I thought it was a beautifully filmed and expressively written drama. I’m curious, what specifically was dissatisfying.…
Kudos to all those dramas then, may the people like who like that, enjoy it. I was not watching this one for that. Maybe it's my mistake, I should've read about it more before starting it. I thought i knew what i was getting based on earlier episodes. I was okay with the balance of things in them. And like i implied, the parts/concept execution that i liked about the show wasn't still intense enough for me to stay interested.

And while romance technically was not the main plot, but when a larger and larger portion of the playtime starts being dedicated to it, calling it a subplot starts feeling disingenuous. A burger is that kind of burger of which ingredient you taste the most. People who aren't fans of sour taste will stop eating the burger altogether if something sour in it overpowers the taste, even if all the other ingredients are still there. And if i wanted to watch a romance main plot i'd rather re-watch Queen of tears.

Got bored by episode 6, somehow disregarded that feeling and watched episode 7, forced myself to watch episode 8 and yup this is a romance main plot drama with slowed down videos and ost. earlier episodes were good though. Cut my losses and dropped it.

No offense, but this review defies all logic. Sexual assault where exactly? Not a single govt in the world would…
The show made a point to show the following:
- he was visibly drunk
- Piseng noticed kawi was very drunk, he asks "are you drunk?"
- kawi admits "yes, i am"
- his head felt heavy (his words)
- he fell head down on Piseng's shoulders
- he passes out on Piseng's shoulder
- Piseng had to carry him (implied that he couldn't walk straight)
- Kawi exhibited 'i don't know where i am' behaviour (he verbally asks "where are we going" - implied that he can't keep track of his location or that he was passed out throughout the journey)
- when on bed, kawi immediately tries to sleep
- piseng has to shake him awake multiple times to make kawi either hear what's he saying or do what's he asking
- kawi is unable to change his own clothes
- piseng has to himself physically undress and redress kawi
All of the above points in show are for comedic purposes ("haha look viewers kawi is acting so funny") but they also establish the fact that kawi was so drunk that couldn't even function normally. He was inebriated.

Now about the kiss.
- whilst kawi kissed piseng first, it is already established from above that he was very drunk. Could he have kissed him sober, it doesn't matter. How much you like/love/hate/dislike a person has no bearing on physical acts. What matters is kawi was inebriated and kissed Piseng under the influence. An inebriated person is not able to give consent.
- Piseng was constantly shown to be sober throughout — from meeting outside the bar to the bedroom — even if was to enhance the 'funniness' of kawi being drunk. Nonetheless he was portrayed as sober.

Now after first kiss
- the second kiss was Piseng a sober person, kissing kawi an inebriated person
- Piseng took an active role whilst kawi was just looking at Piseng blinking eyes
- Piseng pushed kawi down on the bed and got on top of him with his legs and arms flanking kawi on both his sides
- kawi lay there eyes blinking, hands straight down alongside his body unmoving - quite and passive
- piseng starts undressing kawi, kissing down his chest.
- piseng only stops when he hears kawi snoring

To further establish kawi inebriatedness:
- he says to piseng "i was so drunk last night" (degree of drunkenness)
- he asks piseng "Was that real or just a dream?" Implying that his memory is so hazy due to being drunk that can't even discern if something that happened last night actually happened or it was just a dream.

Now let's look at the shortened version of events as canonised by the show:
- kawi was so drunk that he couldn't even walk straight, change clothes, constantly passed out, and it was so funny and comedic
- then suddenly kawi was sober enough to enthusiastically give his consent for the sexual acts
- then in a matter of seconds kawi was so drunk again that he actually passed out and couldn't even recollect his memory in the morning

Can a human being be drunk-sober-drunk in a short amount of time (mintues) without even ingesting any kind of drug?

Is the show implying with its romantic music in the background that you can do whatever you want to a severely drunk person if they don't pass out?

Is the show implying that a severely drunk person coming on to you (or initiating something) is them giving you their unchanging consent?

Is the show implying that a severely drunk person is able to consent?

Romantic music in the background and cute dialogues aren't consent. Having romantic/sexual feelings for someone isn't consent.

Consent is consent. If it's not an enthusiastic consent by a person that's freely able to consent, then it's not consent.

I don't know where you are getting all these wild and untrue conclusions from but okay I guess 🤣🤣
It's better that it's a fictional show. It's worse that it romanticizes textbook sexual assault to its viewers. It's an otherwise decent show except that. Have fun watching it i guess.

Was kawi not drunk? Was Pisaeng not sober?
Didn't Pisaeng only stop when he saw that kawi was asleep and not before?

Even the writers in ep7 in first three minutes have a dialogue "people have no idea what they do when drunk"

Even disregarding my opinion, and focusing solely on the information i added about sexual assault's agreed upon definition and consent, this would be a textbook case of sexual assault.

You can like whatever you want. But you can't disagree with objective facts.

Since my reply to all other replies to my comment are going to be the same, I'm just replying to this one since it is appearing at the top for me. Here we go:

Multiple respectable orgs and lawmaking institutions (courts/govt etc.) around the world state that drunk people (or intoxicated people) cannot give consent. And i personally hold the same belief.

That being said, here is a definition of sexual assault i got from Wikipedia:
"Sexual assault takes many forms including attacks such as rape or attempted rape, as well as any unwanted sexual contact or threats. Usually a sexual assault occurs when someone touches any part of another person's body in a sexual way, even through clothes, without that person's consent."

Now, since they didn't have their talk in ep6, I'll watch the beginning of ep7 to see how & what the fictional character kawi and pisaeng talk about. And see if that conversation feels to me good enough to continue watching this otherwise decent show.

Didn't think I'd watch sexual assault playing out with a romantic background music in 2023 on a mainstream media channel, but here we are! Fun stuff!

Don't know if i should think bad of the character Pisaeng or bad of the show as a whole and its editorial staff.

Like I thought I'd just have a minor complaint about icky interactions between Kawi & Pisaeng after kawi clearly told him no but directly jumping to sexual assault wasn't not something i could predict!

This pales my every complaint in comparison. I don't know what to do with this.

EDIT:
Since multiple people are confused by what i mean, I'm adding some context here.
My comment is in reaction to the Kawi and Pisaeng bedroom scene in ep6 when a sober Pisaeng brings a drunk Kawi to his house and engages in sexual activity. Now why do I think it is sexual assault:

Multiple respectable orgs and lawmaking institutions (courts/govt etc.) around the world state that drunk people (or intoxicated people) cannot give consent. And i personally hold the same belief.

That being said, here is a definition of sexual assault i got from Wikipedia:
"Sexual assault takes many forms including attacks such as rape or attempted rape, as well as any unwanted sexual contact or threats. Usually a sexual assault occurs when someone touches any part of another person's body in a sexual way, even through clothes, without that person's consent."

EDIT2:
watched first 5 mins of ep 7 to check out their convo about 'what happened last night' and yep, the show romanticized it. Dropping this show.

Just to reiterate, a drunk person cannot give consent. And any sexual activity with them (including kissing, touching, groping, etc) is sexual assault against them. Even if the atmosphere or music in the background is romantic, even if they're married, it is a textbook sexual assault.

And remember consent is not static, it is conscious, it os changing, and it can be withdrawn.

I feel so bad for Pear (have i been mispelling her name? I think i dud read it as Prae in the show). Imagine inviting a close friend to your home to meet your parents and whilst having dinner, the friend gets up mid convo blurts they wanna go to bathroom and you find out they were instead outside planning to ditch you. Damn I'd be so embarassed, hurt, and angry. Like what would you say to your father where your 'i need to go to the bathroom' frend is.

I hope Pear runs blocks and runs away from all these people and takes Max with her because all her friends have decided her to be just a collateral damage.

The thing that has been consistently been good about this show is Kawi's relationship with his father. He acknowledges all the mistakes he unintentionally made in regards to his father in the past and is constantly trying to build a better relationship with him. I love to see it.

Every call and interaction is a plus. Not to forget trying to give his father the best health services he can that he couldn't before.

Kawi's attraction to Pear ... In one of his narrations, he once said, that the world should be a bit nicer, so…
That reaction was unwarranted. It was kawi that was rude and avoiding him, Pisaeng had been trying as usual — nothing new. So for kawi to react as if something miraculous and so joyful had happened which he would somehow miss if he did not run all the way & up the stairs whilst distractedly missing his stuff just doesn't make sense. Pisaeng wasn't stopping kawi from talking to him, so it doesn't matter what Max said, kawi could always casually approach Pisaeng first like isn't blocked from texting, are in the same class etc. Also the text wasn't even something amazing, it was very neutral - he just wanted to talk at a place.

That all being said, if you don't think that the whole sequence isn't planned to have a similar vibe to an airport running scene 'finding out your lover didn't actually leave', then i don't know what to say.

Ep5. I think these are just badly written characters to reach a specific conclusion with every music choice, every frame choice to imply an inevitable fate.

More often than not, gmmtv doesn't know how to write bi characters & the only decent ones have been the ones who are explicitly gay before even the time of the first episode.

Did you not hear the background music, or see the wide ass grin on the mere neutral text, the camera focus on the bag, and on Prae's face? If it was only about friendship and not "hidden feelings plot" then the background music wouldn't have been that, he could have walked taking his bag, Prae wouldn't have shown to be sad/concerned/worried face, afterwards also waiting.

& Also the feelings for Prae could be ascribed to his loneliness but the "hidden feelings plot" + the ones in future for Pisaeng can't be?

& I said crush, not love. And by the lens of 10 years, almost an obsession.

The kawi's "hidden attraction plot" towards pisaeng is such a clear pandering that it's laughable almost.

Like Kawi couldn't get over his crush for Prae for 10 (!) — TEN YEARS (!) — that he even decided to make changes in past to change his future suddenly goes RUNNING up the stairs leaving his bag and everything when Prae has been constantly so nice to him and talking to him, is just out of character behaviour.

Like dude was straight up shocked and disgusted by the kiss and had been avoiding Pisaeng last episode, but suddenly the "hidden attraction plot" was so strong that he became Sonic trying to catch his breath. And cue the background music!

Like gmmtv really needs to do better!

P.S. Each show has the same rating scale — out of 10 — so we all should judge every show as out of 10 whilst comparing them with the 9+ ones.
