Yeah same thing kinda happened to me , I saw the ratings and was pulled in but as usual I checked the genres and…
I too have problems sitting through a plotless 90min run each episode. Persisted for 4 episodes over several watches stretching 9 months and eventually dropped it. Would have dropped at episode 1 if not for the rating.
Today, 2022-02-20 02:00 AM ( GMT +1) , the rating is 9.3 O.o
Just saw this, 2 hours from your posting... likely due to a bug as the "Top 10" page is currently displaying a list of unknown dramas.. https://kisskh.at/shows/top. Objectively, it is unlikely to suddenly jump from 9.1 to 9.3 with a huge viewer rating base of more than 30K
this piqued me so much after completing the series that i read up the baidu page for the novel - she is a female…
i didnt read the novel too, just peeped into the baidu page on the novel. For the drama, i dont think he knew as he knew Shi Lili was marrying the Qi Emperor. His surprised reaction (i saw that too) could be the little Emperor was actually not that little..
this piqued me so much after completing the series that i read up the baidu page for the novel - she is a female in the novel, which if adapted in the current filming will make this otherwise enjoyable and brilliant series (less the sci-fi element), an absurd one
There are a lot of details in each scene that convey deeper hidden messages and backstories of the plot and characters.
Did you notice the mysterious man sitting behind the storyteller who later paid the storyteller handsomely or the pouch that Wei Ying passed to Wen Qing to help Wen Ning after the Water Abyss incident was later seen clutched in Wen Ning’s hand as he lay motionless with a breath of life left in him, and even the background objects such as the maple tree, crane, moon etc and the ending credits, just to name a few.
Joy of Life is a good follow-on from The Untamed, and then Nirvana in Fire. The ML and pace of JOL are similar to TU - smart, sassy, jovial providing many comedic moments. NIF is much more serious with a stoic ML and heavy in political scheming with more scenes in the palace where everyone just speaks and moves slower
you kidding right. tbh, i actually enjoyed TU much more than NIF. btw it's not just NIF that disappeared - Reply 1988 disappeared and re-appeared together with NIF
Share your view on your top three actors. Lee Seung Gi is probably the most underrated artiste, as a triple threat artiste who is not just an amazing actor (Vagabond, Mouse), but also an awesome host (Twogether, MITH, Sing Again) and soulful singer (Forbidden Love, I Will). Xiao Zhan charms with his sincerity and determination to give his best in all his projects - i'm glad he has come back stronger from 227 adversary, just like the Yiling Patriarch (The Untamed), and still maintains his pure heart to excel in his projects (Duolou Continent, Ace Troops). Zhang Ruoyun, may not be as good looking as the former two, but i really enjoy his portrayal as Fan Xian and now watching (SSS), though i still have a lot of other dramas to catch up on!
Sometimes I, as an outed narcissist, have to accept that not everyone has the same opinion as me. Therefore Flower…
While i enjoy Flower of Evil better than Move to Heaven and HosPlay, I can accept Move to Heaven as Top 1, but seriously how is HosPlay better than Flower of Evil, Nirvana in Fire and The Untamed???
For clarity, one should have watched all top 10 MDL dramas (edited in bold and underline in the poll description above) and then re-rank all these top 10 MDL from the 1st to 10th place. The premise is that the default Top 10 MDL dramas all deserved to be ranked among the top 10, but in a different ranking order.
For this poll to be done correctly, do self check that you have responded to the poll accordingly please. Thank you so much!
It's plot, the protagonist's struggles to fight evil and help the weak, and powerful messages and quotable quotes on society norms, how people often surface judge, how hypocritical nobles manipulate society norms for selfish causes, good vs evil, weak vs strong are what drew, impressed and touched me immensely. Top that with a passionate, determined cast, especially the two male leads, who put in their hearts and souls in their roles, bringing the characters to life, making each of their characters so iconic and bringing the viewers to resonate with their stories. The OSTs, costumes, location filming are commendable too. Other perspectives here: https://wukong.toutiao.com/question/6808830898306302216/. Do watch it and find out for yourself.. it's a series not to be missed
can anyone recommend some historical dramas please
All top 3 cdramas on MDL (Nirvana in Fire, The Untamed and Joy of Life) are good costume dramas you should check out. Noted that you have only completed Ashes of Love
It's anyone's guess for now for the drama, as there are deviations from the novel. I do think we are led in the drama to believe that Yan Bingyun is Xiao En's grandson.
I think Yan Bingyun killing Fan Xian at the end could be cuz of the following reasons....A. He might've collided…
I didnt read the novel, but went to read the novel's baidu page after the cliffhanger ending and bothered by a perplexing question that to me is so obvious but not answered by the end of season 1, nor questioned by anyone...
To your theories, i can share these much from the baidu page: There are already deviations from the novel for JOL1 - e.g. in the novel, Yan Bingyun is Yan Ruohai's son by blood, and thus no blood ties with Xiao En. Also, in the novel's baidu page, Yan Bingyun is listed as Fan Xian's subordinate. However, in the series, we have been led to believe that Yan Bingyun is the real grandson of Xiao En.
Both cql and woh are AMAZING dramas and both are very close to my heart but cql was my very first xianxia. For…
Don't be misled by the BL-label often tagged with The Untamed, or missed an epic series.
I'm not a BL fan and watched this only seeing that this is the top cdrama on MDL available on Netflix. I knew of its BL-label, and never went on to watch another BL-labelled drama, after watching it. In fact, i don't even know what BL stands for until i googled for it, after completing the drama and viewing analysis videos/articles related to the drama.
While this drama is adapted from a BL novel, the male leads are portrayed as soulmates in the drama, and the "soul" of this drama is not on their relationship but the struggles the protagonist faced going against society, when he was forced by circumstances to practise alternative cultivation for righteous causes. At its core, this drama delivers powerful messages and quotable quotes on society norms, how people often surface judge, how nobles manipulate society norms for selfish causes, good vs evil, weak vs strong.
