Disney+ has a limited presence in the Chinese drama market, so why did they acquire Moonlit Reunion? Is it because of the drama’s whimsical, romantic, and fantastical tone?
Is Douban really accurate or not? Can someone here verify?I always check Douban for ratings, and I also check…
I never saw a May release for MR on Douban but then I only check once in a while. But the times that I've checked, it was always the year 2025 never showed a month. But just the other day they changed it from 2025 to Jul 2025, they must have new info. Douban is not the official source, but it shows the latest info they have.
On Douban, it is showing July 2025 release for Arthur Chen's When Destiny Brings the Demon (which happens to be the same original creator), This drama wrapped in Apr 2024, so a July release seems reasonable.
Some of the dramas you mentioned are not good examples as they are plagued by delays due to scandals like MR, Female General, Legend of Journey so it's understandable if the dates were unstable.
Love's Ambition only wrapped 9 months ago, in June, that would be 8 months ago, even Legend of Journey is only 9 months ago. On Douban, Journey of Legend still showing 2025 but no month is listed, even though Koala rumored it will slide to 2026, due to scandal. I think Douban left it in 2025 probably because they don't' yet believe the 2026 rumor. Same with Love's Ambition, Douban only shows 2025, no month.
I think I said Douban has been accurate for me so far, But others have different experience. Douban is not the official source. Their data changes too.
Is this true? "In Legend of the Female General, Li Ming De’s scenes were re-shot with a new actor and digitally edited using AI face-swapping, since his role was too central to cut. For Moonlit Reunion, where his role was minor, the production simply removed his scenes entirely to avoid costly edits. When a production scrambles to remove an actor post-scandal, even minor tweaks can throw off the emotional rhythm. A deleted glance, a missing line, a rearranged scene—those things may seem small, but they can ripple through a story’s momentum."
Li Ming De's scandal happened after filming of Moonlit Reunion, it's really unfair to impact the drama. 🤬 Hope the disruption is not noticeable.
