Lu Na is bugging me. The woman is just one murder or kidnapping away from becoming a full on Mexican telenovela villain. A lot of people might find clingy and possessive cute on a SML but when it comes to females it is just annoying.
Johnny could you please send your sister to a Swiss boarding school. I cannot stand her drama and her bratty attitude. That said a great watch. I can now understand conversational Chinese but all the law and business language are just going over my head. Need to find a streaming site w/ subs.
You have to hand it to Chinese drama producers. Unabashedly copying famous works while alluding to current and relevant events. This is like a crossover between BBJX and Jewel in the Palace without the time travelling plot.
Both male leads are eye candy I gotta say. Gala has a stick figure but he has a beautiful face and a cute dimple. He is the ML here without a doubt. You won't get SLS here though despite the second lead being also very handsome. He just seems too childlike for me. His personality is too innocent and playful for a guy who is already in college.
The FL has caught my eye ever since I first saw her on Tribes and Empires playing the young Su Yu Ning. She actually played her part better than the actress playing the older version. I am currently watching her in Fake Princess and I have to say it is quite refreshing to see a young lady already play many roles and do them well.
WTH I am at episode 17 and I thought they were gonna drop that idea with that maid. Now getting spoiled with the that and the terrible ending, I think I'm going to drop this drama. Ziyan should have just died when they were pursued by Qin Qi.
I am expecting gorgeous cinematography, beautiful scenery, elaborate sets and detailed costumes for this one. Tribes and Empires is still my number one when it comes to eye candy. I just hope the story and plot will be much improve though. T and E left me hanging, many loose ends that were not properly address.
Yang Mi again? She is too old in my opinion. It might be because I see most Chinese historical dramas have young…
Well after watching Song Zu'Er in Novoland Eagle Flag and her bratty playful acting, I think am ready for someone with more meat and experience for this one. This role certainly fits the bill. I don't think a fresh faced newbie and her cute acting would go well with an imperial court drama where she romances the emperor and his adviser.
I'm totally confused. Why is everyone speaking American English in Barcelona and not Spanish?
Because they'd end up hiring someone from Puerto Rico to dub and then pass it off as Peninsular Spanish. The English accents in Chinese dramas are already bad enough. I cannot imagine them doing other languages any justice at all.
Great chemistry between the main leads. They look like a good match. I hope to see a costume drama from this two in the future. Unfortunately the irritating second female lead and the manager that acts like a scorn woman are annoying as hell.
I think I spoke too soon when I said Arthur Chen has now improved his acting skills. I think it was just him still being in his element the first few episodes. As soon as the drama started to build a crescendo it was pretty clear he was out of his comfort zone. When the scene required him to emote and express more nuanced expressions its an absolute fail. His crying face is tragic to say the least. I was not able to finish Ever Night because of his acting but fortunately for this one I'm going to stick through. I like the story and the acting of his costars makes up for his deficiency. The good news is he seems to be taking classes at Beijing Film Academy where Song Zu'Er and Huang JunJie are also thankfully taking lessons. Let's hope their lessons are a success.
I guess they blew all their budget on the overseas shoot. This reminds me so much of Wait in Beijing who spent their budget on Li Yifeng and shooting in New York and then skimp on everything else. Some cheap webdramas have been better shot than this mess. One of the things that really annoys me is bad dubbing and this drama is the definition of that. Hearing his real voice in Find Yourself and then hearing him with a different badly dubbed voice is jarring to say the least.
The 2nd FL Deng En Xi (Su Tang) is 13 years old when they filmed this in 2018! China seriously has so much talent.
She look so mature though and surprisingly a very good actress for her age. Twenty years younger than me. My goodness! I was actually hoping she and Dylan were a couple in this drama. They look like a match. I did not envision a 13 year difference.
Nah. Arthur Chen is a terrible TERRIBLE actor. It’s actually pissing me off that there has been no improvement…
His improve by leaps since Ever Night. His acting was absolutely atrocious in that drama. I'm watching this and surprisingly I still haven't pulled my hair out like I did when I watched Ever Night. He is not a naturally gifted actor and he his never going to become a competent one in the next decade or so but he has loads of presence and I think for actors that's also a quality that they aspire.
Don't tell me Dylan's character is going to be with Qin Sang's maid. I was actually expecting him and Su Tang to become a couple until the doctor showed up. They are so not on the same level.
Yes. If she had talent, it would have been easier to forgive....
I have actually never seen her act as I haven't had time to watch this drama. These newbies should be given time to settle. Speaking of giving rookies a chance wasn't Arthur Chen also given a chance with a lead role in his first drama. It was a successful attempt not because of top notch acting skills far from it but because he was endearing and charismatic. Well if she is neither charismatic or a good actress then I see a problem. As of now it's too early to tell and as I can tell the show is doing well in China so all this underhanded comments are rather tactless.
Well if I was the jealous type I'd be pissed too at the FL. Imagine having Arthur Chen, Fan Cheng Cheng and Xu Kai as your ML's and your just starting your acting career.
Not gonna lie, I'm only interested in Peng Xiao Ran. Never cared about FBB and her scandal makes me even more…
I'm dying to see Peng Xiao Ran in another costume drama. I just hope the Chinese censors will let this air if they managed to airbrush the 2 leads out of this drama. I wanna see Xiao Feng again.
I see the FL was the actress who played Cao Cao's daughter in Secret of the Three Kingdoms. She held her own there and did not look out of place with the tone of the drama. Seeing many comments not liking her character then it must a casting mismatch because she is a pretty capable actress as far as I can recall from that drama. Someone like Song Zu Er who is unfortunately casted on more sombre and serious roles would have been a better fit playing a goofy and cute character. I plan to watch this because this looks like an interesting, light-hearted drama.
