I'm not sure why people are not into this drama. I personally found ep1 very entertaining and well made. It felt like a good start. I liked the comedy, I liked the acting and editing. And the story feels like it will have a balance of heavy and lighthearted parts. Overall I like it.
What many viewers are noticing now is a concerning pattern in casting decisions in some C-dramas. Instead of prioritizing…
Great comment and you're right! This really diminishes the effort and work of so many creatives that are only trying to do their job best that they can.
Even mature female actors have been the reason of many dramas get so much hate, though I watch and enjoy some…
Yikes.. I can’t believe I’m talking to someone who would cite what a government thinks about art. I think it’s best if we just move on and don’t interact anymore. Btw you can block me too, I don't mind. Wishing you both a nice rest of your MDL experience. :)

When will people like you stop with this “Western culture in Asian historical dramas” or “Asian dramas in general” rhetoric? There have been plenty of Asian dramas over the years with nude or sex scenes, it’s not just a “western” thing. You sound weird saying that. Also sex, kisses and generally intimacy are parts of real life relationships so it's natural when they are tastefully shown on screen. Also I have no idea what you mean by “how can you enjoy watching two strangers with no feelings passionately kiss on screen,” but you don’t sound very open-minded or like someone who really understands or appreciates cinema, filmmaking, or acting as an artform.
Is there any older actress willing to wear minimum make up to portray Chu Qiao, the slave general, to wear rug…
You’re naming ALL the cliches as if that’s what I said they should do? lol I never said that. Also, where do I even start about the “older” actress not wanting to wear makeup or play these elements of the character? Please get a grip. There are COUNTLESS not famous Chinese actresses who could play this character, but because of industry politics they don’t get these kinds of opportunities. Do you really not know how this world works? Also, even without kisses, it still feels weird as fck when I know the actress portraying that kind of desperate love is underage. And kisses are part of the feeling of being “in love” with someone. I don’t know why you speak about it as if kissing is something vulgar.
I know everyone has their own likes and dislikes but things like directing, cinematography, VFX, and post-production sound editing can be judged objectively because there are standards one can use. Rebirth is in no way a badly made drama, it’s clear they used their budget well in post-production, the sound editing here is really good, like Pursuit of Jade had pretty mediocre sound editing in comparison. Their biggest mistake was casting HTT as the female lead. They could’ve cast a strong ADULT actress and the chemistry with LYR would’ve been explosive because from what I've seen so far with the story they’re leaning into that main couple angst of we desperately want each other but can’t be together. It’s such a fcking shame because I see the vision and it could’ve been such an entertaining costume drama. And yeah I know the blood in the first scene of ep1 was an orange mess but if you ignore that, the rest of the scenes aren’t worse than some of your other favorite highly rated cdramas. I saw someone on Twitter say a couple of good kissing scenes would make a big difference in saving this drama's popularity and they’re probably right because it goes back to the main flaw of trying to showcase a desperate love story, but then they cast an actress who wasn’t even legally an adult. P.S. Episode 8 had such an epic scene with the OST and editing, showing LYR seeing Chu Qiao telling him “as long as we're not defeated we can be reborn”. It pissed me off how good it was and then I had to watch HTT act it out. Fck cdrama casting directors and their unreasonable choices.
I've just started Rebitrh bc of the controversy I've seen around it on Twitter. I'm 10min in and it's just clear this drama is really well made. Just its dubbing is miles better than a lot of the most popular costume dramas released this year. It's very unfortunate the production dropped the ball with the marketing and casting of the female lead. Also I just finished Princess Agents bc I wanted to see that adaptation of the story and beyond its production quality that drama had such an iconic female lead actress!
On ep5 and I think I've cracked the story on who did what. It's one of those cases though that I don't mind if it turns out how I think it will bc this drama -even with all its issues- has a lot of compelling elements. Also Wi Hajoon is in my top3 of handsome & good acting skills k-actors. lol
I shouldn't have started this bc now I've devoured all 7 episodes and I'll have to wait for the weekly releases. When people wrote here that it's a wholesome drama I wondered in what way but it truly has so many heart-warming moments! I love this so much!
Isn't Liu Yuning the male lead? What's with the weird romantic music with Gong and Xiaoxi's scenes? I have a feeling all characters in this drama are the kind that are impossible to like...
On 03/03 there will be CNY Day15 Lantern Festival Materials from the Dancing with the Tide drama:

Btw I finished both The Guardians and Royal Nirvana which are director Yang Wenjun's dramas and I'm now certain Dancing with the Tide will be Yuxiao's best work up till this point. I'm super excited for this drama! 💫
It's so nice to see how much more support Lulu gets with the flowers these last 5 weeks. I'm glad people have seen her beautiful personality and great acting and are now showing their support for her here too! 🙏 ❤️
Imagine having actors like Xin Zhilei, Yumiko Cheng and Lin Yushen and not writing a better script for them. Even with the badly written tropes though, it's still so nice to see them act their roles.
I'm still on the early episodes but it's very obvious that this drama is top class!! The story is super interesting and the acting is on another level. I'll write a very solid review for it once I finish it. It seems this is such an underappreciated drama here, seeing as it doesn't even have 1k viewers on its MDL page.
Download the app on your phone, log in to your account there, go to the left tab and find the category "free coins" at the bottom and you can earn 100+coins per day from watching ads. That's one way to earn some coins and of course some people probably buy the coin packages.
Thank you for this info, it really looks like a great opportunity! I'm happy for her and excited for the end-result! Hopefully everything goes well with the filming!
Tbh I went blind into The guardians mostly wanting to check out this directors' way of filming and I was "thank God his shots look serious and not like the soap opera aesthetic I've seen many c-dir do." I also watched royal nirvana's 1st ep and noticed that the shots were good but I had to pause watching that drama bc LBL got released.
If you guys haven't checked out the dramas of her next filming project director (Vincent Yang his MDL page) I strongly recommend them as your next watch. Ive just started "The guardians" (2025) his latest drama which is a Republican theme series(not my favorite genre) but I was so pleasantly surprised. This director is seriously good. Which is great considering I HATE most of the directors that have done successful costume dramas in the last couple of years bc their vision & camera work quality was AT BEST mid. I also have Royal Nirvana in my next watch, another work of this director.
Also I have no idea what you mean by “how can you enjoy watching two strangers with no feelings passionately kiss on screen,” but you don’t sound very open-minded or like someone who really understands or appreciates cinema, filmmaking, or acting as an artform.
