definitely happy ending for me without the bonus episode

The pendant was what did it for me, also the look on his face. I connected the pendant dangling from his mouth to the pendant swaying from his saddle as the hero rode swiftly across the plains toward the tree to his lady.

It can be ambiguous but when I think of the pendant, it became clear to me that he survived and returned to her. I guess it depends on the viewer but I rewatch many times and it's pretty clear the pendant was how the director communicated to the audience that he survived.

He was the last man standing but an army of men on horses were advancing toward him. If they are bad guys, then it's harder to believe he survived which would have made it open ended. However, next we see the determination in his face, the jade pendant dangling from his mouth to signify that he will return to her, so I do believe it's telling me that against all odds, he did survive, followed by his gallant return on a white horse with a very close up of the pendant. When I think about it that way, I have a sense of closure it was a happy ending.

Why did it take a year?

This drama will continue to be popular in coming weeks because it didn't air with high anticipation and lot of promotion and the main leads were not super popular, WJY gone last two years, and WXY is still on the rise.

Have you noticed the Completed rating has jumped to 8.87? It takes time for this to settle so it will most likely go higher.

Ep 40.5, the extra episode, is confirmation they lived happily ever after.

I started to watch it and will finish it slowly. I love the whacky comedy. Hilarious. Didn't you find Go Princess Go to be super low budget with homemade scenes? In fact, there was a scene of the female lead in Go Princess Go in the same flowing bright red running and looking back, identical scene in The Double.

The director really made WJY character at end of ep 40 soft and delicate with her flowing lose hair and bangs and of course, he's into those bright color fabrics and he likes them to move with the wind.

I actually love the final scene. It is the kind of scene that captivates you and can be rewatched. it is full of beauty, awe, inspiration, and mystery. It is the kind of scene that hooked me in at the beginning. It's the kind of ending that fills you with emotions. I love how her hair is flowing upwards to the side in the background.

Who else but The Duke would be riding toward her with the jade pendant. He was the only one who survived the battle so of course it was him. Men like him defy death. Who else could be such a gallant knight on a white horse coming for his lady. The look on her face told me she saw him coming.

Calming Waves (2025) seems like a good role for WXY.

Li Meng (played Princess Wanning) has done mostly supporting roles in almost 30 movies and 9 dramas and she's only 31.

What's amazing is the newcomer actor Liang Yong Qi (played SYR). This is really his first role even though he's already 28. It's really his debut role. His next role is still a supporting role in another Yu Zheng drama that has WXY in a main role. I think LYQ was supposed to be a supporting actor in The Double but somehow ended up with a lot of screen time.

The producer, Yu Zheng did not expect The Double to be so popular, but he lucks out, collaborated with a new director never worked on his productions before. The Double has done wonders for Wu Jin Yan in her comeback after two years hiatus, breakthrough for WXY who was already on the rise, and most of all, an amazing debut for Liang Yong Qi and amazing performance for Li Meng. This director has only done three dramas in his career and in his first drama 9 yrs. ago, that drama shot a known main actress to fame and made the male lead prominent (and he's not even that good I think). Yu Zheng has an eye for talent but interested in making dramas not the actor's career.

the ML actor in Kill Me Love Me is the second male lead in Ancient Love Poetry. He's a good actor.

SYR blames everyone and everything. He never takes responsibility for his own actions. He even said that the only mistake he made in life was becoming a scholar because if he hadn't then none of this would have happened.

That was all due to the new director. If the producer, Yu Zheng did not collaborate with this director, so much of the simple artistic flair would not be there and get an entirely different mood for the main leads. It's amazing how the right outfits and hair styles, fan blowing, and various camera shots can create moods, as well as how they interact,
