I'm only a few episodes in and I'm already wishing that manager to be run over as he is crossing the street. He is that annoying and vindictive. His more reprehensible than any of Thalia's crazy and jealous antagonists.

Only 6 years difference but CZY looks way too young. I like him in Handsome Siblings though and he delivered a solid performance there. He makes a very convincing wuxia protagonist.

Of the female leads Minmin is the least calculating and devious one. I was irritated by her at the beginning but as story progressed I started to realized she is the most honest one among the female leads. The FL is insecure and immature. Yuan Song is the one carrying their relationship and he is like a decade younger. Cong Xiao is starting to grate me. She pines for Chuang Huan while at the same time relentless in her pursuit in catching a rich husband. I was hoping they would end up together but now I would feel bad for Chuang Huan if he ends up with someone whose main goal in life is climbing the social ladder.

Lee Sungkyung and Ahn Hyoseop have lovely chemistry. Wish there were more moments between the two.

He provides comic relief though. His monologue while doing Tai Chi in episode 12 had me ROTFL. I hope he does get someone at the end. Just not Fan Xing or Cong Xiao.

Hilarious drama. One of the few wuxia dramas that I've actually managed to finished the past year. Usually I watched and get bored after a few episodes. This one kept me entertained to the end. Wang Wu is an absolute gem. Sandrine Pinna's comedic talent and timing is one of the best I've seen. A rare talent in Chinese dramas. Most actresses in China have the same morose facial expression no matter what the scene. Glad to see someone with a lot more virtuosity in that department. Also loved the sweet bromance between Wang Lu and Xiao Hai.

I am hoping Cong Xiao ends up with her colleague. It's pretty clear the two have considerable attraction with each other and what looks like a longstanding unfulfilled relationship. Their bickering is hilarious.

You do know there are people who read BL and don't subscribed to the L*** movement, Right? Truth be told I started to lost interest in BL when it got co-opted by a movement whose readers love to criticize writers for ambiguous sexual orientation on characters. They should really start to call it gay love instead of BL these days.

I don't think this is dubbed. If it is dubbed it looks like they are using the actors original voices. I am not so familiar with Song Weilong voice but I can tell it's Victoria's voice and I know David Wang's voice well from watching Love is Not Blind over and over.

This showed up on my recommendations on Netflix and watched the first episode. I am enjoying it. I'm liking the plot and the leads so I'll continue watching. Also ZYJ is here so this is a definite watch.

A recommended watch on Netflix if your a fan of wuxia. HYT is a fairly good actor but I find his character somewhat bland. I guess it's because Xiao Yu Er is a bit more interesting, has more life experiences and is the archetype of the happy go lucky ML in wuxia novels.

Goodness the male lead's acting is beyond atrocious. An automatic drop for me. His facial expression is all over the place and he just cannot act period. I thought Arthur Chen's performance in Ever Night was terrible but at least he could still carry a convincing and relatable performance. This guy though is on another level. Without the dubbing he'd be unwatchable. The magic of Chinese entertainment doing wonders once again.

From the first episode alone I should have known I wasn't going to like this drama. I mean the professor and the modern ZRY character did talk about the appropriateness  of using modern ideas to critique ancient history in the intro. Not that there is anything wrong with that technique. But I have strong aversion to putting modern ideals on a pedestal, setting it as a standard and then critiquing history with it. I'm not oppose to time travel drama per se. I consider BBJX a very well done work in this genre and I did like the drama. I find a modern character's surprise and struggle between modern comfort and amenities and a setting that would qualify as luddite utopia amusing and instructive. But sadly I don't have that reaction to when a character spouts off the United Nations Declaration on Human Rights like our idealistic male lead just a few episodes in on this drama. Not only he is idealistic but he is also an annoying woolly eyed romantic who oppose a marriage just because of a silly drumstick left by some girl. What a tool! I prefer my characters a bit more rooted to the reality of the age and with a matter of fact stoic attitude required to survive in that age. I'm continually  astounded how these characters don't end up getting killed in the first few episodes with their caustic and arrogant know it all attitude.

YDJ character is better on the sequel. I actually watched that first before I tried to watch this one. When I say tried, is because I've dropped it. Second episode in and I'm done with it. The male lead is just not as likeable as his character in the sequel and the female lead? Well let's just say as soon as I found out she is a card carrying member of the Che T-shirt squad I realized why she had such a sour expression.

The Hong sisters have squeezed the last drop of creativity left in them in this drama. Not that they were particularly talented. The story could have been elaborated by better writers IMO. The plot is interesting but in the end the writing and the characters are not particularly endearing or memorable and most importantly likeable.

The only one I like here is the king. I feel he is just too kind that the minister takes advantage. That traitorous eunuch should never have been spared. Also pitiful is he in love with such a shallow and crude woman. The 2 leads love story is just a big ugh. Sadly feel nothing watching these two. The only thing that's keeping me watching is that evil minister gets his karma. If the 2 leads also die in the end then I'd consider raising this to 8.0.

The thing that's keeping me watching is Manweol's past with Lee Dohyun's character. The two have excellent chemistry and the depth of their relationship is quite palpable. Sad to say though I'm not feeling Yeo Jingoo and IU that much. I feel like YJG needs to update his mannerisms and his diction for modern dramas. His acting is perfect for historical sageuk but somewhat jarring for dramas set in the present.

I forgot to add the OST is also one of the reasons that's keeping me interested in this drama. Best OST since Scarlet Heart. This drama is not as compelling as that one but in terms of OST they are evenly matched.

There's a lack of poignancy watching the lives of the ghosts in Hotel del Luna. From the girl that possessed another body to that vengeful ghost who killed the men who sullied her reputation most of the ghosts here seem to be vindictive, vengeful and unforgiving. It's like the entire show at least the first half which I've watched is just a whole series of episodes on how to successfully accomplish vigilante justice supernatural style. Can't understand the very high rating. I think Master's Sun did much better with the kind of ghosts they dealt with.

Gosh this thing is just going downhill at the end. We have a credulous male lead who's never had a backbone and never stood up for anything until he did a complete 360 at the end(well not really surprising he had an evil mother). Then we have a female lead that acts like a crazed ex who can't get over her first love. Maybe it was a blessing in disguise I did not finish this when it was all the rage. I remember liking this so much back in July or August last year then stop watching halfway because of criticisms of the plot. I love their love when they were mortals but at the end their angsty love affair was all too banal, superficial and really just annoying.

Xufeng is the most inept and useless male lead I've ever known. I'm watching episode 55 and I can't believe people like this gullible male lead who tolerated his mother's capriciousness and evil ways and then continue doing it again with that annoying Bird princess.
