See I knew all the sweetness in episode 14 was the calm before the storm. We all know what CSS is like, somehow…
Honestly I’d rather have her doing that instead of waiting for judgement to befall them. This seems like a conspiracy and I don’t trust any of the officials to deliver the truth. She’s smart and capable & I also want her parents to see what a brilliant daughter they have.
the main female characters are usually hated more in dramas, mostly because the audience are male lead apologists…
So true! The ML can be an unhinged psychopath and will still be loved but if the FL makes a single mistake or has the tiniest flaw, she's slandered relentlessly.
Honey… I don’t think she stayed up all night to talk about politics haha 😂 They’re most definitely prostitutes of some sort.
But I see your point. However, I believe they were killed to control + punish the princess instead of treason since there was no evidence to convict them of such. We also know that LBY most definitely likes going for the loved ones of the people who he likes to punish as we saw with the entourage of the 5th princess & their families.
After watching 37 and 38 I finally realised why wu lei said he would call the police if he ever met LBY in real…
I agree with everything. I was too busy having a hell of a time rolling on the floor with a belly full of laughter to notice just how unfair the whole guilt-tripping CSS into expressing her love for LBY was. Everyone is just pushing her no.. no forcing her to fall in love with LBY. No one actually tries to understand her perspective and her upbringing. If they did, they would know that for a person to be so painfully independent, it could only mean she’s not used to having people to love and depend on. The whole thing felt kinda toxic.
And yes, WL really surprised me with his maturity cause we’re almost the same age and here I am drooling over LBY 😆
Do you think we will have enough episodes for the revenge arc? Hopefully they don’t rush the ending, or I will…
I’m thankful that their separation arc is cut short. I don’t want this couple to go through any more angst/suffering. I mean CSS JUST confessed to him. I want happier times (also seggsy times shhh 🤭).
All true. But doesn't that make you feel that much more sorry for Empress Xuan?
It does.
It is quite a pity that she was forced into the marriage for another royal family’s benefit. She fell for the Emperor regardless but he’ll never love her the way he does Yue. But at least the Emperor really respects her, cares for her well-being and even gave her the title of ‘Empress’ while being lenient and protective of her family. Anyone else would have crowned their Lover especially if they’re backed up by a family that is STILL powerful while the Empress’ family lost all their wealth. The consort also treats her quite kindly & a cordial relationship is established. It is neither perfect nor fair I know but in such a situation, she did get a somewhat good deal.
I like the dynamic between the Emperor and Consort Yue. He’s benevolent & mischievous but a little naïve like his son the Crown Prince. She’s smart, upright and can see through any deception while still being incredibly strict. They complement each other perfectly while understanding one another’s intentions without any jealousy or strife. We can see why they fell for each other.
I totally love seeing how proud and amused the Emperor looks whenever Yue opens her mouth.
I wouldn’t mind a spin-off of their younger years— all their flirtatiousness, how the Emperor literally jumped off a wall into a ditch to impress Yue, Lady Huo and Yue’s rivalry, the camaraderie and brotherhood between Wen and General Huo and finally, how he came into power.
I initially thought CSS’ revenge was underwhelming because the 5th princess literally tried to drown her, threw rocks at her, caused a snake to bite her & tried to ruin her reputation & marriage by claiming she had a tryst with the 5th prince. But in truth, it was even more satisfying to see the Emperor and our LBY get justice for her— CSS always acted on her own when she was younger and didn’t have anyone to back her up and be her support. Her own mother seem so cold and far away when she needed her the most (though she kicked ass every fortnight). Now, CSS knows she has in-laws who she can depend on and a husband who she shares a body with like the Empress reiterates. Also, seriously harming the Princess would have resulted her to be punished severely even if she was wronged first. By humiliating her in front of her peers or “entourage of brainless followers”, she angered the 5th enough to blurt out her mistakes and shoot herself in the foot. It was perfectly executed. The last two episodes were a pleasure to my heart, eyes & ears ❤️
