Even child actors who were popular won't make a breakthrough in a main lead role until after 20, more like 22, I think. Some can do it as young as 18 to 20.

I'm never surprised by deaths in Chinese dramas. The first thing you ask yourself is which characters will die before it ends.

I know a drama that aired for 2 or 3 days then stopped for 3 to 4 days. It kept doing this for several weeks. The ratings dropped every time it was on hold.

He was in First Love (2022) with Tian Xiwei, Scent of Time (2023) with Zhou Ye, SOKP (2023), and Amidst a Snowstorm of Love with Leo Wu (2024). These are all successful dramas with popular actors, esp. Amidst a Snowstorm. which will probably be a top drama of 2024. He was nominated for his work in Delicacies Destiny in 2022, and last year 2023, he won the 6th Wenhong awards for Top Ten Young Actor. I wouldn't say he was a nobody coming into his role in The Double. I'd say he was a rising actor last year.

WJY is not old. She was never a failure. She's always had the skills displayed in this drama. She got this role because Yu Zheng knew she was perfect for it. Don't believe everything you read. Are you calling Royal Feast a "project failure"? I read somewhere that drama is actually very successful, someone posted some stats on twitter. You can't tell from just looking at MDL. Also, her agent, Yu Zheng does not care about his actors, he only cares about the benefit to him.
