Have you ever watched the original version of RL, Counter Attack? Directed of course by CJD herself. If RL was made on a 5 dollar budget then CA was made with like 50 cents hahahahaha. I remember watching it and feeling so much second hand embarrassment so many times I nearly died. But the actors who played CC and WSW, in my opinion, were closer fits for the characters. Especially WSW, man that actor was like spot on.

I also personally dislike bringing issues from Chinese fandom here, as most non Chinese fans just don't understand the nuances. But if it's any comfort, he has more fans than haters, and if your wish is to see his popularity grow globally, then issues surrounding him in the Chinese fandom are nothing to international fans. I hope you don't get too frustrated, it's unfortunate he gets hate, but remember he's doing something I assume he enjoys and making money from it. He will be fine. This isn't the first comment I came across about the importance of origin of production company being Taiwanese haha. There was one about RL on Reddit, and they wrote "legally it's a Taiwanese production so it's a disservice to call it Chinese" or something like that. What law and whose law??? Isn't it a disservice to the Chinese crew that actually did the filming, directing etc then? I don't have a Reddit account and wasn't in the mood to write a reply maybe I should have lol.

Has inbound international tourism gone up specifically because of it?

This show, along with the two other historical ones were filmed a few years back, so production quality, make up, etc would be quite outdated by now. Might just be better for a total redo if ever the time comes.

They should also adapt the cute and fluffy AU story, set in ABO world too 😆
