This post has nothing to do with ABAY but I love this Xu Kai look from 2019, so Hollywood. His English is sexy, too, just like his Cantonese. He never realized how many fans he was accumulating overseas. Notice how he tried to not laugh as he said fans from all over the world, he thought it was a joke, he didn't' believe it himself. His genuine surprise and lack of pretense make him relatable to fans.

I wonder if this director is a fan of Shakespeare. Shakespeare plays are famous for disguises and mistaken identities, tragedies and sad endings, and even supernatural, uncanny, and eerie.

All you have to know is that he was standing there in defiance with the pendant firmly in his mouth. Only if the pendant is on the ground is it a sad ending.
Some say we don't need Ep 40 but the pendant is very meaningful and significant to the heroine. She pawned it to help her husband become a scholar, there was that scene she went to get it back but Duke got of it first, she gave it to him on their wedding night, etc. Does anyone know what other scenes or why is the pendant so significant in this drama? Chinese dramas are like that. It's so time consuming to watch between having to read the text on the screen and missing their facial expressions, rewatching for it, and taking notes of lines that you know are clues and foreshadowing, and some clues are easily missed because you don't really know the plot, especially in The Double which is full of twists and turns. There are even unspoken subtle clues that if missed can cause you to misunderstand or confused. The Double is so rich that is should be rewatch at least one more time.

It's like she and him know that they will never marry but they are together. I'm optimistic that the drama maintained the spirit of the novel, and the essence of the characters.
