The merger had to go forward because Chang He invested in XingChen. Does this mean if JX had not reacted as she did and signed with Chang He, then the merger may never have happened? Isn't it inevitable that Hanhai will slowly kill XingChen or reduce XingChen to just niche products. Maybe to JX, she rather her company crashed then be gobbled up? The merger has its pros and cons for the company, its founder and employees. With the merger, XingChen take leverage Hanhai and Dongyang. The ones holding stock will make money. The employees will have more opportunities. Then there are always those employees who prefer working environments of small startups may leave. JX was smart to negotiate employment terms for her employees and independent R&D rights so even if their projects overlap with Hanhai, they can still do their own thing. The way it's set up, it can only succeed if JX is at the helm. I think in the novel she leaves the reign to SZZ but SZZ does not seem like a visionary to me.

Hanhai executive told JX that he had initially proposed merger to HT but he rejected it, so what prompted HT to go ahead? Was it just waiting for the right timing, or he never intended for the merger but allow JX to find her product positioning for XingChen to survive against Hanhai? Even though HT is investor in both, he can still allow them to fairly compete with each other and not personal favors. HT and Grandpa was pleased that JX has vision to know how to deal with Hanhai. But Hanhai executive expressed his concerns to HT. Was it because he knows that his cousin is helping Chang He to get XingChen? Trading Guangsha shares for XingChen shares is lopsided exchange. He did it to save XingChen. Was it because he truly recognize the value of XingChen's potential because of JX or because he doesn't' want JX's dream for XingChen to die in hands of Chang He? I believe HT is doing both. He would never have invested in XingChen if he didn't recognize JX potential. He would not save XingChen for such a lopsided trade if he didn't believe in JX. He would never have gotten involved with JX if he didn't see her qualities to be his future wife.

JX never wanted to get involve with her investor but just focus on her company, but he flirted with her, and one thing led to another. JX is so focused on her work she doesn't pay attention to her relationships. She was shocked when Yichen left her. She has only known HT for a short period and initially treated him as a mentor only. After the night one stand, she was confused. She even tried to avoid him. She's only lived with him for a short time. She knows HT is ruthless. It's natural to distrust him. Trust takes time and they haven't' been together that long and this merger which is a big deal to her took her by surprise.

yep but these kinds of roles don't seem to get you recognition. I thought Bian Luo Huan expressions in SAF6 was exquisite, perfection. I like WOL for his range and versality. I am hoping Firefighter will be a serious role and be a breakthrough for him.

HT has not structured the merger like a true merger. He still wants JX to have autonomy. Both Hanhai and XingChen are under his control. He combined them for synergy, not to kill XingChen. That means if there are competing products or R&D, he's going to let JX collaborate with Hanhai. Of course, it can never be as a standalone company where it's her vision and mission, but her products were specialized and small player and I doubt she could go IPO on these products. Even Hanhai needs the backing of Han Ting to go to market. Same as XingChen. But Han Ting is personally involved with JX and thinks he can separate feelings from business decisions, but others don't believe him.

Later on, we find that HT has good understanding of what breakup means but JX doesn't because again, she relies on feelings.

HT is not easy to act. The actor has to find the balance between being restrain and still try to connect with the audience. I think HT did lose his cool in a couple of instances in the novel.
In ALP, Ice Cube never loses his cool except when he pleaded with Shanggu to not go through with it. I still like ALP way better than modern dramas.

Seven Tan's acting is superb! Her face is full of all kinds of emotions. Her eyes are expressive. Her entire body language is showing emotions in this scene. Her crying scenes are so raw. I feel with her. Grandpa was right that they would collide.

The drama is beautifully and tastefully done. It is a good work.

Han Ting flinched his eyes with fierceness when he says, "you do not". When HT heard JX's words "lived here for so long", his eyes turned to fear in that moment that she was going to leave him.

The dialogue in the confrontation scene is nice and long. I really like those kinds of scenes. I hope Firefigher will allow him long dialogues that are emotional and passionate using his own voice. These are the kinds of scenes that an actor needs to make a breakthrough. I'm really looking forward to Firefighter because now that XK has done three modern dramas using his own voice and experienced dubbing, he will only get better. He's still relatively new to using his voice and still working to overcome accent. He's fortunate to have such an exquisite voice that can evoke emotions and his line delivery is getting better and better. His voice is captivating to me.

Also, Xu Kai has already done the introverted types and cold types and his nuanced acting is great for that. ABAY, HT is also an introvert. I think Firefighter will probably still be more of an introverted type, but I hope he does dramas that can release his emotional acting, like in AMA, he was wild.

The director has the ability to capture emotions through the lens and is very good at playing on the audience’s feelings. The actors’ nuanced acting complements this style perfectly.
