I see where you're coming from, but that scene is most likely the "fairy-tale" part of this drama. Old Chen, the police officer, and Yanliang also died. Pupu's brother probably died a long time ago. We can go for a deep analysis if you want because I'm up for it, but in the end it all comes back to whether you choose to believe in reality or fairy-tale.

I get that different people have different perceptions and understandings, but I believe Pupu died. When she suffered from the asthma attack, Zhang Dongsheng didn't call the ambulance in fear of getting caught. Also, there is a cut scene in which Zhang Dongsheng ate McDonalds' Happy Meal (kids' set) alone while crying. There were a couple of fluffy toys on the table–the kind he once got for Pupu. I believe he actually cared for her and took her as his own daughter because she is exactly what he imagined his future daughter to be in the easter egg of episode 9. It's just that he valued his own life more.

Everybody is entitled to their own respective opinions. Like Zhang Dongsheng said, you can believe in fairy-tales. I'm not trying persuade you into believing Pupu died or anything. I just want to share my thoughts. You are welcome to share yours too^^
