Thanks for the article I first started watching on KBS I believe Ladies of the palace was my first.
I was at that time not good at computers and knew little about Utube . I ended up finding all the dramas on Yes Asia and Kimook needless to say I spent a lot of money to acquire them . Some had bad subs so I appreciated the S2 subbers . I saw Phoenix and Autums tale with bad subs then bought them from YesAsia with perfect subs what a difference. About that time I think the US became aware of Asian dramas and there was a Kpop and drama explosion. I am a avid drama fan have a collection of 800 K!C,and J dramas You made me nostalgic so I will revisit some of my favorites thanks again for sharing.

I agree we should all be able to voice our opinions and I for one appreciate MDL giving us the forum to do that. Allowing us to see others views and respecting them as theirs.

I so agree with you as I said in my post I even had empathy for her in this and hoped for a better ending for her. In Dong Yi I could not wait for her to get her's and felt she deserved her end Dong Yi is closer to what really happened at least from what I could find in my research. This is a little more romantic and Yoo Ah makes any drama.

I have seen Jang Ok Jungs story told in a few dramas about that time and most of the time I thought the character was a ruthless person and had no empathy for her outcome. In this portrayal however I could see how the palace and the politics turned her into a power hungry person and the actress even made me feel a little sorry for her end. I did some research and the story is way off in some aspects but the king was very much in love with her in the beginning her actions I think made him loose faith in her. This story was great as far as acting went and I adored lead actor , but I like anything he does drama wise. It is worth watching so I recommend it.

Is it me or is every one in this drama sadistic and a little off? Only saw 3 episodes and this is a very different version of anything I have seen about Jang Ok Jung and the King. Just saying I guess the make dramas seen from all angles not sure about how I feel about this yet.

You are right I have watched a lot of Kdramas and Cdramas , not much else but they killing of family for power I have not seen as much in other history as Korean and Chinese drama. But I am not that informed on history aspect of other countries. The way of the world is what it is you are right.

I so agree with you , watch what you want there are so many dramas to choose from, and he has a lot of great fans , so a few haters are always out there. I like his acting and have watched all his dramas numerous time. LJK is someone a lot of people like and I am definetly one.

I saw 2008 version and liked it so this I loved. The customers and the cute kids it was fun for what it was, not to heavy and just enjoyable if you want something you don't have to think about. It was kind of more for young people but I enjoyed it. It's worth watching but I know everyone has different opinions so it's one you have to decide on your own.I however recommend it.

I so agree with you he was on something to write this madness! I gave it a chance despite reviews but I came away with your sentiments exactly !!!!!!! People should save themselves aggravation and not even start this wish I would have paid attention to reviews more.

I truly love Asian dramas I do but they really frustrate me with the exesive scheming that goes on. I know it's a drama but after a while trying to kill or get rid of someone really gets old in a drama. It would seem that the could at least have their act together and do it better just saying does anyone agree with me? I think the writers should use some different methods . Just my opinion.

Drama fever has 10 episodes of this drama I sat through all ten in amazement that a drama could be this bad, just my opinion. I love Chinese period dramas but this , all I can it was a waste of my time. I don't know where this is going . It comes across as a comedy at points but bad comedy. I don't like the lead actress or her acting. I watched because I thought it would get better and they were introducing the characters but it did not. Maybe someone can give me their view I would love to hear someone else's take on this drama.

I am so glad you said this first. Every time I say something like this people come at me like I am nuts. I feel some Kdramas writers do put SKorea in a bad light as far as how people act especially women . I don't know if this is for drama effect or what.? I am only glad someone else sees this as well and I am not being overly biased on this point. Thanks

After reading crusading angels review I watched this drama ,it's by far one of the best I have seen in a long time. If you are trying to see if you will watch it ,do you will not regret it I did not. I enjoyed every moment tears and all .it is well worth the time spend.

Thanks for this review it made me want to watch this drama so much more. I enjoyed the drama more than any in a long time and part of that was your review it made me anticipate what was going to happen so much more also. I love the drama am not finished but am marathoning s it. Again thanks for such a well written review.

I totally agree dubbing makes it seem sometimes like bad acting and it's not. I love Chinese dramas and actors and like you I have seen Nivana of Fire enough for a lot of people as well and will always go back to it.

It is now on dramafever 10 episodes don't know how many Vikki has. Just info for those who need the English subs like me.

I have a question maybe more experienced drama viewers could explain to me please. Why in Kdramas do most wrong doers blame their victims with the phrase don't blame me you made me do this ! When they victims only have better life's or loves that the people trying to hurt them in some way. Is it jealousy , envy , greed or what.? Would really like to understand that mentality mostly find it in Kdramas.

I also do not like the actress , my reason her acting seems so forced and not natural. I first saw her in Emperor of the sea and thought she was a bad choice for that role. But I know many people enjoy her work I am just not one of them. That being said I did love the other actors in this drama ,they made me cry a lot .

I cannot understand it myself in Korean dramas the bad person still ends up with a good outcome and all is forgiven. Whoa I just don't get this concept for 31 episodes someone makes everyone miserable and is just ruthless and in the end it's ok because they were driven to it by others. I also don't get how in Kdramas people always say "don't blame me you made me do it" when they do something despicable to someone. Maybe someone could explain this concept to me, and I know it's just a drama ,but it's in a lot of them.
