after watching the first and the second and this trailer..it's going to be disaster, even more than the preiviews…
The original had the same tone. ALL the characters, including the females, were all over the top and silly. They are not treated any differently than others. nor do they behave differently. The first one was extremely progressive with its messages of gay love, with almost nobody thinking negatively and everyone supporting it.
Japanese dramas tend to be very lighthearted and a lot less serious than other Asian dramas.
I get the distinct feeling that the "nice guy" twin has a thing for Xiang Hao Ting. He didn't look happy when…
pansexuality is something i'm totally fine with but i don't like how bls tend to basically make homosexuality nonexistant (lesbians in particular don't exist)
i can't think of many asian dramas with unambiguously gay characters since they usually just pull you "gay for you" card. at least the second couple is unambiguously gay (?), but having two gays front and center would be a badass and ballsy thing to do
True, but BL in general is notoriously bad on this kind of thing. That's why mature and 'woke' gay drama aren't…
this bl as a whole is a mostly fanservice genre aimed at girls that like to see two cute guys in cute and silly situations. all these exaggerated personalities of the cast, all the humor put in the center of many scenes, and many of the "cringe" moments in here are things that the genre and history as a series is filled with, just maybe a bit pronounced.
it's a junk food genre. you know it's not that good but you watch it for the feels and comfort when you know it's not that good
ossan's love is a good example of a gay drama done right. it maintains the silliness and jokes bl fans aim for but is marketed towards an older audience and has way higher production values. i don't know what people are expecting from bls tbh
I really appreciate that there's no, like, gay panic in this (or the HIStory series in general, those that I've…
HiStory tends to avoid all the melodrama and they usually skip the "discovering their sexuality phase" altogether which noticeably speeds things up, even if they avoid using the word 'gay" or outright stating one's sexuality.
That said, I like that they don't really dwell on things like that so things don't feel dragged down with internal conflict more than the main external conflict.
Funny how people already hate Sun bc of that forced kiss (that actually came with consequences and from which…
yeah, it's weird how sometimes sexual harassment is "cute teasing" and sometimes it's the worst thing in the world
i like that there are actual consequences besides "lol dude that's not okay" but i'm curious how a relationship will realistically come back from a bad start like that without feeling forced, though in the latest trailer it looks like there'll be another rejection which sounds good
also i could sense a crush as well but nothing as really come of it past that one altercation scene
Do people not realize Sun and Haoting are young? Who didn't do stupid shit at that ageanyway characters are allowed…
i think people expect everyone in bls to be their definition of a perfect man when the flaws, when written well, are what make them interesting
i think if the relationship takes a sudden u-turn and lu becomes smitten with him it'll come off as weird since i think being turned down and accepting it would be a much more interesting growth sun can go through when bls tend to either be really happy or really depressing
well of course they become a thing... they're the second couple of the series... >.>
disappointing then
i guess a character feeling bad after doing something shitty is reason enough to fall for them
are we to believe that the person with lu in the car is his boyfriend or just a friend, anyways? if it's just a friend my opinion would differ a little bit
i think the theories are highly likely not just because of the ominous title + the infirmary scene, but also the…
Ehh, I don't buy any of the theories. Even Trapped, the one with gangsters ad death, was mostly over the top and the ending was lightly bittersweet. The series has generally avoided super serious and sad endings so I have no reason to expect anything of the sort here, even with the potentially foreboding title.
Kind of generic first two eps. It's probably the first time I see a third-wheel female role that was purposely…
Most BLs tend to do the "you love who you love" approach instead of having outright gay characters. There are exceptions (in the series as a whole and this season even) but a lot of Asian shows don't really make characters outwardly gay. I'm assuming that's the case with the main couple, but who knows.
That said, fuck the "mean girlfirend" trope that makes every female out to be some evil monster that latches onto men for their own desire. BLs are full of cliches and I've accepted that, but this trope is so lame.
With how most BLs still struggle to be any good and are full of tired and dumb tropes, the later History stories are nice. Wish there could be some slightly more adult ones that aren't overly depressing with extremely negative endings. Maybe I'm too old for the genre but I wish there were more that focused on adults.
Am I the only one bored by the angel gang??? Like we have 3 episode left and they gave more time to them that…
BLs just need to have comic relief that overstays its welcome. Bad comic relief and occasional stilted voice acting and production values hurt the genre a lot.
You can't have BLs without the over-the-top flamboyant gay side characters that detract from every scene they're in.

the series is about the same as the original in quality
it's about as entertaining with a worse theme song

i hope a "i'm sorry but i'm already with someone else/you're too immature" response will come up but knowing bls they love the age gap trope to death

always felt the show could've used an extra bit of story after the ending
