Actually, Wei Qiuzhi hooking up with Ji Xing's ex bf makes sense. Wei Qiuzhi was someone who have the same goals in life as Shao Yichen. In the novel she regretted not finding a suitable mate in college and career was not important to her. Her priority was to find the right guy and get marry. She says, "I'm not asking for much, we can talk to each other, and he just needs to treat me well. I just want a boyfriend who can accompany me". This is exactly what Shao Yichen wanted with Ji Xing but she's too ambitious and works all the time.

I don't think it matters what his profession is. It has no bearing on the plot whether he is an engineer or doctor.

I read the Yu Zheng letter about Ep 40 ending is HE. Everything he said was exactly almost word for word what I said. Its crystal clear it was a HE. XFF only turned her head when she suddenly heard the hoofs of a horse coming. Yu Zheng said so too. I loved the ending scene, much more exciting and beautiful than if the two ae standing next to each other staring at flowers falling. That would be so boring, anti-climatic and typical.

If a man can fly in all costume Chinese dramas, don't take it too seriously. It's not real. Enjoying the drama is more important than the rating, which is subjective anyway.

It does seem this director likes sadistic tones and themes, maybe that's why he built up the villains more than the good guys. Judging from the BE where the pendant fell off his mouth to the final ending where the pendant stayed on his mouth validates what I always thought that Ep 40 was a HE.

My takeaway is that it is a benefit to have couple pairing where the leads already friends before filming, understand each other and work well together. The leads did a great job of creating dynamics of their chemistry. Basically, the director is praising them.

I see Han Ting's straightforward and serious tone, authoritative yet thoughtful demeanor when mentoring JI Xing. HT's brutal hard truths pierces Ji Xing's proud display. Her face shifted from pride and optimism to sadness and worry.

He's fast learner. Soso. He can only get better and better.

This is this director's first drama. Maybe his out of touch with today's audience who want more realism that art. Abstract art is subjective.

People who watch this drama really love it. I follow the Douban percentage of perfect 10 scores on many highly rated (MDL 8.5 to 9) of the most popular dramas, and most don't get above 20% in perfect scores on Douban. WOL actually increased from 20.2% to 21.5%.

The director of this drama did a great job how he executed this story. So many dramas, the audiences always complain about the endings, but this drama the pacing and the ending is so perfect.

Every Xu Kai drama with a love story, Xu Kai can make hearts flutter. Xu Kai and Jing Tian with their push and pull dynamics as a couple is as authentic as it gets.
