True. In general the scripts and character development are a big issue with the recent kdramas for me. That's why I hope this one lands. I'm not a stan of either but I consider them good actors so I hope this is a good project. PJY especially has had bad scripts as you said and he should finally have one where he can showcase his good acting skills. Let's hope for the best with this one in general.

20 minutes in and it felt like this is going to be the best kdrama of the year. The opening train scene was exceptional, the acting is great, the dialogues very good. Directing, music and editing also very good.
Unless something goes very wrong later which is possible but I doubt it seeing how much detail they've put in the production department already, I can't think of why this isn't going to be a quality drama.

Got it. I understand what you're saying but tbh this method is just so dumb and very infuriating.. At least the directors should care more for the skills shown in previous works, esp since other male non-graduates of film schools have no trouble securing good enough projects. Emphasis on the good ENOUGH bc the costume dramas in the last couple of years have dropped so much in their quality...
Also don't get me started on Moonlit Reunion bc the man was for sure sabotaged with the bad press and while the production was supposedly a big one, I personally had issues with the script and CGI.. The ONLY saving grace for me was Xu Kai's acting and his great chemistry with Tian XiWei, otherwise I would have dropped that 4 episodes in.
Btw, thanks for the reccomendations, I'll check it out when I'm done with this drama and one other I'm currently following.

Does Xu Kai get enough credit for being one of the better actors of the traffic actors gen?
I'm saying this as someone who doesn't have a fave among the male actors so I don't have any kind of personal bias. What I've observed so far is even when the drama is not of the best quality, Xu Kai still gives a very believable performance while also providing very good chemistry with his female leads. I'm semi-aware of the bad press he got last year that paused his momentum for a bit, but even before that I think someone with his looks and skills should have had more quality projects under his belt..

What's with the weird replies every time someone here posts they thought the drama was good? Since when aren't people allowed to come to a drama's page to speak their positive opinion on it?
Like there are so many dramas I drop bc I think they lack in specific parts of their production, but I never go to their comments section to constantly say how bad I think they are and complain on everyone else who said they love them.. lol
Anyway I'm on episode 4 and I find this drama interesting. Mostly bc it's been a long time since I watched a kdrama shot like it's a Korean film.. The episode 4 opening sequence was exceptional in the way it was edited.

It's honestly not only that. The whole production is quality work. They really paid attention to all the departments which is great bc that's what I like to see in the dramas or films I watch. From storytelling, directing and acting to the sound department everything is really well-made.

The actress who plays the FL's mom gave me chills with her acting from the moment she stood on that door at the end of ep1 and looked at the eyes of the birth mom and they exchanged glances. She is truly amazing. All of her scenes are chef's kiss and she has lovely chemistry with Tan Song Yun.
Seriously with every episode I watch, I have nothing but praise for this drama. I'm glad it's doing great in China. So deserving!

I just watched the 1st episode and I cried my eyes out.. The actresses were all amazing.
This is a female-centric story and drama, right? I got that impression from the 1st episode.
And one more thing.. Female director!! Great job judging only from the 1st episode of course.

How come there's no director information on the crew names? Not art director. Director as in the person or people responsible for the general directing. There is a long list of the voice actors but no director..

There's fault at your logic. You're completely misunderastanding human psychology as to why someone will leave thinking it's the better decision on not wanting anyone else to get hurt bc of them. Like what kind of logic are you using when you're saying, he's TOO wiling to die as a negative thing?? Yes he is bc he's not a selfish person and he feels like he's the reason others might get hurt and even though he listens to them and tries to HOPE that they can all fight through the situation, it's still too difficult seeing the pople he loves being in danger bc of him. I hope you are actually VERY young and that's why you think like above and you grow up to expand the way you interpret and understand humanity and its actions. Self sacrifice is not "too suicidal", it's being unable to withstand seeing people get hurt and thinking the only way it would stop is by going at the front and standing yourself in front of the danger. That is Khem's motive when he steps out of the ring. Actually it wouldn't make sense if he stayed IN the ring. It would be like "how are you letting everyone else die just to save your ass" which is literally Khem's prevalent thought at that thought. He is "Peem has sacrificed so many things already, I can't let him die bc of me".

I think this series has one of the best portrayals of a romantic relationship. With the acting and post production choices, I think the couple showed what it feels to be in love with a soul mate which btw is a rare thing. Kudos to everyone esp the Keng Namping pairing. The face and body acting of being in love with someone was impeccable.

It's not lack of backbone. He was trying to persevere for so many years, with his mom dead and only being chased and traumatized by ghosts and incidents constantly trying to attack him. Jet was helping as his only friend but I want to see if you were put into the shoes of this character's back story if you could do better. You think you would but until you experience really traumatic shit you can't really know. Also there's the fear of someone else dying bc of his karmic curse which is what incites the running away and maybe being tired of trying to outrun something that seems unavoidable. I'm explaining my own perspective on the character bc I felt your take lacked a bit of empathy.
