i don't actually mind the tincan ending because they didn't have any chemistry
would've felt more like a forced ending if they got together, but i guess a "i'll try out dating but no physical contact" ending would've been appropriate
luckily i don't have to care about the way the fourth couple ended because there is literally no reason to care about them
Generally, BL isn't even that good tbh. Love By Chance is fine since it doesn't really attempt drama or any sort…
It probably won't let you enjoy it if the age gap bothers you, but Right or Wrong definitely has a happy ending. One of the happiest I've seen in BLs, actually.
I don't mind age gaps, but I despise sad endings. Long Time No See is a bit too short and kinda silly with the whole gangster drama but man I'm a sucker for happy endings. I liked Ossan's Love a lot because it's very vibrant, silly, and has an extremely uplifting ending (and a great theme song) that made me forgive its indecisive MC. I wish BLs would give gays the happy ending we want to see more often. I can usually forgive BLs if their endings are good, and usually sad endings usually kill my love of a series entirely. "Fake Marriage" is a weird one because it's ending isn't sad but instead has a really confused message about platonic love. It was very uplifting about LGBT too and had extremely powerful messages about how gays are just as good parents as straights and stuff, but the ending irks me the wrong way even if it's a happy one.
I can't wait for BLs to finally be about gay characters in a gay relationship instead of just simple coming to terms with their sexuality or falling. I want to see gays interact as a couple, go through financial struggles as a couple, go through tough times as a couple, etc. Coming out plots can certainly be strong, but I think watching an already-established relationship overcome trials is more interesting and not nearly as overdone.
Anyways, thanks for replying. Most people in comment sections don't take the time to articulate on anything on discuss anything, especially on a dated reply. Much appreciated.
"Just ignore half the episode" is such a dumb statement. Why do you even care if people don't like what you like?…
How the hell is being critical of the character _in the show_ hating on the actor? When the hell did I ever criticize the actor IRL?
I don't think you know what "hate" is. Yes, it's awful when there are actual haters IRL that attack celebrities, stalk them, and flood their social media with cursing and swears. That's what hate actually is. Being critical of characters on a drama website's comment section is not hate. It's being critical.
I think you're one of those people that refers to any criticism of things you like as hate when I have absolutely never criticised the actors themselves or insulted them in any way. Save your complaints for actual hate, please. Don't tell people that their criticism is disgusting and don't distort their criticism in a way that makes them look to be of malicious intent.
Logged in here to read spoilers and satisfy my LBC heart only to come across hate towards TINCAN. Like wtf is…
"Just ignore half the episode" is such a dumb statement. Why do you even care if people don't like what you like? Why shouldn't they complain? Why shouldn't they watch and hope it improves? It's such a childish argument.
I think there's a problem when you're actively mad at differing opinions on the comment section of a drama website. If you can't handle differing opinions of characters on a drama board, I don't know why the hell you're here. You say 'nobody's forcing you" yet you're extremely mad when we don't like the ship. We're not obligated to only post comments you like, and it's pretty disgusting that you're so worked up over absolutely nothing.
With one episode to go and no resolution for S2 how will Tum Tar be resolved? This is why Sotus and Sotus S kept…
i don't like how the writers basically forced them out of nowhere at the very end of the season after barely showing them throughout the entirety of the season
not only will there be a cliffhanger, but it's a cliffhanger for an extremely underdeveloped and uninteresting pairing that the cliffhanger will do absolutely nothing to draw my interest they really should've saved them for s2; they're so disconnected from everything else that i have an extremely hard time caring about them
I know this has nothing to do with LBC, but I don't know how many people knew.....This is a new BL coming out…
wow, bls sure do love using the same 6 actors over and over again
looks decent (for bl standards) and it could be pretty good as long as they use situational irony and comedy more and steer away from wishywashy characters
Guysss i want to watch a new bl series any suggestions i have watched sooooo many of them so i can't find any…
The History series is probably the ost wellrounded Taiwan BL series. They're short, sweet, have solid production values and acting, and don't dance around homosexuality like a lot of BLs. Characters don't deny their sexuality and there's realism in people who are supportive and against it. Characters don't drag arguments out for extended periods of times and the conflict is generally contained within the characters instead of having forced external forces. Characters feel realistic in general, but there's plenty of light humor sprinkled around with strong messages and feelgood moments.
The Lover is fine but you should be aware that the BL couple is given very little screentime. The straight couples are generally interesting though, but if you aren't as interested in them then I wouldn't say it's worth watching just for the BL.
Falling in Love With a Rival is decent I guess. The production values are a bit off in spots and it's pretty short, but for China BL standards it's solid.
I wish Japanese BL was a bit better. I really liked Fake Couple even if its ending felt a bit confused. It's very proLGBT but the ending just comes off as kind of strange and unnecessary.
It can't be part of the "Bad Romance" series without having characters make stupid decisions all the time. It's…
I dunno. I'm one that doesn't mind changes made in an adaption if it's for the better. While I can blame the creator of the novel for the dumb turns the character make in the series, I think the TV series can at least make the characters more endearing and personable through their dialogue at the very least.
Oh my god. It is probably so bad of me, but I teared up when Bright turned down that patient guy and said he had…
It can't be part of the "Bad Romance" series without having characters make stupid decisions all the time.
It's such a shame that a series with high presentation values and an attractive cast can be bogged down tremendously by questionable writing and unlikable characters. The characters are just so dumb or unwilling to communicate that I just get frustrated by whatever they do and lose interest. It's even worse that these are all issues that plagued the characters in the other seasons and none of the characters seemed to have developed at all. Of course, with the stupid endings the series tends to pull the characters have no need to develop because some random third party will connect them together in the end without the characters having to develop and solve things on their own.
Man, why BL / BL side stories either have to involve rape or age-gap?! I seriously don't think an old person macking…
Generally, BL isn't even that good tbh. Love By Chance is fine since it doesn't really attempt drama or any sort of complex story (for now anyways), but I wouldn't say it's amazing or anything. Just a safe and enjoyable series that avoids a lot of the garbage tropes that plague BLs as a whole but it's kind of shallow. I think it's one of the better BLs, but it doesn't have much to compete with since good BL is pretty uncommon. I was actually shocked when LBC didn't stall the relationship of the main pair like most BLs and made them a couple very quickly without trudging over sappy bullcrap with a million misunderstandings.
I haven't seen many Taiwan BLs outside of the History series and it's pretty good. It interestingly does have an age gap so I wonder what your opinion of it is if you've seen it. Dark Blue and Moonlight was fine up until the second half where I started to hate the main characters and thought their actions were all really dumb. From what I've seen Taiwan is like China in that it loves melodrama but it tends be be happier more often than not.
While I can see why an age gap could be weird, I never understood the complaints towards the trope when both characters are of consenting ages. I think it's a pretty forgivable cliche compared to all the dumb shit you find in BLs on a regular basis. I'd take it 100% over Thai's "evil girlfriends" and annoying and indecisive characters or Korea's and China's insistence of having gays die at the last second in movies.
I definitely agree that ALL parts of the world need better gay TV shows, since I'm tired of the "gays are all sluts" trope the US tends to show. It's 2018 and gay character are all the same tropes and have an inability to have actual relationships. I can forgive Asia a little bit but I expected America of all places to have better depictions.
the step brothers still feel completely separated from everyone else
apparently they're added in the tv adaption but their complete disconnection from everything and everyone else makes me have no interest in them at all, and i would've liked if they waited until a fresh season to introduce them it's weird in general that so many characters were introduced so early when most of them are borderline nonexistent and are clearly put on hold until season 2
i like the tincan stuff despite its predictable nature and i'm glad they're finally getting major focus
I've never rated anything a 10. Even Ossan's Love, which I absolutely loved. 10 is too hard for something to achieve, but that might just be my high expectations. I feel like most people rate in a way that anything below an 8 is awful.
Bad endings usually are dealbreakers for me. For example, I really liked Cheese in The Trap and my ignorance on the original made me not care for the supposed "dramatic narrative changes" a lot of people criticize it for. However, the ending of the final episode felt like total regressions of the mcs that I ended up finishing the show on a very sour note. I despise melodrama and random depressing endings. i also find forced antagonists really dumb. BLs and romances have these a lot, and it feels like the writers are too scared to have emotional conflicts so they need to introduce a Disney-esque villain to keep the ball rolling. I also heavily dislike unnecessary love triangles, hence why I felt the later half of Reply 1997 was fairly weak despite everything else being very strong.
I honestly don't really care what I watch as long as it's good. I don't mind watching shallow dramas as long as I get "feels" or and the characters entertaining. I dropped a few shows like Secret Garden due to the overbearing amount of cliches, but I don't really mind them unless the show goes overboard.
...Anyways, I think the reasons a lot of people downvote can be a bit silly. I saw someone give a BL a 1/10 because the sex scenes demonized gay relationships. I see a lot of people downvote adaptions for replacing an actor from the original source. I don't really care if people dislike something I like, but I hate when they irrationally hate for shallow reasons.
i didn't feel like the secondary male lead took over the second half like a lot of people say
that said, i'm not a fan of the ending and the decision seol made the last episode felt like it tried to have so many plot points at once and couldn't fit them all in, and i feel like jung's growth ended up being for nothing in the end
would've felt more like a forced ending if they got together, but i guess a "i'll try out dating but no physical contact" ending would've been appropriate
luckily i don't have to care about the way the fourth couple ended because there is literally no reason to care about them

i'd definitely prefer the gay relationships ending since they can still be bffs, so the "i drop my lover for my best friend" is kinda lame

a solid 7.5 and i wish more "feels good" gay dramas would come out of korea

i expected it to be more about relationships than mysterious powerful rings and a gendershifting character
