I actually quite liked his character so far…seems both too cruel and violent but also really attached to his brother.

My guess is more like she doesn’t want to be a “princess” and take on a princess responsibilities. When Hei Feng Xi mentions the poem she wrote as the princess she appeared to be trying to avoid the issue.
