I don't know if the production team thought her character was going to bring balance or comedy but I do know that…
They will judge and have every right to. But the next gen might really laugh at the cancel culture and how people get offended at the drop of a hat these days. This drama comment section has been sane in comparison to the fights I see in others. Even this one faced a few trolls but thankfully they disappeared lol
we cant help it as it is one of her characterization. she is being raised with physical discipline as shown in…
True!! This drama has cast actors so well that it doesn't even look like they are acting and even the dialogs hit the mark. After few episodes we're reminded of something that happened in a past episode and we're like oh! just like the singer looking for her brother and today we found out who he is :(

This is why I don't like her. Ruo and Jin both tell her to stop but she doesn't want to learn. If she didn't see well behaved people (not just women) around her or if no one stopped her then we could say she didn't know what was normal.
I really can't wait for Ruo and Jin to find out he survived. Wonder how far Tu would have gone by then. His wife doesn't seem to have any power left on him coz like u wrote, his excuse is nationalism. Even his family doesn't matter to him as long as he can crush the other side.

I've seen many k-dramas where the FL keeps on hitting the ML and it's treated as comedy or even normal. Did not expect a c-drama to ape it. It's not as if Ruo hasn't tried to stop her but she behaves as if she owns him. What if Ruo really didn't want to join the communists? Would she keep him tied up 24x7? This is bullying which even her father jokingly asked her to not continue. I don't like people who cross the line, no matter what their upbringing or excuse is. Once you grow up, you should know how how to behave. But thankfully she doesn't talk like a child, which is my biggest issue with most c-drama women. Hopefully Yibo will never act in such a bad drama or movie where women are infantilized.
I understood Tu until these episodes. The scene where he hugs his wife claiming he will move out of the country, his eyes gave him away and I knew he was lying. Maybe in those days women were expected to be the man's tail and follow him everywhere but CiShu should have left with her daughter and let him serve the country. He is not a good family man at all and only cares about his ambition.
Character-wise, it's reasonable for her to act rashly the way she did. Her character background depicted her came…
Fang Ling came from the same background but was decent so that cannot be the reason. Girls like Chun think it's fine to hit a guy coz he is gentleman enough to not push back. But even her father didn't teach her any manners so what can be done. It would not have been funny if a guy had tied up a girl and force her to join the movement without caring what she wants.
It was okay at the start but, Chun behaving like a guard dog all the time, forcing Ruo to join the other party when he obviously has doubts and needs some time off, is damn irritating. I know the makers thought she'll bring some balance or comedy to it but now I actually want to skip her scenes but can't coz Ruo or Jin are with her in those scenes.
Actually, what he did was probably easier. Can you imagine the torture he'll be subjected to if Captain Lin got…
Exactly! Terrorists target civilians but Xu was different. He rightly thought it was better to go while eliminating ones from the other side. I think we live such safe, secure lives that it's not easy to think of going that route which will also drag our family down. Ruo was absolutely right about the eyes...
I was worried the drama would lose steam coz it started so strong but it's still making us feel and think.

Going into rebellion or revolution itself is not easy. The person should know what all will follow, torture, blowing yourself up, your family getting dragged into it - needs guts and an amount of madness. Nothing is more or less.
it hurts more when we realized wen accompany ruolai on his first day .. and the farewell is on ruolai's last day…
When these dramas make us care for support characters I just know we're going to cry. When they first showed the lovely relationship between Wen-Ruo and Tunan-wife, I was sure we would lose 1 from each. So now I hope the wife doesn't get hurt coz she is such a support system for her whole family.
Yes! That hurt a lot how he kept thinking of Ruo even till the end. Also coz the way Yibo performed in the scene. If he keeps on taking up good projects he'll achieve so much more

There are friends who actually get jealous even if you score higher in exam and here was Wen cheering Ruo every step of the way.
Exactly! And it happens everywhere. The rich have connections, misuse the law, they know if and when a rule is about to be changed and make more money. While the poor have to follow every rule and yet suffer. I kept thinking how the drama is based on events more than 90 years back but nothing has changed!

Wen did not go in it coz of greed, Zhou clearly did. He even tried to stop others but when everyone is minting money and u alone r living in poverty it sounds stupid to not get in queue. It's easy to judge people who live in such conditions when it's the actual villains who should be blamed, caught and punished.

So true! He was Ruo's bestie, was happy to see him succeed. We don't get such friends easily...
And we know it happens in real life. Poor people get crushed while the rich, powerful make decisions and enjoy life. Wen wasn't greedy, he only wanted to make a living. I had shivers when Ruo kept begging him to come back, that he would pay the debt on his behalf...
Maybe this is the last straw for Ruo, I stay away from trailers so have no idea about what is next. All the actors are so amazing and the drama took us so close to all these characters that it hurts even more :(
I love JJS but won't be able to tolerate SSK. I tried some scenes and knew not to waste my time. There's a difference between modeling and acting. Hopefully he'll soon do a good project with an actress.
