Do people understand how difficult it is to portray a cute character and make them come off as cute and not annoying or stupid? Like, it's veryyyyy hard. Zhao Lusi and Zhao Liying are two of the few ladies who can actually make me like a cute and bubbly character. And also, if you've watched TROTAR or even her dramas where she plays supporting roles, you'll know she can portray deeper characters. Maybe the character in Killing of Three Thousand Crows was too deep (I still laugh whenever I think about the fact that people think her character in that show was too naive and cute), but Lusi has a natural sense to her acting. That is much more than I can say for many other actresses or actors.
What's up with MDL and using the former names of Chinese actors and actresses instead of the ones that usually go by. Like Cheng Yi should be 成毅 in Chinese. No one calls him 傅诗琪. (Same thing with Yang Zi)
I think the first 12 or so episodes are definitely the most dramatic, entertaining and interesting, but the thing is, in order to truly understand why this is considered one of the most tragic dramas ever you have to watch all episodes. I mean sure, just watching the ending might be sad, but watching how everything leads up to that ending makes it another level of tragic and heartbreaking.
Based on the trailer it's Comedy. But it still doesn't say comedy on genres wtf.All those months I had a hope…
just because it's comedy doesn't mean it can't be serious too. Of course, if it's going to be the silly childish type of funny then yeah, those contradict, but the Chinese saying goes: every comedy has a tragic core. I mean we know how AoL went from cute and silly to melodrama and death real quick.
I don't get why they use voice dubs, it makes everything seem so much less realistic and besides the ML and 3rd ML have really great voices and ability to enunciate anyways.
ML can't play.... (((( no emotions, no acting.... Both SMLand Third ML are playing much better! I'm going to drop...((
I haven't watched it but honestly ZZH is a really good actor. I didn't see that in Yunxi either, but I watched a variety show with him in it and he blew me away. The thing is, a lot of his good acting comes from more realistic settings (like modern dramas) and his ability to enunciate words is very top level in the industry. I think this type of drama, guzhuang and cutesy, really doesn't suit his forte.
Ikr. It's depressing. Their social media environment's toxic as hell and It's already beyond the limits. They…
You're right. I suppose international and western fans can be cruel too, but honestly, Chinese fans are on another level of toxic. There are people on social media just calling an entire generation of actresses ugly and literally spitting insults at celebrities just because they are insecure themselves. It's so sad to see and infuriating to read. I once read a very thoughtful essay about beauty in the drama industry and all the comments were just sentences declaring that all post 95 actresses were ugly and had no acting ability. Xiao Zhan is obviously one of the people who have suffered the most, but to think that this can happen to just about anyone is so scary. No matter how much people are warned not to cyberbully, they will still fall victim to their insecurities and lack of self-esteem and join in the crowds of others with similarly low opinions of themselves to desperately try to pull a celebrity down from public opinion. See the thing about people nowadays is that they are lazy, they will see a news article talking about how "Xiao Zhan caused Ao3 to close" (even though that's false) and then jump on a hate bandwagon without actually informing themselves of the true turn of events. It is because of this that humanity will never be able to dig themselves out of this hole of darkness and see the light of humanity and equality. They only read and see what they want to read or see. They don't care about the consequences of their actions.

The sad thing is most hate comments don't even come from bots. Like I remember I was wandering the JOL forum for news updates and literally the most popular threads were all demanding they change Yan Bingyun. I'm sure there are bots, but it seems that people just jump on these hate bandwagons without even knowing what happened. I don't know about Ao3's popularity in China, but I really don't think it is as popular as to warrant this much hate from this many people. I'm pretty sure the majority of people don't even know about the scandal and just decided to use it to their advantage and hate on Xiao Zhan despite him having done nothing wrong. (I literally don't even like Xiao Zhan that much but this is so mean and depressing that I'm infuriated anyways).
You know what I find sad though? On douban people are treating Xiao Zhan as if he did something wrong. For example, in the JOL forums they are all requesting his character Yan Bingyun be played by someone else. This is the reaction that celebrities get if they are revealed to have cheated or been a jerk or something like that. Xiao Zhan hasn't done anything and he's getting all this hate.
No offense but as per your list you didn't even watch TU... So how do you know anything related to show... Just…
1. watching a show and understanding its popularity are two completely different things. I haven't watched the Untamed but I've seen Weibo numbers, guduo data, douban ratings etc etc and so I have a pretty good picture of how popular it is. 2. the user literally just asked a question. Did they say: "it definitely won't be popular" or "it better be more popular"? No, they just wondered if it would be as popular. They aren't trying to say anything bad about the show (at least from that comment). 3. the two shows are completely different yes, but they are both cdramas, and all cdramas's popularities can be measured on a scale. Whether or not it does better in terms of popularity is objective. Wondering about this is less of a comparison and more of a statistical question. For example, I love Young Blood a lot, but it really not very popular. That doesn't mean it isn't good. 4. Everyone is going to have different opinions on quality, but as I have said, wondering about popularity (an empirical number) is not trying to bring down one show.
Wow 5 Main Leads let’s see how that play out, trailer looks good hope it aired something this year.
it most definitely won't air this year (they only finished filming July), but a good estimate would be June to December next year. Hopefully it will air first two quarters of 2021.
