To me, the mood of the intro music at the beginning of each episode subtly echoes Mei Zhuyu’s character—calm and composed on the surface, yet quietly steeped in longing. As the melody unfolds, it shifts from yearning to joy, sprinkled with whimsical and eerie tones that reflect the drama’s emotionally rich and dreamlike atmosphere.

The end of Ep 31 and start of Ep 32 I like rewatching. I knew this director who loves to shoot super up close will benefit Xu Kai's super nuanced acting, especially his eyes.

for me, I prefer a rich cast of characters when done right which this drama did enrich the story, unless it's a movie that is only 2 or 3 hours long.

These are very stable and consistent Vlinkage scores. It never got up to high 80's that dramas like Joy Life or Tale of Rose would get, but very steady, means the audience was loyal and engaged. Maintaining mid 80's is considered difficult to do and likely garner you top popularity ranking which it did, if it maintains this through this week, it can get top ranking back-to-back weeks. I believe it will because the last few episodes are even more engaging. I'm just afraid the ending may shock some. Do viewers really only want to see all happiness? I think some angst makes for memorable storytelling.

Pei Jiya made the list, I'm not surprised. I really like how he played his character. I think his portrayal of Wu Zhen's cousin is more compelling than the second male lead portrayal of Wu Zhen's deputy, aka Wordless Book. I looked him up and most of his dramas are 24 episodes. I feel like this may be his breakout role that helps him to land better roles.

I think some people's point is not the ranking as much as the market share %. they found 14% low. I have no idea what % is low, mid, or high, but if This Thriving Land is 20% and Moonlit Reunion is 14%, I'd say that's not bad at all because I think few dramas can match TTL given its national historical, cultural and political themes and the superb acting from some of the older veteran actors tells me they are probably well known actors. TTL must be more promoted and anticipated work across China than Moonlit Reunion. Yang Mi is very popular, and she said this role was the most challenging role of her entire career. People tuned in for many reasons but also to see how Yang Mi would do in such a row, and she didn't disappoint at all. The show is quite addictive. I watched the first episode and became addicted, but I eventually pulled away from it because it just got too heavy all the stuff that happens to these farming villagers. It's not that it was not good, I just couldn't bear the suffering.

I think Moonlit Reunion is doing well because it's so different from other dramas.

Too bad you weren't watching it at same time to bring clarity to it earlier. Changxi Palace of celestial masters where he's from has suspected the demon underworld in Chang'an. He's actually sent from Changxi to confirm it. Later, when he returns to Chang'an, he told them he has not been able to find the barrier or how to get inside the demon city, and the sect leader that's okay, you've done your job. It totally makes sense that he would disguise himself as not powerful.

yeah my search results changed on me again, it looks like Prisoner of Beauty was fastest to reach 100M, and then Princess Gambit my search said hit 100M surged late, so Moonlit Reunion is perhaps the third one to cross 100M this year. the search results can be fickle. I thought wow but still not bad. Are you saying it's common to pass 100M? I was searching because quite frankly, I never look at this stuff, but since I saw people posting, I was curious is 100M common. I was wondering if it really means much. I think it does right? The results are good for the actor. Being in the 100M character popularity is considered a success for the actor, I think.
