The grandpa is either the grandpa or the dad (I forgot which one) of the singer snake, and obviously his brother, who was in the picture and has passed away now. And it seems like he knew the true murderer behind the Dong Chan's girlfriend from the beginning. That's why he went to Dong Chan to begin with, to make him make peace with his brother and mother. or maybe to inform him about the actual culprit. Also, he's the founder of the organization that has the symbol that's kind of related to the murderer. The guy with the tattoo was working with them before going and working for the president. so yeah ...

I really loved Rich Man, Poor Woman, maybe it was too close to home kind of! the girl was smart and the boy very very smart. though she wasn't really poor. I think I marathoned through it. It wasn't without flaws, but I loved it too much to care about the flaws. It was one of those dramas with my favorite type of characters, the ones with strong personalities that push through all the obstacle to achieve their dream. I think I've said this before, I love seeing strong characters fighting with all their might to achieve their goals. I think it's mainly because I'm like that myself. It's good to know I'm not the only one like that also it gives me hope when I see others achieve their goals.
This one is also a romance drama that's pretty light, so u can give it a try. The chemistry between the lead was amazing the they complimented each other very nicely! I really like them!

If you like light romance dramas, maybe you should give emergency couple a chance. the storyline is quit unique and the characters are very lovable! :) I liked it a lot! it had those moments that truly touched my heart :D
I agree with you about the japanese dramas, they have to be able to keep my attention. It's all good if the story is well written and unique, but it has to have the gluing capability to make me interested in it and keep me excited about the next episodes! If it doesn't, then watching it till the end becomes a chore! That's something that japanese have to learn when making their tv shows. or they might already know it but I haven't watched the right dramas!

Also the storyline is virtually non existence ... ok no maybe there is a storyline, the one in the synopsis, the most boring and one dimensional storyline that you can imagine connecting the beginning of the story to the end, that's the storyline. To make it worst add some very stupid/illogical and semi-random supporting roles to it. There, you have it, this is Cunning Single Lady.
Ahh such a waste of great actors, such a waste!

Aww Thanks for the kind words! yeah I think I'm just hitting a low period hopefully I'll get out of it soon! On top of everything, the south korean ferry disaster is really taking a toll on me! it's truly a nightmare! I was checking the news every half an hour for the past 5 days ... It's really horrific!
well Cunning Single Lady is simply put bad. Bad story line to be exact and bad characters (not the actors though, they're all really talented).
The characters are supposed to be in their mid/late 30s but they act as if they're teenagers (and not the mature ones but the most immature/illogical/childish ones). don't get me wrong being childish is a cute trade, as long as it doesn't rule over you ... my patience for keep watching this is kind of praiseworthy LOL!

Sorry about the spoilers hope you didn't read them before watching episode 14th ! lol !
I'll write the rest of it when u catch up ! Well I guess you can read the first one, but deff not the second one :D
Yeah secretly greatly was bad ... I'm kind of disappointed with korean movies, I thought they should be great since the dramas are awesome, but I guess that's not necessarily true.
You know I'm a huge movie freak! I used to watch so many movies that I lost count of. I kind of stopped watching that many movies since the quality of them has dropped a little in the past few years, and also since I've watched so many of the good old ones that it started becoming hard finding good movies ! lol ! so when it comes to rating movies I'm really harsh, if it lacks in any aspect, it won't ever get 10 ! that's why I don't only rate base on entertainment, it needs depth and complexity to it.

The story as a whole doesn't make sense, I mean the continuity of it. At the beginning when she first came back they did a great job of showing different incidents are leading to the same results. But they kind of lost that touch over time. Like how is it that the grandma took Saet Byul both this time and last time? last time Saet Byul didn't know she has to run away, since she didn't know about the scary guy with the wrist tattoo, so whoever was with the nanny took her straight where he wanted to take her, she didn't have time to run away and for the grandma to find her. so how did her nail got red the first time?
Also, when she first came back the grandma managed to start working for them, but how is it that she didn't do so last time? Soo Hyun didn't have any interaction with the grandma to change her course of actions so how is it that it was altered?

I was so impressed by God's Gift's! I cried, laughed, had goose pumps and was constantly on the edge of my seat through out the first few episodes. But then I got annoyed - only a little - with the mother's actions all being emotional with almost no thinking behind it. I understand that it's very intense and all this stuff is happening so fast for her, but she should have stopped and started to think to figure out how to solve the mystery rather than acting like a crazy person on her impulses.
Her whole handling the situation with her husband was weak, and the dad is a very annoying and stupid character. the whole putting her in Psychiatric hospital storyline is just bullsh** to me.
I don't like the fact that the grandpa character kind of fade away, Dong Chan kind of forgot about him.

I tend to like the continuous story lines better than episodic. I find them more engaging with way more powerful impact. And to be honest, the continuous story line type of Japanese dramas that I have watched are not as good as the korean ones. JIN is really good, but I can still name more than 5 korean dramas that are better.
I think I should start watching the most famous ones, like Hanzawa Naoki. I think this summer I will focus more on Japanese ones. I feel like there are very good stories that I have not heard of yet. The biggest barrier for me to start Japanese ones, is my fear of tragedy and tragic ending. I think most of the famous ones are tragedies, maybe I'm wrong though. However, I hate nothing more than being emotionally invested in someone and then watch them tragically loose everything their every hope.

Most of the ones that I've watched are more episodic. I think in these type of dramas they pay more attention to details rather than the bigger pictures, like each episode has it's own small lesson and flair to it. I think this method can (and usually will) decrease from the continuity of the storyline and its bigger impact on the audience. this is where I think there isn't much careful planning needed. cause by the end of each episode some big fraction of the story comes to a certain end, so there doesn't need to be careful planning of connecting the previous ideas to the future ones.

Sometimes I think to myself how can good actors play such horribly written stories. It has happened with many of actors that I like !
Yes, I've heard of mother, I might watch it after the semester ends ! I haven't watched many japanese dramas so I cannot be a good judge on the topic, but I do agree that they seem to have more unique story lines on average. but I don't know about the careful planning.
Well maybe first I should divid japanese dramas to two sets, the episodic ones and the normal/continuous ones.

Hey sorry for replying so late. It's getting close to the finals (not really, I still have about a month left) and my classes/hws are getting harder and harder. To top it off, my research is not really working well. So, I'm hitting a very busy with not much motivation period full with procrastinations ... so yeah lol !
Awww I'm sad to hear that ! :( Working overnight is hard! You should make sure to at least have enough sleep, and better take care of yourself!
Emergency couple was good I guess, I would say, if you had extra time and open to sweet semi-cheesy drama watch it.
I don't know which one is a bigger disappointment for me, empress ki or cunning single lady ! I had high hopes for both and they both turned out awful ! since there are only 2 episodes left of cunning single lady I will finish it I guess, but yeah it's soooo bad
Wow ... this is getting beyond stupid!! I think the writers were high when they were writing this, and not in a good way!

Secretly, Greatly ... I went in with so much expectation, the trailer was so exciting, and I was sooooo disappointed! it was bad!! it was slow! I mean it was the last 20 min that he decided to do something, the characters didn't have depth to them, the story was simple, everything was bad! I still enjoyed it a little, cause there were parts that made me feel strongly for the main character and his friends. But the moments were too little so yeah...
Oh The Thieves was more exciting than secretly greatly, it was nice, it had major flaws due to lazy writing, but the actors were awesome! Oh and did u know Jun Ji Hyun and Kim Soo Hyun were playing together in this one? so it was nice to see the pairing again ! I don't want to give spoilers if u decide to watch it. I know it was compared to ocean 11, personally I liked this one better ( not that the action was done better, just the story)

God's Gift is amazing! I cannot believe they are keeping up the great quality through out the drama, I mean the has been episodes that in the middle of it I was semi-bored for only a few minutes, but that was rare! It's amazing! I'm really enjoying it! and the suspense is done well!! though the fact that the mom is not always very smart is catching up with me :D lol !!! haha!! but we'll see! :D

I love mangas, anime, japanese movies, japanese books, japanese culture, japanese ppl, basically everything japanese. so I thought I would love japanese dramas, but for some reason I don't get addicted to them, maybe I'm choosing the wrong ones! I take that back I LOVED a few of the dramas I've watched, like Rich Man, Poor Woman or Tatta Hitotsu no Koi, but most of them I had to force myself to finish it! Well in general I hate the over acting they do in some of their dramas, like the funny ones! some humor is amazing in manga, but I don't like it when real ppl do it, to me it just sounds stupid!!!
Now I love JIN, I think it's amazing! but I don't know why I don't watch it! I think the main reason is the website thingy but I'm not sure!
If you know any awesome japanese dramas/movies let me know! I wanna watch the good ones!
