After the one-week conclusion of this breathtaking drama, I came to realize the following:
I don't think personally it was more about a good, happy, or even sad ending. I think it was more about the journey really, like the storyline, character development, and the growing love between the main leads in those turbulent times.
I will agree that the ending could have been handled much better. To be honest I can't knock them for that while they gave me a great drama with an emotional rollercoaster. I also think it's fair to say that a good ending, particularly in Korean drama is slime to none.
I really can look back and close off this year by saying this drama is without a single doubt the best of 2023. I can't wait to see the main leads flourish and take on new roles in the future or even next year.
Guys, again I want to thank you for the amazing time we had over the past 3 months. Hopefully, I can see you on the next best drama to come until then take care and stay healthy. 🫡
Namgoong Min And Ahn Eun Jin have won 5 awards at the 2023 Grimae Awards. They won the category Best and Actor and Actress.
Well deserved for their hard work and performance, hopefully, this is the first in a line of more awards. Here below is the article published by Soompi:
My dear watchers, I'm currently torn between hoping it could have stayed longer and a forever goodbye. Dramas like this with a clear understanding of storytelling, writing, and directing don't come often. I'm happy to say I was here from the start and really watched it every week it was airing. It's crazy to already know that our main lead cast will go their own separate ways. Dive into the new dramas or movies, but one thing is for sure they have left a great memory. A memory which we will remember for a long time. To my fellow viewers, thank you for sharing this unforgettable journey. It’s been an incredible experience filled with love, great storytelling, and the magic of filmmaking that we’ll treasure for years to come.
"This is very concerning and an insult to say the least." WHY would this be "concerning"? An "insult" to say the…
😓Dude have you read the MBC statement in the Soompi article? They literally have said we can't answer regarding the filming schedule. If they according to you already have finished filming why weren't they open about it and very clear? The reason why it's concerning is because of the health and well-being of the cast and staff. So it baffles me that you lack some empathy concerning the staff and cast members.
it's almost unbelievable to believe the cast will be filming until the 18th of November. This means the drama has been filmed for over a year without a proper rest. This is very alarming because there is no afterthought about the cast and crew conditions. Imagine only sleeping for 2 hours and getting ready for filming. A lot of people undermine what it takes to be an actor and actress in Korea. I hope there is or will be an organization that can guarantee the health and safety of the crew and cast. This gives me a very bad and nasty feeling especially when I'm gonna watch the drama knowing this is going on behind the scenes.
Let me start with this, this is hands down the best Korean drama of 2023. In the whole of 2023 up until the first episode of My Dearest. I never thought I would come across a drama that perfected the following:
1: A clear storyline
2: One of the best character development
3: Including & respecting historical timeline
4: Use of soundtrack & instrumental
5: Realistic approach & growth of the main lead love
I can't Phantom for over 19 episodes straight this drama maintains the quality of filming, writing, and direction. From episode 18 the speed of the story started and it was great. It didn't feel out of place or rushed, but they made sure to dedicate a huge portion of the episode and it fit perfectly.
Next week the unthinkable will happen 😭🤧 the final episodes. So far it has been a great journey, a hell of a roller coaster, and nerve-wracking moments. As always let's go out with a banger next week salute 🫡
It has been now officially confirmed by Soompi that there will be one extended episode. So in total, it's gonna be 21 instead of 20. I hope and pray they will have a happy ending but it's 50/50 at this point. 👇🏽 below is the link to the article.
Can someone please explain to me what Gil Chae meant by the end of episode 17, when she said about being defiled? Was she physically assaulted, touched or God forbid even raped? Since that episode, I couldn't get it out of my mind, so please guys if you know what I'm trying to say. I would love to read your reaction, answers, and perspective on it. As always thank you very much in advance.
I swear to god, I just don't even know what or how to review this drama anymore. It's like for once, the writer, director, cast & crew are literally in a kind of sync and understanding. Never have I seen such a level of directing, acting & writing. Not once did I feel like it was getting boring, dragging, or not making sense anymore. The love story between the main cast has been progressing so great. No rushing and no wasted dialogue. I'm already sad knowing it's gonna end very soon. But every perfect drama has to end. At least we will go out with a blast and I hope and pray for a happy ending that's the least they deserve.
lately, I'm seeing a lot of trolls here in the comments, who only bash this drama. For my fellow watchers, please don't entertain them just ignore them. Think about this quote when you come across someone like them:
Don't respond to the stupidity of a fool; you'll only look foolish yourself. Answer a fool in simple terms so he doesn't get a swelled head.
Hands down this is one if not the best Korean drama of 2023. I also don't see any other drama topped. Unfortunately, we are nearing the end of this beautiful & breathtaking drama. The following statements are what makes this drama so good.
1: Since episode 1 they never wasted a single scene, every scene had a thought behind it and served a purpose. This is not an easy job to do especially if you have 20 episodes in total. A big kudos for the writer and director.
2: The chemistry between the main leads is on another level. It reminds me of Kim Soo Hyun and Seo Ye Ji. It's not only that good but also believable which most dramas fail with.
3: They took their time to explain the story well in terms of history, geopolitics, society, and the aftermath of the invasion.
4: Last but not least is the consistency and commitment of the cast. They have put in their tears, blood, and sweat. Just imagine the long hours of physical input and many reshoots.
Episode 17 will probably be one of the best episodes so far. They finally will have their well-deserved moments of showing their feelings to one another. Can't wait any longer 😭🤧.
New stills have been released about the upcoming 15th episode. It's been reported by Soompi that the production team has mentioned. A huge portion of tonight's episode will focus on the love of Jang Hyun and Gil Chae. Can't wait to see it.😭
I can't believe this amazing drama is gonna end soon 🤧🥲😭. But on the other hand, you want them to have a beautiful closure. Also, I'm very curious about next year the new project they will take on. It will be hard not to think back on this amazing drama when they shine in their new projects. Man, I'm hating this feeling😖.
2 years have passed since they met at that unfortunate moment. It was so intense & heartbreaking to see Jang Hyun see the girl he loves so dearly being treated like an animal. Gil Chae knowing he saw her, wanted to hide her face and not look at him man it got me in tears. Besides that what also got into me was the cruel reality of many Joseon women had to face. Being seen as a sexual object which you can dispose of whenever you feel like it. Then her cowardly husband who I think only married her because of her good looks and popularity. He never truly cared enough to go to the limit. When he felt like it was already late or immediately believed the rumors he gave up I'm disgusted. But their short memory of sitting across from each other and just talking. It made me feel some type of way, especially when it was a long time coming since the first episode. Then we got to the final part when he was running towards her almost in agony and fear. I think at that moment he realized she was the one. I don't even know anymore how to describe this incredible drama. Can't wait for the upcoming episodes.
