for me this is by far hu yitian’s best series. he succeeded in bringing his character to life and was consistent with his character towards the end. i really enjoyed his performance since the first ep until the last ep.
the only thing that’s lacking with this series is probably how the female lead’s character is written. yes, there are some parts that i found her annoying, but surprisingly her character grew on me. as a journalist, she was consistent of writing such a “click-bait” news, providing objective materials that will make the readers instantly buy the newspaper. as the story went on, i found her trying to make those articles amusing. probably because i finally accepted that she’s just being herself. well, she’s not a smart-type kinda FL, has some stupid decisions, but overall her character is not bad. at times, she’s really helping the male leads of solving the cases and she never really crosses any boundaries. she knows what to do in critical moments.
also, i think Lu Yao’s character for some weird-reasons needs someone like Bai Youning in his life. Lu Yao’s smart and intelligent but has a very unique personality. with Youning, he probably finds someone that’s unexpected and “matches” his energy.
well, i could understand if some people feel disappointed that the series turned to have a romance plot between Lu Yao and Youning, instead of just keep it as a bromance between Lu Yao and Chu Sheng. i love the dynamic between our male leads. their interactions are well-written and they have their own moments to shine.
do i feel disappointed that this series have a romance plot? honestly no. there are moments and hints since the first few episodes that i feel like Lu Yao and Youning will be the end game. though i still find that adding the romance into the plot is not really necessary since the cases are very intriguing and well-written. if they keep Lu Yao and Youning as besties, it’s still more than okay.
regardless i still love this series as a whole. one of my faves all the time. the cases and their solving-problems are excellent. already rewatched this multiple times. don’t let bad reviews about the female lead’s character keep you from watching this series.
have you watched Love Me Love My Voice? i’ll recommend it. i love Meet Yourself, and currently watching New…
i think in Hidden Love she tried to make her voice more aligned with her appearance as a teenager, since she needed to distinguish her role from being 15 to 20.
i watch korean dramas as well; literally i’m open to any asian dramas, including Taiwanese and Thai.
(no spoiler version) 1. Yes but not too annoying (will post more detail in comment with spoiler if you're interested…
thank you for your detailed answers! i’ve been putting this on hold since i watched the first ep. i do need some spoilers as a reassurance and your reply helps me!

yes, it’s focused more about the leads romantic relationship. glad that you liked it! 😊
for another similar dramas, i’ll recommend Hi Venus, Forever and Ever, Hidden Love, Falling into You (it’s sport centered drama but focused on the main leads relationship).
if you’re into youth dramas, you can watch When I Fly Towards You, Time and Him are Just Right.
i binge-watched this drama in one day and i’ll tell you what, after reset, this is the only drama that gives me the same feelings throughout and after watching. it gives me so many different feelings in such a short amount of time.
i love the plot twist, they answered the questions that i’ve been thinking about since the first episode.
though i love the ending, still lowkey hoping for another season with the same cast!
It’s both happy and sad. If you are someone who doesn’t like sad endings like me, I’d still recommend you…
i just finished this drama and the ending is exactly like what you said, it gives such a hopeful feeling and fair ending for all the characters, includuding the grandfather.
can someone please spoil me about the things below? 1. love triangle? 2. any annoying side-couples? 3. the angst level, is it very angsty or only angsty towards the end? 4. how’s the romance?

oh, that’s good to know! at least we have a closure, right? i don’t like sad endings, but i’m open to a “fair” ending, at least the main characters will get what they deserve.
i already binge-watched this drama since yesterday, currently on ep 9. thank you for letting me know!
this drama plays in my mind every single day. one of my faves all the time. i hope there will be more cdramas like this in the future. it’s a perfect example that you don’t need to throw major conflict and silly misunderstanding to make a “drama”.
if you’re looking for xianxia, go with Love You Seven Times, they’re written in the same universe. for wuxia/historical…
there’s no divorce between them. as they got to know eo, they gradually fell in love and their love was going stronger each day. the ML was inspired to become a better person and husband for the FL.
i still remember i binge-watched this drama in just a few days. it was weirdly addicting though i found the misunderstanding after the misunderstanding had gotten really frustrating, even in the last episode. still worth to watch.
i love this series. rewatched for the fourth time now. it’s easy, light, and funny. if i need a healing drama, i’ll watch this. i think some people are surprised that this drama took “romance” genre seriously. it’s heavily romantic comedy drama, with a sprinkle of angst in it.

as far as i remember there aren’t any interference done by any annoying side characters. the separation gave the FL time to start over, for trying to move on with her life, she became stronger and more independent. in the meantime, the ML also “secretly” supported her business. so the separation didn’t really feel like a “separation” for me because clearly both were still into each other and they never really addressed they broke up.
yes, please do! Song Yi is indeed the shining part in Destined!

Oh, it has similaritites with A Dream of Splendor in terms of business plot. both FL in those dramas are strong and smart business women.
you should continue to watch A Dream of Splendor. i was hesitate to watch it first due to the separation, but after i watched it i think the separation gave a great development for the FL. still, i wish they could be together earlier than that. but the way they finally got together again, the scene was memorable for me. it’s kinda worth the waiting.
in general, i preferred Destined more in terms of plot and ending.
