i finished the novel and manhwa’s version of this drama a few days ago and i really, really loved it! both YSX and DYX are the perfect cast for this drama. they really resemble Miao Miao and Mu Sheng.
i can’t wait to see them bring the characters come to life. i have high expectations for this one, not just the stellar cast, but it’s written by my favorite screenwriter. i hope she makes some adjustments with the wedding and modern scenes.
just finished rewatch this drama. first time i watched it, i remember that i often got annoyed with ML’s character and his character didn’t give a good impression on me. but this time, i actually enjoyed his character’s development.
surprisingly, i enjoyed this story more after eps 20+. the first half is good, they build the characters and story very-well, but i found the relationship between the FL and ML was a bit slow. meanwhile the second half is amazing, especially after they started dating. the story really picked up. it feels like the story is getting better and better each episode until the last minute. there’s no rush ending, no silly misunderstandings, no break-up, and everyone’s got their own satifsying ending.
i always love DYX and YSX’s acting. i’ve watched all of their dramas. in terms of plot, cinematography and chemistry, this drama is their best modern drama to date.

SML also never really pursuits the FL because he’s still in love with his ex (SFL). in the story, second lead couple is the SML and SFL getting back together.

i think it’s well-balance of the business and the romance. because the FL is ML’s editor, they have so many scenes together, and their relationship develop naturally.

ML and FL are each other’s first love, so in the beginning after they dated each other, they couldn’t express their thoughts and feelings bluntly. when they finally made up, their relationship became stronger, and they always communicated with each other. there’s no silly misunderstanding between them.
this is my ultimate comfort series. every time i rewatched this, it felt like i’m being rewarded. i wish i could forget the series so i can start it all over again.

this is surprisingly very entertaining! in terms of the romance plot there are some moments that i found very cute and swoon-worthy. i love the leads chemistry, they’re such a cute couple! i wish we could see more of their dating life.
it’s weirdly addicting to watch this show, especially when the ML became “the husky” 😂 put aside the logic behind this genetic-modification, the ML really did a great job for portraying his character! well, i’d just say this is more like a fantasy story of a-husky-turns-to-be-a-human kinda thing.
what i like about this story: - the chemistry between the leads is amazing and cute, some kiss scenes are good! - smart and brave FL who can stand up for herself - good SML - the dynamic between all the workers in the ML’s company - swoon-worthy moments between the leads - some laughable moments - ML’s behavior when he is in “the husky mode” scenes
hopefully ryan cheng will get more main lead roles in the future for modern rom-com dramas! his acting is so good and i really want to see him act in a modern drama.
for people who adore ryang cheng’s acting, please do watch this drama! don’t be discourage with the rating. but obviously please don’t use your logic for the genetic-modification thing and simply just enjoy the series 😂 especially if you’re here for the romance!
it’s such a mistake watching this after A Familiar Stranger. i didn’t have any expectations when i started this drama, simply watched it to see Ryan Cheng. sadly, his character is the most red flag ML i’ve ever seen.
i know this drama is supposed to be a comedy, but i couldn’t bear it when i saw the ML slapping the FL’s face (and no rational reasons for that), letting the FL saw him making-love with another woman on their supposed to be wedding night, trying to kill the FL multiple times, and simply have no regrets for doing that to her. he was immoral, abusive, and manipulative. then, out of nowhere he was suddenly in love with the FL and really sweet towards her. no enough logic for the development of their relationship. he was forgiven so easily for ALL the BAD things he did in the end.
honestly, their relationship is super toxic and there’s no enough build-up for their romance. given the short form drama, i usually wouldn’t mind. but after seeing some amazing short dramas, i guess it’s not really the case. it’s heavily relying on the screenwriter and the director.
the better part of this drama is the last episode, which feels like an eternity to get there. i feel pity for this drama because the actors did amazing with their portrayal of characters! it’s just the plot is a mess and romancing abusive relationship is a turn-off for me.
finally ryan cheng as the main lead in a long-form drama! so happy for him. almost all of his dramas are short, so i’m really looking forward to this one. also, he paired up with my fave zhou ye!!! 😭 they look so good together! imo both zhou ye and ryan cheng are those actors who always have a great chemistry with their co-stars. can’t wait to see them kicks off the screen together.
hopefully we can see this drama by the end of this year or early 2025.

why would they make this season if it’s not a happy ending, not like in the first one? seems like they won’t produce another season as well since it’s been 3 years already. cheng lei’s popularity slowly grows up and he’s currently picking long-form drama projects instead of short dramas. so i don’t think season 3 would happen.
i love him in A Familiar Stranger, and i’m looking forward to see him with my favorite actress, Zhou Ye! they will surely make a great couple. hopefully there will be more projects for him in the future and not just a short drama, but long form dramas with a big budget production. his acting skill is really good!
ps. there are some angles that i found him very similar to Zhou Yiran, especially when he smiles with those expressive eyes.
i just finished this drama in one-go and it’s everything i wish for! this is one of the best dramas i’ve ever watched. usually i don’t watch short length drama because they tend to have plot holes, no characters development, and lack of romance. but this one? we have a solid package romance, main leads’ healthy relationship, smart ML and FL, plot twist, a solid plot, no plot holes, and a satisfying ending.
i’m truly amazed with the whole production team. not just that we get a stand-out performances from all the cast, but we also have a great cinematography and osts.
i also really, really love the male lead! Han Sheng is one of the biggest green flag characters. he didn’t jump to any unnecessary conclusions when it comes to finding out about FL’s identity and instead he sensibly walked through the gaps and enjoyed all the process. his love, support, and trust for the FL are undeniable!
also, their romantic moments? oh gosh, their chemistry is sizzling! it’s been a while since i saw a cdrama with some passionate kisses and bed scenes. i was a bit surprised because they usually cut it down to pass the censorship. but i’m glad they didn’t and this one got shown because all the leads’ romantic scenes are insanely beautiful and mesmerizing.
if you haven’t watched this series, please do! especially if you love historical romance with some mystery and drama to keep you seated!
