I have a question: in the xianxia genre/universe, can a master and disciple fall in love? I remember reading in a web novel ages ago that falling in love with your master and vice versa is forbidden. Just wanted to confirm if that's an ironclad rule in the literary genre.
Can't get over Mu Qingge categorizing Yishui as a ferocious beast and jotting down ways to tame him, plus documenting it on her scroll of culinary recommendations 😭 Qingge's such a wine and food-loving badass
May I ask if Deng Wei was shadow banned or did he have any contract disputes? (Please correct me if I'm wrong) I haven't heard from him in a while, so I'm glad his new drama's currently airing.
Same, I put on hold somewhere in the beginning and went back on ep 20 But will probably drop it after Haode’s…
Me too! It's also likely that I'll drop it once their story ends. Perhaps the reason that I'm drawn to this couple is because of the differing levels of maturity that both Haode and Lord Shen have shown so far. And like you, I also prefer more mature leads!
I initially dropped this after episode 6 because the writing isn't my cup of tea but went back to watch episode 20 onwards for Haode and Shen Huizhao's arc. I am sooo in love with their story; it feels grounded.
Liang Yongqi also had such an excellent run in The Double, and it's nice seeing him flaunt his acting skills again here. Episode 24 gave me goosebumps!
Odd question: I'd like to ask if any viewers notice the graininess of the video quality on Netflix? Would like to confirm if others also see miniscule pixels subtly moving, or 1) I just have bad vision (which is true) or 2) it's my laptop.
I think the reason why a lot of people feel uncomfortable with this drama is because the men are so reminiscence…
This is very well said. I can't quite pinpoint why this drama's not resonating with me, especially with how they portray societal views of men and women, and you made several interesting points. I'm wondering if there is or could be a fine line in portraying these subject matters with as much care and sensitivity when the overarching genre of the drama seems to lean more towards the romcom territory.
