My dear friend, I'm sorry I can't help but respond. Since you've asked a few questions, I would also like to ask…
Sorry can’t edit on my phone but I wanted to add after “that’s why they hate the show..” after all they are different/ remake versions of the same story for a reason. They aren’t suppose to be the same.

I can't remember too well but I saw it somewhere and someone said the F4 leads are using their real voices but…
I think only Lei’s and Ximen’s voices are undubbed... but there is high chance everyone is dubbed.

You have to expect comparisons when remaking a popular story. (You don't remake Pride and Prejudice without expecting…
Comparisons are normal but, maybe it’s because I had such low expectations, but it never once crossed my mind to compare this version to the old versions. I knew it was the same story but I didn’t go into it feeling... man, the Japanese version did this scene better or I wish they had the feel of the Taiwanese version in this scene. Like, I knew this version was going to change things (it’s a remake in 2018 afterall)... so maybe that’s why I ended up loving this version and anticipating new episodes every week? I find people who constantly compare this version to old versions to be quite tiresome to read all of the time. Because it’s almost like... duh of course it’s different. They aren’t the same show! My favorite version of this story was the Japanese live version but that doesn’t stop me from enjoying this version and I guess that’s where I am coming from.

There is nothing wrong with airing a negative opinion... as you see I’ve entertained your criticisms and rants in the past and found them to be agreeable for the most part. I am just fed up tbh with people comparing this version to old versions and that’s why they hate the show. I find that people with negative opinions to be the loudest and it honestly rains on all of our parade who like the show. It also detracts possible viewers from giving the show a shot. I love the show and don’t have many friends or people I can talk to about this and this is literally the only place people can comment on the show every week. Like, We get it. You didn’t like the show. That’s fine. If you want the original storyline and the original feel... there are three, four, maybe even five versions of the same story you can entertain yourself with.

I get that people want to share their opinions on why they hate/ dislike the show but if your opinion is based on expectations set from previous versions... I feel like it’s unfair. All versions of this story have its own charm... if they made this version exactly like other versions... who would want to watch it? Yes, this version’s DMS and Shan Cai are different from other versions... but their portrayals and their interactions with each other are different too. In the end, I find that DMS changes Shan Cai’s character and not the other way around. Why can’t that be the story’s main arc in the end?!? Why can’t people just accept that changes will be made to this story and it’s okay too? I have watched all versions of this story and I am enjoying this so I hope people do not get dissuaded from watching this. You know what they say... if you set your expectations too high, you only set yourself up for disappointment.

I mean... people need to lower their expectations... it’s a tween drama along the lines of Twight. People are going around expecting too much and they disappoint themselves. Like what happened to watching something for the pure enjoyment? It’s not meant to teach people how to live their life. Honestly if I met DMS or Shan Cai in real life I would tell people to stay the F away... but they are fun to watch together and that’s the whole point.

okay but what honestly annoys me is that shancai goes into overprotective mode when xiayou is with ximen. like…
The things she said to Ximen were messed up. If I were Ximen I would’ve said way nastier things back... like... why are you worrying about us when you go breaking my best friend’s heart all the time over your undecisiveness...

Do you guys recommend to watch this? Especially for someone that has seen all the previous ones? Or is the acting…
The acting is not the best but it honestly gets better. There are scenes in the latter half of this drama that really breaks your heart and makes you feel for them. The two leads have a lot of chemistry. The story line has a lot of flaws and it is chock full of cliches BUT... if you want an entertaining show... this is it. I have seen all of the adaptations. I still believe the Japanese version is the best. I want to finish watching this version to decide if it overtakes the original MG for second place. BOF was the worst adaptation and I can say this version is miles better than that one. If you liked the original Meteor Garden or the manga, you will like this version. It is an updated version of the 2001 Meteor Garden with the same show runner and producer. It follows the manga almost to a T. China's censorship rules and blatant product placements may turn you off but if you over look those things, you will like this.

I can't help you. I am in love with this remake. The only thing I can say is... there are plenty of scenes that can make you fall in love with this remake ahead if you can put some things aside.

Oh my god, I think I now know what the problem is after wading through episode 3. This is reverse-HYD, that's…
Haha. It is a strange paradox because you can see how the scriptwriters tried to show SC being bullied but had no choice but to credit it to "mishaps" or accidents. Her getting sick was really because of him in the manga...but of course they couldn't show her being bullied so it just gets F*** up. There is more where that comes from...To be fair, SC doesn't bully DMS just for the hell of it. She really wants nothing to do with him aside from the initial part where she wanted him to replace her phone. He just constantly finds a way into her life because he is infatuated with her.

Just about barely made it through episode 2. Morbid curiosity kept me going, I guess. I find myself now making…
I am so curious about your thoughts as you watch this show. lol. If you do not drop it... keep us updated please. The fashions are such a hit or miss on this show. I generally like everything Ximen wears and hate everything Mei Zuo wears. DMS gets some good looks sometimes. Lei's seem very consistent with his character, lots of sweaters in whites and grays.

Also the bipolar aspect of the show was explained by the showrunners. They spent less time on aspects of the show that people already know and more time on parts of the manga that were skipped or overlooked due to budget.

Only to play devil's advocate and.. because I am literally obsessed with this remake, I think the producers and…
I get where you are coming from. It is kinda why I believe they sped up the story in the beginning, only focusing 2 episodes to the introduction of the characters. I think the producers are relying on people knowing the story already. You are entirely right in your criticisms of the show. It's funny because even with the watered down DMS, people still complain that he is violent and a bully. It's also interesting that critics of the show complain that this SC gets physically harassed and bullied by DMS throughout this show... and I am here wondering where all of those critics are when SC kicks DMS in the face for no good reason at all.

I was also initially turned off with all of the changes to the story. But I guess I just love Hana Dan so much that I stuck through with it. It's worth it. The story gets better and Dylan and Shen Yue put on a great performance towards the middle of the series.

I think if we take away all of our initial biases towards the show and take it for what it is, it is a much better watch.
