Unpopular opinion here but…I actually quite like the third prince (Ju)! I mean, he’s the antagonist and all but he’s really smart and really good at switching faces. Totally believable! Kudos to the actor.

In the novel she often used to switch places with her sickly older brother. Once she wanted to get out of a social engagement and had her brother go instead of her but he was very weak and fainted. That started the rumor of BFX (the princess, not the jianghu heroine) being often sick and bedridden. With this excuse she was basically never seen at official functions since the age of 12 I believe, which is when she started roaming the jianghu. Between the differences due to age and the fact that generally speaking there were few occasions for royals to meet each other (no FB or IG for that matter 🤣) it makes sense that nobody truly knows what the princess looks like.

No sure when but checking from the latest 2 trailers (esp the “romantic” one) my guess is that it should happen in the first half of the storyline (before the entire political intrigue and war between states starts in earnest)

Just came to my mind but…did you ever try the Story of Ming Lan? Definitely no wuxia or magic. A tiny bit more slice of life but it’s brilliant! Then you can also check the Autumn Ballad. Hope you find something you like!
