It was just so-so. The ending of S2 does make me curious about S3 if they are making one though. But why is it taking such a long time between each season? Anyways, I thought Heo Joon Ho is a pretty cool actor. And really liked Seo Bi but it's hard to believe Jo Hak Joo and the queen let her live since she knew so much of their secrets. And in the end, they didn't really have a strong backup plan. They were weak villains but the heroes weren't that strong either. So I guess they were balanced.
i’m always curious, like how does actor/actress mostly actress make money? Like look at han ga in, her filmography…
I think about that too. Like, Korean actors only make one drama a year or every few years, and Chinese actors make so many dramas in a year. How do they make money?
Cheng Yi looks amazing here. But it's been boring so far. Can anyone tell me if it gets better? And also Xuan Lu's character seems kickass in here. Much different from her The Untamed character.
Anyone else get a good laugh from Xu Kai Cheng's acting in here? This is the first time I watched a long drama of his. Gosh, he and his eunuch gave me a good laugh during the first portion of the drama. But the thing with Xu Kai Cheng is, his expressions, they were dramatic and I couldn't help but laugh at some spots.
The other thing was when we first saw Zhuo Ying's lookalike, I thought it was the emperor's lookalike. I laughed at myself when I realized later.
So I had a tough time finishing this drama. I know I'm in the minority here and this is just my opinion but this…
To put into context, the other teacher disciple dramas that didn't do it for me were Journey of a Flower, One and Only, what else?... Anyways, for One and Only, I felt neither of the leads matched their roles--probably Ren Jia Lun didn't suit the teacher role more than Bai Lu as the student. I couldn't finish that one, so I can't say much about it.
So I had a tough time finishing this drama. I know I'm in the minority here and this is just my opinion but this was not one of my favorite from Yang Mi or William Chan. I dropped Novoland Eagle Flag in the past. And I believe I have yet to see a teacher disciple drama that I really liked. I think the teacher disciple theme is not a bad one, but this drama was definitely not it for me. I gave it a try for the two big stars YM & WC. I wasn't pulled into either the main couple or the emperor's love story at all. I actually enjoyed Zhuo Ying and Zhe Liu more. Zhuo Ying really surprised me. They were so cute together.
JOL was produced originally by Tencent and Iqiyi, so any sequel would need to make sure their profit sharing agreement…
I usually am never one to care or ask for another season. But based on the progression of the story of this drama and based on other people's comments. I'm guessing another season may be needed to wrap up the story. The number of seasons doesn't matter to me as much as how it is wrapped up at the end. Loving this drama. Just want a good ending.
