I wish this drama won't have some sort of magical make over that would make her look uber pretty in the end. It…
First of all, I did not say that a person that likes to take care of himself/herself is superficial, they are completely free to do so if they feel good doing it; what I call superficial is how people that don't have the same standards for themselves are percieved by others. THAT is superficial.
This is where the problem stands with what you said. It is not obvious. She showed to be hurt when other people treat her the way they treat her because of her appearance, yes, and she acknowledged that sometimes she would like to exchange her body with Ha Ri, but is she just ignoring the problem? Or is she hurt because the world spins like that and other people request her to be in some particular way that she is not? If she wanted to change why didn't she ask for help all this time if the current her is not how she, normally, wants to be? And if she didn't do it because of some sense of pride or because she just simply does not care: Why didn't Ha Ri come to her and say "I'm hurt seeing you hurt. Why don't you let me fix yourself to feel better?". Drama likes to ignore this possiblity or give any explanation. And even when she did try to take care of herself using make up BECAUSE other people requested that of her, she failed. But she still did not ask for any help or cry that she's "ugly", she just moved on, continuing to be the way she is, her goofy and hard working self. Again, is she ignoring the problem? Or the standards of the people around her are the problem? I would think the drama would try to focus more on her "pain", if she really dislikes it. But it is not. Of course, unless the drama is being stupid here and just ignoring the possibility of Hye Jin actually asking for help from Ha Ri (or anybody) to help her fix herself because "plot convenience" and "Prince charming" has to come in to do it for her, again because "plot convenience". Then I have nothing to say about that, just that it seriously sucks if it's like that.
Oh and if a person is not happy with how they look but he/she does nothing about it, yes I agree with you, that's frustrating for the person in question and frustrating for us to watch, but I don't think this is the case here....But we'll see. Overall, I just wish for something different. I don't condemn those that like taking care of themselves, but i do not think that the use of make-up or hair care or whatever is necessary. I am myself a person that doesn't often use make-up, but I'm perfectly happy the way I am. If people like me then they should like me under all my forms, with make-up, no make-up, whatever. In the end it's my decision. Also, her red cheeks are something also her father has and, I must be sincere, I'm not familiar with what it is, but if it's something that might hurt her (or maybe it's some sort of pigmentation issue?),by all means I agree that she should at least take care of that. But for the rest, she's perfectly fine the way she is!

Unfortunately, it's true, that's reality. But that doesn't make it any more right and any less superficial. If somebody just simply doesn't want to use make-up or fancy hair products, does that make that person any less worthy than any other? Of course, here I'm not saying that people must look like beggars; I would have agreed with you if she didn't care to wash up or just have that basic care of her hygiene that's needed for her own health too. I would have also agreed with you if she was fat and liked to eat because that would have turned into a "sickness" and not even remotely would have been a good example.(I must make the difference between those that are fat because of health problems and those that are just fat because they tend to ignore the problem, though; it's important to specify). Make-up and trendy clothes can raise the self-estheem, mostly in case of a woman, but that's an extra; if a person is perfectly okay the way they are, then why should they change? Because they have to fill in some role? Fit the current social conventions? Do it because that's what other people do? Mix in because that's what society demands? No, everybody should have the choice to choose and live how they want to live, with the face that they want to have and people should start accepting other people more because of what they have and what they give instead of how they look (whether it's a classy, goth, punk, no-make-up type of person) and I really hope this drama will end up giving this message; it's a good method to start thinking about the core of the problem. And the thing about "prince charming", yeah, people in general tend to go for people that they physically feel attracted to, but in the end, in a serious relationship, it's the personality that matters the most, whether you can or cannot spend time with that person and looks won't save you forever. Believe me when I say that "love" can make a swan out of an ugly duckling in the eyes of a person that's in love with their partner. And I know that from personal experience. XD - put this in Spoiler because it's long.
I wish this drama won't have some sort of magical make over that would make her look uber pretty in the end. It won't be a good message and sincerely, Hye Jin is the way we see her. Why giving her another face ? It would only once again confirm that looks are more important than "essence", which yes, seems to be very common not only in Korea, but in the whole world. But enough of that XD I wish the final message would be that love makes everybody look pretty in the eyes of those that love them and despite all the adversities one doesn't have to be something one's not to be socially accepted. Siwon's character seems to have understood that and it feels nice.
I'm sure I will laugh at this, but still...why not adapting the original Hakuouki game instead of the Highschool…
Hakuouki anime about the Shinsengumi affairs was originally adapted from a dating sim game for girls :3 that Hakuouki shinsengumi dating sim has a spin off highschool dating sim which is this one, Hakuouki SSL. :)
I'm sure I will laugh at this, but still...why not adapting the original Hakuouki game instead of the Highschool version? XD They're making an adaption of the adaption, which is not what the title is famous for.
Must say I'm seriously getting bored of this drama and the same stuff happening over and over again without having any consequence, but just happening for the lolz of it. And also the illusion of a lot of things happening when the only thing they do is change location over and over again only to go back where they came from and return again. And too much nonsense melodrama that I can't even feel for how stupid it gets delivered. Had so much potential in the beginning but now the whole plot has become a running gag. Potential thrown out the window; no character acts like it was supposed to act anymore and the most annoying is miss "damsell in distress" which was supposed to be badass and now she barely even does anything anymore and oh those fanservices! I was expecting a revenge/revolution historical drama with Zorro/Robin Hood themes and I get this. I will probably get a lot of hate for this but at this point I don't care anymore.
I'm really feeling strongly for this drama. My only issue is the OST, continous re-use of the same classical music and then that one English song and another issue would be some acting but that doesn't bother me as much as the ost >.< Still feeling emotional after the 5th episode though.
Makes me wonder if this means Near will be a girl this time around or the actress is just going to play a frail looking guy..hmm.. either way I don't really mind it.
I so agree with you, the synopsis has nothing to do with the actual story. I also thought that it would have been about a woman that already has a boyfriend but she would act really bitchy towards him, when it wasn't like that at all. I also agree about Jung Yoon Hak stealing the spotlight. I would technically have more to say about Kang Hee Chul than about Tae Woon too.
Am I the only one who wants Hye-mi and Tae-woon to get together?
I totally agree with you. I highly doubt that will be the case, but if the writer eventually, for some miracle, decides to go for Hye Mi and Tae Woon, I'll hype the hell out of this drama. But again, the way it's going right now it's pretty clear it'll go for the usual main pairing. I liked Ji Na and Tae Woon till the moment she started to sound like the cliche heroine of every other romantic comedy because "love".
it's a very cute drama so far. Even though I hear people say that Ji Na's character is bad, it's what makes the interactions between her and Tae Woon be so much funnier. Her overreactions are all for the humour of it since she is simply scared of the misfortunes that she gets into by interacting with Tae Woon. Her character is not really the first and nor will it be the last of her type, women that wish for a successful career at any expense. It's also funny to note how Ji Na cares so much about what other people think of her while Tae Woon is her exact opposite. No MinWoo is doing a very good job in this drama btw. I was always used to the type of roles he had in My Girlfriend is a Gumiho and in God's gift, so this just broke the "poker face"-ed style he liked to hang onto (as far as I'm concerned).
nice plot twist at the end there, i have to say. At one point I thought that next we're going to discover that Do Hyun's real name is Ri On and Ri On's real name is Ri Na (dog's name ) xDDDDD okay I'm making too much fun of it. I'M SORRY. #mindblown
