this drama is really worth a watch! i would say there are no other dramas like this one, but the original novel was written by maoni, who also wrote ever night. you might find some similar elements and tropes.

Yan Liang did die, but there is no right explanation as to when he died. Some people believe he was stuck inside the reservoir and burned to death. Others believe he died when he fell off the ship and drowned. Personally, I believe he died when Zhang Dongsheng stabbed him with the knife.

As for Old Chen, he probably died on his way to the reservoir. His wound was too severe.
