It's not the same type of bromance. The Untamed was originally a BL novel about men who are in love with each other. Due to censorship, it forced The Untamed to only allude to their love through subtle and not so subtle touches/ eye contact etc. Nirvana is bromance in the sense of brotherhood, comradery and friendship. The feeling between the characters in both dramas are completely different.
I don't have anything to compare this show to, I just think the lead female character is... weak? She doesn't…
The point was she was purposefully made that way by her mother so that she wouldn't have to endure the pain of love. That's literally the WHOLE point of the show. No she was not born stupid. She was also not meant to be born weak either, if you continue to watch you will find out that her powers from her true form were also sealed from birth. If you do not like the show, no one is forcing you guys to watch it, but if you are going to judge a show from half-watching 15 episodes, I suggest you watch something else.
I'm sorry, but... does the lead ever get any character development? Why is she 'portrayed' by other characters…
Short answer is yes she does... but of course if you can't stand it already, I wouldn't persuade you to continue because you aren't going to like it regardless.
Honestly, this show has one of the most beautiful familial relationships and bromance. The characters will surely…
I am actually at episode 7 now. The only thing preventing me from dropping it is the fact that everyone likes it. I am halfway through episode 7 right now and I haven't touched it in two days. Ick. I'll try to watch a few more episodes tonight. Thanks for the encouragement.
Watching the beginning over for the 3rd time, trying to get into the story. There are way too many fantastical elements going on that makes it confusing to follow the plot. I am also having a hard time really caring about the story or the characters. I hope it starts to get good soon, otherwise I might have to drop it. The sets and costumes are quite beautiful though.
Is it better than the Untamed? I'm desperately looking for a drama that is as good as The Untamed but can't find…
I haven't finished the Untamed yet...but of the episodes I have watched, there are some elements that are really similar. Nirvana is my top Chinese show so far so the bar is quite high. I think you should give it a shot.
If this is The Story of Runyu and he is the main character, the petty and double-faced person we will see is going…
I love your comment. You are exactly right. That is why this show is so spectacular. Not one of these people were perfect. If you think about it, Jinmi unknowingly led on two guys, was easily fooled into doing something she would regret, then stubbornly refused to let go despite causing trouble to everyone in the realms. Xufeng legit STOLE his older brother's fiance and got her hopelessly in love with him. Runyu stuck it to the both of them, which was his right... but in the end, they put all of that behind them and forgave each other.
Despite receiving so many awards including the recent Seoul International Drama Award for the best Foreign Language…
People here have some sort of issue with Chinese dramas being in the top ten list of good dramas. I think some of these low ratings are done purposefully to lower the score of these Chinese dramas. The fact that people think certain "ahem" k-dramas are better than Nirvana in Fire blows my mind. But it is what it is...
I'm on episode 17 and i'm so tempted to drop this drama only because of the female lead. So far, her character…
I can think of a few redeeming qualities of early Jinmi. 1. She is innocent, naive and sweet (not because that's a cliche but because she was legitimately imprisoned body, mind and heart her entire life). She treats everyone similarly and does not understand differentiating feelings (due to the pill). 2. Her handicap is also why she is always happy. She is optimistic about life and always curious about what lies outside of what she knows. She enjoys life to the fullest (at least she thought she did). 3. She tries desperately to cultivate her powers because she wants to find a way to save her friend. She resorts to silly, funny ways (like eating XuFeng's zongzi, or making bets for more cultivation) because she can't cultivate in other ways (since her real powers/ identity were all locked by her mother due to "reasons that would be a spoiler"). 4. Despite knowing her shortcomings (power wise) she has enough foresight to trust others in times of trouble but always brave enough to step up first. I hate to spoil it for people but Jinmi is more than what you see.
I'm on episode 11 and I can't seem to stand Jin Mi's character... she's just way too air-headed and immature to…
She is air-headed and immature due to her circumstance. Remember she was basically imprisoned her entire life, body and mind. Give it some time. She changes drastically as she begins to experience the good and bad of life. Jinmi at the end of the drama is an entirely different character.
SORRY YEHUA! (hard sob)
