramas where the leads just kiss, and sudenly they are a couple? Like wha? That's not how love works?
(ok ig i feel ur disappointement a little bit i mean kiss scenes ARE great im just saying they dont need a kiss to represent their love)
