In the novel, HT has no best friend like XYX to offer him personal advice especially about women. I think the drama created this to help the audience to know what Han Ting is thinking. Same with Li Li and Ji Xing. It's either that or the character thoughts are spoken out. But it also gives a different impression of HT.
Ji Xing has regrets about her one-night stand. On the other hand, Han Ting is disturbed by her quick disappearance. Afterall, he waited ten years for this, and she disappears on him again.
When Ji Xing was lying in bed the close-up camera shots of her face reveal a sweet, lovely face. She really has pretty face. She has bit of dimples when she smiles. It's hilarious, she still tip toeing after she left the room after her one-night stand. Her black dress with zipper in the back looks really good on her.
This drama is much better than xu Kai pervious drama best choice ever that was a complete off beat drama that…
BCE is mainly a family drama - the love story is not the main focus. ABAY is a business/romance drama in which the love story is the main focus, and it is an amazing love story.
On Douban, someone posted a beautiful analysis of the running scene as a metaphor of their lives.
"At first, both of them were running towards a certain goal. The difference is that JX is focused on her goal and does not pay attention to the scenery along the way (she did not see HT's crush on her). Although HT is also running towards his goal, in his life, it seems that there has always been a lack of an important person or thing (such as JX whom he could not forget), so when he runs, he will subconsciously look for something along the way. Therefore, it was also HT who found and stopped JX. JX's goal turned a corner. She stopped, and finally saw HT, who had passed by. Her end turned a corner, and HT became her new end. HT also stopped and was incredulous, because he had finally found the missing part of his life, the person he had been looking for. The two stopped under the warm red roses (symbol of passion, love, and commitment) and then quickly approached each other. Here HT clicked out the message again ("If you want to see me, you can text me directly"), as if to say that they should not miss each other like they did 10 years ago. Then HT made an invitation ("Shall we eat together?"), and JX gladly accepted it and went to the common supper club (bushi) that belonged to the two of them. What is interesting here is that the direction that the two of them pointed in at the beginning was the original goal of the other party. Then it was up to HT to propose a completely new direction that was acceptable to both of them...... It's like seeing the misunderstandings they will experience later, breaking up, reconciling, going through a lifetime together, and closing the coffin."
I've seen this scene countless times in a trailer or clip and never felt anything until I watch the drama and then I realized what a beautiful scene it truly was. After Ji Xing stopped, turned her head, she looked surprise and happy to see HT standing there, and HT stared at her deeply but unlike JX, who was ecstatic, he was restrained. HT's strides are like a marathon runner: long, synchronized, deliberate. precision, endurance, control, purposeful, long-term like him. JX's strides are shorter like a sprinter, but a bit chaotic like her: quick, impulsive, urgent, spontaneous, and short-term. JX never even notice HT passed her by but HT noticed and was mesmerized by her. HT seemed desperate that she might not stop.
So the comments shown on the screen of the site where I watch ABAY (chinese) people say that Xu Kai looks so handsome…
I can't help but notice your comment about "fairy man" because when I first saw Xu Kai in The Story of Yanxi Palace, I thought he has an angelic face, round and full like a cherubin, gentle and humble aura with sweet smile. One of my favorite scenes of him in Yanxi is ep. 15 when fl brings him soup (empress instructed her) and he is dressed down in his undergarments of white because of an injury (she stabbed him). He is bald but still beautiful and I thought he has an angelic or cherubin appearance, esp. the face and head, he seemed to glow in that scene wearing all white and his amazing fair complexion. Just needed a halo on top of head.
Today, he has a slim appearance that accentuates the lines of his exquisite figure.
"I don't want to play when I'm young." should be " I am not playimg with small bet"
in the novel it is. "I don't play for small stakes." since "young" was not in the novel, I thought maybe the drama added something new and I couldn't figure what else is Han Ting saying

JX says to HT, "Then let's play a game."
HT says to himself, "Ha, she has some guts."
