I am so shocked! I don't even remember who spoiled this for me, but I couldn't hold myself back from writing this comment. I'm currently watching episode 20, and the spoiler I got was probably around the time episodes 11 or 12 were released. So, here's what I learned back then: two months after Haoming and Fang Yu's breakup, she went to him and told him she was pregnant-but it's not Haoming's child. Fang Yu had another lover, a painter in England, and she was pregnant with his child. I don't know why she lied about it, but the paternity test was tampered with by Fang Lie, and Haoming had no idea. Despite all this, he decided to raise the baby thinking it was his own. I'm going back to watch and continue episode 20!

Xu Yan was a good wife, mother to his illegitimate son, and dutiful DIL. But what if she was just a simple wife with love? He wouldn't regret it. The shock is his sudden jealousy-he reads emotions so well, yet where does this come from when he never loved her or realized it?

I wish I could feel the same about Haoming, but I don't-I'm just not buying it. Just two episodes showing his past were enough to make the impact raw and unforgettable, yet his present emotions toward Xu Yan feel shallow in comparison. The moments of him remembering his late girlfriend were intense, organic, and deeply affecting-but now, his current feelings seem forced and unconvincing. Him sitting alone in the office might have shown regret, but it didn't feel like a real realization-I wasn't impressed or satisfied. Honestly, I don't think he deserves her right now. Him coming into her house and acting jealous out of nowhere was completely out of character-it was just so lame.

The problem with this arc is that Haoming's love feels completely manufactured instead of organic. His regret doesn't come from raw self-awareness, it comes from guilt and people around him constantly reminding him of her worth. That makes the emotion shallow. Real love in a story should be born from an internal realization-that even if the world stays silent, life without that person feels empty, helpless, and incomplete. That's the raw, organic awareness that makes love believable and powerful. But here, everything is pushed onto him from the outside, which makes the romance feel forced rather than real.

Finally, someone said it! The writers are being far too easy on the male lead-why should his family have to push him back to Xu Yan when a man in love should already know the pain of being apart from the one he loves? His sudden jealousy feels out of place, almost artificial, as if the writers decided he needed a convenient emotional trigger rather than letting his feelings grow naturally. Love isn't supposed to be switched on by external pressure; it should burn quietly, steadily, and painfully on its own. That's why this whole setup feels shallow, and the emotions never truly land.

I think that is because his father is at hospital. May be some kind of attack or something.

I guess even the writers are biased here, just like Xu Yan's Parents.

I heard the explanation of this movie and I cried so much. It is a bittersweet ending. Honestly I hate JCW and SYJ characters in this movie.

That logic sounds neat, but it doesn't actually hold up. Xu Yan lied because she loved Haoming and feared rejection over her background, which makes it a desperate choice, not a malicious one. Haoming, on the other hand, didn't just hide a child-he pretended to love her, sabotaged her career, and used her as a tool while planning everything in advance. Calling that 'love' is a stretch, because his actions were calculated and self-serving, not protective. If both lied, the reasons and the weight of those lies are completely different. Xu Yan's was about acceptance, Haoming's was about control.

Wait! Didn’t she die by drowning? There are also speculations that it’s not his child, but he doesn’t know about it. After Haoming and his girlfriend broke up, she had an affair with a painter and became pregnant. I’m not sure why she died. Meanwhile, Fang Lie used the child to get close to Haoming and even tampered with the paternity test in the U.S.

And yet people are saying that both are equal! Both Xu yan and haoming lied, but in very different ways. Xu yan hid her family background because she loved haoming and knew his family would never accept her real life, so she wanted to protect herself and be with him. Her lie came from fear and love, not to hurt anyone. Haoming, however, pretended to love her while planning to use her for his business, hiding his son as his brother, and controlling her career even before they met. He lied on purpose to get what he wanted, hurting her in the process. So even though both told lies, they are not really equal because her actions were about survival and love, while his were about control and manipulation.

Damn!!!!!! This is not what I anticipated. I am still processing that her mother in law knew everything but playing along with haoming and now this?! 😬 But what if hoachen father is alive?

No please don't say that! I have lowkey started to hate the Male lead. At this point, I don't even care about his dead ex-girlfriend, her sister and so on (I never did). Xu Yan parents are enough to ruin her whole life. I can't bear to see another mess. 😭

He just feel pity and guilty about her sister's death. He doesn't have any romantic feelings towards her.
