Um I've only watched one of Zhang Zhehan's dramas (Legend of Yunxi) but I do not think that he is a boring character... since he's an actor. Anyways, the only reason he doesn't smile is because is doing something called acting, and his character is cold and probably doesn't smile. How weird would it be if someone who is supposed to be cold and stone faced was acted with all smiles and cheery laughs? I watched him on the reality TV show called Actors Take Your Place or something and I was really impressed. I mean I have a bad feeling about this drama too because of Yu Zheng and the fact that it literally finished filming in 2016 and 4 years later still crickets, but I am looking forward to seeing Zhang Zhehan.

Because the second leads were from the production company I think they cut some of Zheng yecheng's scenes to give them more screen time. On Mango TV they have this option where you can just watch one actor or actresses scenes and I remember there were like five episodes where Zheng Yecheng had five-ten minutes of screen time in a 45 minute episode.

technically his birth mother is a maid but his adoptive mother is the main character - Zhen Huan.

I agree this ought to be at least a 9.0, but Nirvana in Fire... poorly written? I have to say that one is probably one of the best written historical dramas ever.

Not really. There are lots of pairings you can ship, but none of the kids have actual romantic storylines.

Zhao Liying's acting was so enjoyable here! She was just so cute! I wish Zhang Han emoted more though. Especially in the scene where Shan Shan confessed her feelings for him, his face was literally frozen.

If you guys liked this drama and the "bromance" I'd definitely suggest Tientsin Mystic. It has a similar setup and character dynamics though I'd say Tientsin Mystic was more enjoyable because it had some really amazing cinematography and writing.

but that's necessary because of the plot. They couldn't have the princess's face stay the same right? Besides Jiang Yiyi appears in two episodes in total, and Zhao Lusi has a tolerable amount of screen time in the other 28. I think the real victim here is Zhe Yecheng who had like 0 screen time in some episodes even though he's the ML.

gah I'm so excited! I am now much more confident in Hu Yitian's acting after seeing "My Roommate is a Detective" and Li Yitong is one of my favorite actresses of all time!

I'd add Zhang Xincheng to this list. He might not be as highkey as the majority of people on this list but he's really rising a lot in popularity. I've seen works from all of these young actors and I personally think Liu Haoran and Jackson Yi are probably the ones I look most forward to watching in the future, but all of them have a lot of potential.

not going to lie, the best parts about this remake are the opening and how pretty all the girls are!

Why does this remind me of Stranger Things?

He doesn't sleep for one hundred years, he sleeps every one hundred years. I don't remember how long he actually sleeps (I don't think the drama specified), but I think it's probably like ten years or something.

I do think this female lead is strong. Her hesitance when it comes to killing people, who aren't necessarily targets deserving of assassination, can totally be understood. I mean, if you were thrown into this new city where you had to kill good people in order to make sure you didn't die, I don't think many of us would be immediately on board with the system. She ends up formulating an idea in her brain of making a better world for the assassins. She is a female lead with a dream. Also, you don't need to be bad-ass like Yue Ying, or crazy charming and manipulative like Liu Guang to be "strong", there are so many ways a female lead can be tough and helpful, and the morality of Wan Mei in a world where everyone else is corrupted and cruel is eye-opening. Refusing to good people to secure your own happiness shows her strong moral compass, and her compassion, which are both wonderful traits for a human to have. She can fight, she can win, she has brains, and she can kill. Also, she doesn't "refuse to kill anyone", she kills the two men who tried to rape the one girl in like a split second. So, no, she's not stupid and weak, she's human and ethical.

I loved the book, and if they build off the success of "The Wandering Earth", then the movie should be good too.

Trivia (unless someone already posted this): Shen Yue plays Shan Cai in the 2018 Meteor Garden, while Jerry Yan plays Dao Ming Si in the 2001 Meteor Garden. (Shan Cai and Dao Ming Si are a couple)

she's one of the very few Chinese actresses that looks super handsome dressed as a guy, so obviously they're going to try to make use of that.

I kind of don't want it to be all about Xu Feng and Jin Mi anymore because their story has ended. But it looks like it probably won't be anyways so...

Seeing him get hate for his fans actions is so sad! I'm not even that big a fan of him, but it just makes me so mad that people are giving all his dramas and shows one star. He doesn't (and the shows don't) deserve it.
