This has been one of my top favorite films in a long time. After seeing Jackie Chan's remake or take of the same 2007 original film, I had to watch this one again. With a renewed perspective, I now felt that the climax or how they dealt with Jung Woosung's character to be lackluster.
"James" had been built up to be a character who had no hesitation to kill anyone who got in his way, but the moment he kidnapped Yoonjoo in the abandoned subway station/platform, I could only close my eyes in disbelief. He could've easily escaped by not trying to get more time by trading it off with a holdup situation.
The film was awesome from the beginning but the writing and characterization really fell flat in the end. Here, I felt the writers became lazy and ran out of creative juices with the ending.
(P.S. I saw how the villain in the original film was dealt and, honestly, that was way much better deserved.)
They both are awkward. ISTG if they could only openly communicate from the start, none of all the drama would've started. (Taking out the psycho villain out of the equation)
the og kang bitna is most likely a bad person.- she was engaged to jeong taegyu, so his family probably often…
was a bit disappointed they didn't show any resolution to the real kang bitna, but your points make sense! also the show has told consistently bad people do go to hell. the "misunderstanding" created in the first ep (i.e., with real kang bitna being a judge so she should be "good" automatically) is just because we haven't yet seen how hell's judgment system works. every tidbit we learned about bitna through the jeongs points out to why she ended up in hell even if she was the one killed -> she was also corrupt.
Came in with low expectations, but this ended up being one of the best series I've ever watched. From the wonderfully scripted episodes to the most heart-wrenching acting performances. Everyone involved in producing this drama deserves a vacation reward! From the cast to production team!
Wasn't much of a fan of her acting before, but she's rocking it with Kang Bitna. I guess there are just roles that suit her. Enjoying every bit of her performance in Judge from Hell.
There was a lot of loopholes especially near the end and it was too frustrating that the antagonists were given waaay too much power over the lives of our beloved protagonists and their family. Yet, overall, I very much enjoyed the drama. It was one hell of a ride! The main leads' performances and scenes truly struck chords in my heart for many times I couldn't keep count already. And the rest of the supporting cast (including the villains, ofc) also gave justice to their characters. They feel so life-like despite the overarching plot being unbelievable. I still couldn't help but also cheer for the happiness of Baek and Hong families.
Good job to everyone involved in the production and promotion of this drama! It may not be unique story-wise, but it has ended as one of a kind drama series!
That was excellent. This got much deeper. But only 4 episodes left...
4 episodes don't seem enough for a resolution., don't you think so? I wish this had season 2 or maybe a short sequel/follow-up special episodes because the concept has potential to be explored further.
I just noticed Kim Goeun hasn’t been in that many projects but she is very well known and just about all her…
she chooses her projects really well. And maybe because she had a strong start as a Chungmuro actress and portrays every role so well, producers/directors approach her with such strong scripts and they want to cast her all the time.
