Yes, we did learn that about his dad today. I agree that Keen was initially a means to an end to get on the team. I think Captain enjoys the sex so he keeps Keen around and as such he continues to find new ends for him to be a means for. First it was getting on the team. then it was getting in with the guys (didn’t he like out keen with him one time? or film it and show them?). then it was becoming a starter.

I’m not sure how much Captain told Keen was truth or lies. I suspect he was being honest and using that truth as a weapon to get what he wanted from Keen (forgiveness and the closeness to get revenge).

I am, however, VERY torn on whether or not I believe Captain actually likes Keen. I have a lot of trouble believing that kid is capable of genuine emotion for anyone, romantic or platonic. We already know how he bullies his friends into doing what he wants and takes advantage of them (esp Nant) when he can. I think Keen is a means to an end

Yeah I can’t think of another one off the top of my head either. Ones where they think they’re straight until they meet the love interest? Sure. One where they keep it on the down low bc people are bigots? Also yes. but not one where someone was so closeted.

100%. No one should watch something that makes them uncomfortable. Don’t bash a show for it (unless it truly deserves it), but ditch out any time and don’t feel guilty over it. I’ve read some comics with things that…well if they were in a series I don’t think I’d be able to hang.

Aob could be deep and interesting. I’m not sure they will let him be though. only time will tell.

We read Mew entirely differently. I never believed he was actually innocent and fully inexperienced. I just thought that was the narrative others had about him. Book did things with that character that I don’t think were intended by the writers. Some of us watched Book’s portrayal and some saw the character that was written.

But the innocent character being wasted? well, it IS the same writer.

Captain keeps lying to the rugby team (and I assume others outside his friend group) about his sexuality so it winds up being an outing. but it’s easy to forget he keeps playing straight when he’s such a dirtbag who is obviously gay otherwise.

There’s a lot of questionable stuff and romanticized abuse in BL. you find it in the source material (novels and comics) and often it’s important to the plot in some way so drama adaptations can’t completely cut it. It is the danger of BL in general. You find it in Thai too but I HAVE seen Thai adaptations remove more problematic behavior than other countries, you’re right.

They do have great chemistry! He might wind up growing on me, who knows. For now he’s sort of just “that old whore who doesn’t want to be out whored.” Though I think an emotional connection was implied this episode so he may get development if they develop that well.

Zouey with phobias or hesitation due to insecurity etc definitely was the most interesting thing. they could have done so much to explore that properly. but they threw it out the window.

I think they could have showed a lot more than they did between First and Soong, especially to make the end of the scene make more sense. They’ve certainly showed us more before. I suspect, if people are right about the break to exit out NC scenes, we’re gonne run into this a lot going forward.

Keen could have outed Captain so many times but hasn’t. I’m not sure he will. Outing someone, even someone awful, is terrible. Keen generally strikes me as a decent guy. He is seriously the least problematic person on the show. So I don’t know if he would just take the hit in his own or not.

When I need a break from the questionable acting in some of the Thai shows I watch, I go binge watch stuff from other countries. You will generally not get as much physical affection in other countries so depends what you are looking for. But shows like The Eighth Sense in Korea or We Best Love from Taiwan or My Personal Weatherman in Japan? fantastic acting.

Agreed! Zouey HAS been diminished by the game playing he’s taken part in recently. I feel like that was so out of character for him too. Like they just cannot write that pair consistently (as a pair or as individual characters).

I do love me some Puen. So sassy and I love seeing his confidence develop in the club. Aob doesn’t do it for me tho. I know he has complexity but the show hasn’t made me care about him at all. In his favor, I don’t actively dislike him like I do several characters tho

Captain did used to post the sex videos from Nant on some private group in FB or something. I assumed he’d post it there. it’s easy enough to blur his own face out and leave Keen exposed when he does so.

You are correct about acting quality in BLs , specifically Thai BLs. You have to lower your expectations and even then it’s very hit or miss. Korean BLs are much more consistent with acting quality, especially more recently. Taiwanese usually have good acting but can have lower budgets but maybe that’s just bc I watch all sorts of shorts. Japan probably has some of the best and most consistent acting in BLs but the writing and characters can be over the top so that can detract from the acting if that isn’t your thing.

I’ll be watching still too. I just wanna know what happened to Nant. I’m also actually very invested in Zouey. Not the best acting in the series but the most interesting character imo.

That perspective tracks. This is a series full of broken characters trying to patch themselves back together in the wrong ways. And I guess that could also explain his reaction at the end of the “I’m your master now” scene since he was once again faced with having his power taken away by someone and abused. Eapexially since he weirdly didn’t expect it of Jump.

re: Porsche crying, I’m actually talking about after Jump declares he’s now Porsche’s master and makes him crawl around in all fours and give him head. then he pours the contents of a box of….? lube? small toys? on Porsche and leaves the room and Porsche is crying on the bed. I admit that emotional reactions don’t always make sense to me bc of my flavors of neurodivergent but it didn’t track for me.

Man, I want SO MUCH BETTER for Keen. I genuinely like that character and he has one of the shittiest partners in the series. Captain lies about their relationship, bad mouths Keen in homophobic ways and then secretly records them in the shower? (which wasn’t sex but might have been and was just cut?) Bro. Keen. Please. Find someone else to light your fire, I’m begging you.

I actually think a lot of these guys are decent actors and a lot of the seemingly bad acting is due to direction, editing and writing. For example, we’ve seen way better from Korn and Kaowoat (Zouey and Teena) in this series than we got this week. and I don’t think that was the actors’ fault.

Editing choices for episode seven made it awkward and confusing at points.

What the hell did First do that left Soong in so much pain? Was Porsche crying over stuff we saw or stuff that was cut? How was Teena getting hard over the aggressive dick grab and nipple pinch? That just looked painful and not hot.

Nont is not stable enough to be doing this stuff on his own. Are we supposed to think he doesn’t have feelings for Prom bc he sure seemed to.

Where did the scenes from the previews/teasers go? Did the scenes from the beginning where they talk about types of relationships fit into parts of the actual storyline or were all these scenes just sort of illustrative asides, because some seemed like they’d never happened and were only descriptive and some seemed like they were happening between the end of the last episode and the beginning of this one.

Do you really want me to think Porsche is actually down bad for Jump? really? I can buy Soong being that down bad for First but Porsche for Jump? what?

What is captain even getting revenge for? just the training thing? Maybe he’s that petty so it tracks but it also doesn’t.

The evolution of some of these relationships makes no sense. not just from a character perspective but also from the perspective of the story they’ve told up until now.

they are clearly trying to make their faces paler than they are (Thai beauty standards like a number of other Asian countries favor light skin tones). you can see the difference if you look at their necks bc their makeup artists aren’t blending down their necks. but also neither of them are very dark (well Him’s actor maybe?).

it’s that country’s beauty standard but it drives me up the wall too. their natural skin tone is so much prettier.

Several times (not just in this episode) I thought that Blue was a brat who never thought of Him. We see him receive care and attention and affection and acts of service from Him but I don’t recall a single time we’ve seen him go out of his way for Him. He makes everything about himself, even when it’s clearly not. People like that bother me.

Nail is such an upgrade. Yeah he is a doppelgänger for Blue but he’s a better partner. People around Him need to stfu and pay attention to the relationship he is having.

Him was no older than like 21 in that relationship. People learn to communicate and balance better with experience. He certainly could have communicated better and maybe taken the time to send his bf a text here or there. However, we also NEVER see that situation from Him’s side, only from Blue’s. We don’t know what stress he was under or what all he was doing. He chose to prioritize his FAMILY in a very family-centric culture.

It’s understandable that Blue missed him and felt lonely, but he wasn’t even the least understanding that his bf was likely caring for and spending time with his hospitalized mother AND running her businesses for her.

Yes, leaning on your partner helps in those situations but lots of people don’t want to burden their partners or don’t stop long enough to even think about it or have partners not capable of supporting them in the way they need, which often adds to the stress and load rather than subtracting from it. Quite frankly, Blue is NOT the person I would think I could rely on for support in a situation like that from what we’ve seen of him.

I’m really hoping they get some really good screenwriters to adapt this bc I have really low expectations of anything written by MAME. it’s all decent idea and bad execution with her. but I’ll try it anyway bc I love watching Boss and Noeul together.
