it touched me again when i chanced upon it and rewatched it last year. the two OSTs are also still so good! ♥ my first watch was in 2014

i think the FL is kind and compassionate, and also strong and resolute at heart of things she believed in and to protect the underprivileged and her loved ones and friends. other than the middle part when 2FL sowed discord between the couple, the rest are really enjoyable

Serious? Not that i recall of. The two MLs are NBR uncle-nephew, and nothing hanky panky at all. Watch the series (it's really good) and you will laugh at this BL association :)

exactly that - the plot-less HosPlay is just too stale for me, but yet it has such a high rating and even edged above FOE - thus for me, FOE is grossly underrated on MDL compared to HosPlay

As you have watched and enjoyed The Untamed, it will be better for you to watch Joy of Life (JOL) next, then finally NIF. NIF is much heavier on royal politics and political scheming, with a stoic ML and more scenes in the palace where everyone moves and speaks slower. NIF, JOL and TU are the MDL top-ranked costume cdrama trilogy not to be missed :)

Compared to HosPlay, i think this drama is grossly underrated

I too have problems sitting through a plotless 90min run each episode. Persisted for 4 episodes over several watches stretching 9 months and eventually dropped it. Would have dropped at episode 1 if not for the rating.

i didnt read the novel too, just peeped into the baidu page on the novel. For the drama, i dont think he knew as he knew Shi Lili was marrying the Qi Emperor. His surprised reaction (i saw that too) could be the little Emperor was actually not that little..

this piqued me so much after completing the series that i read up the baidu page for the novel - she is a female in the novel, which if adapted in the current filming will make this otherwise enjoyable and brilliant series (less the sci-fi element), an absurd one

There are a lot of details in each scene that convey deeper hidden messages and backstories of the plot and characters.

Did you notice the mysterious man sitting behind the storyteller who later paid the storyteller handsomely or the pouch that Wei Ying passed to Wen Qing to help Wen Ning after the Water Abyss incident was later seen clutched in Wen Ning’s hand as he lay motionless with a breath of life left in him, and even the background objects such as the maple tree, crane, moon etc and the ending credits, just to name a few.

Joy of Life is a good follow-on from The Untamed, and then Nirvana in Fire. The ML and pace of JOL are similar to TU - smart, sassy, jovial providing many comedic moments. NIF is much more serious with a stoic ML and heavy in political scheming with more scenes in the palace where everyone just speaks and moves slower

you kidding right. tbh, i actually enjoyed TU much more than NIF. btw it's not just NIF that disappeared - Reply 1988 disappeared and re-appeared together with NIF

Lee Seung Gi is probably the most underrated artiste, as a triple threat artiste who is not just an amazing actor (Vagabond, Mouse), but also an awesome host (Twogether, MITH, Sing Again) and soulful singer (Forbidden Love, I Will). Xiao Zhan charms with his sincerity and determination to give his best in all his projects - i'm glad he has come back stronger from 227 adversary, just like the Yiling Patriarch (The Untamed), and still maintains his pure heart to excel in his projects (Duolou Continent, Ace Troops). Zhang Ruoyun, may not be as good looking as the former two, but i really enjoy his portrayal as Fan Xian and now watching (SSS), though i still have a lot of other dramas to catch up on!
