I think my biggest criticism of this show is that it should have been 8 to 12 very competent and compelling episodes.

I like the story and the characters enough, but I can't help feeling the slow, almost painful passage of time whenever I watch an episode.

To me, it feels like Iwanaga just isn't ready to talk about his feelings around being tossed out by his mother just because he wanted to run away with a boy. It's obviously left some deep scars and I also wonder if he doesn't bring it up with Miyata because he doesn't want Miyata to feel like this is his fault (which happens anyway in ep 5).

The 'break-up' seems like Iwanaga taking time to deal with his family without involving Miyata but I also think Miyata needs that time apart to sort through his own feelings and decide how far he's willing to go with Iwanaga. It seems like he knows that he loves Iwanaga but his insecurities keep getting in the way, so it would be nice for him to work through them and then communicate with Iwanaga. I don't think he ever even told Iwanaga about the message he received and the picture, unless I missed that.

As for Iwanaga's mother, she's lucky he turned out decent cos I would simply take over the family business and sell it to a foreigner cos I'm petty like that. The least he can do for them is refuse to return, honestly.

I’m genuinely baffled by the people who are still questioning Takashi’s sincerity after EP4..
Me too because he has been declaring his intention and acting on his sincerity for several episodes now. He said he wants to spend the rest of his life with Akihiro and is showing his affection in his way (including a cheesy, over-the-top bouquet of flowers). Also people keep saying he sleeps around when we've only ever been told that he was with his assistant and that ended because he wanted something serious and the assistant wanted a fling. It feels like there are hidden episodes of the show some people are watching that the rest of us haven't seen cos I don't get it.

After ep 8, I'm starting to think that Hae In is Eun Seong's weakness. Also, there was a scene some episodes ago that made me wonder if he really even cares that much about this scheme cos if he did all this as some roundabout way to get Hae In, then he's in for a very rude awakening. She's told him over and over that she has no interest in him but he thinks he can control her with money.

The grandfather choosing the words of some hokey shaman over the advice of a very competent lawyer makes me even less sympathetic to his situation. He's a big idiot who abandoned his kids because of his mistress and he deserves a bitter end. As someone said, I just feel bad for Hae In, her dad and her brother. Her mother can kick rocks.

I'm very curious about how they're going to come back from all this, but hopefully this turn also means that all the traitors in the family have been revealed. I also wonder why Hyun Woo didn't tell Hae In about that snake finding out about her illness. I feel like that's information she should've had already and I hope they don't assume we'll forget about that without a proper explanation (unless I missed something).

Very excited for the next episodes and praying nothing happens to Hae In.

question for the detectives heredid the sister and the husband sleep together multiple times? i saw some ppl saying…
To me, it looked like the sister took advantage of him being drunk and vulnerable but then, the other question is what did the congressman show the husband to get him to back off the investigation before? Everyone is saying it was evidence of the sister leaving the house gate open but I don't think so.

Soo Hyun is better than me cos I'd simply go to Seon Yul's mother's room and let him know we can both go down if he wants to play stupid games. Anytime he starts going on about his parents and their pain I just keep repeating "dude, your father killed a child and got away with it". Anyway, as they say, an eye for an eye leaves the world blind so of course he's too obsessed to see any other angle. Soo Hyun does a lot of thinking, which would be great, except it's obviously not enough, cos how did she not see him going to her mother next? It's literally what he did with the first photo when she didn't give him the reaction he wanted.

I feel like this show is deliberately slow cos a lot of meaningless staring could have been things happening to move this plot along and then maybe we'd be done in 12 episodes instead of 14.

Actually I've decided that if Hae-in dies I'm going to hunt this writer down and get vengeance 😭😭. They're finally communicating and I'm so happy, but those divorce papers will surely crop up now to cause more problems.

I like the flashbacks to show the breakdown of the relationship and it's just as I suspected. Losing a child is so devastating and instead of going through it together, they were isolated because of the miscommunication between them. I want more episodes of them being happy cos they deserve to be happy especially together.

I'm also looking forward to whatever fruits will come from her aunt's investigation into the old man's mistress. That woman is definitely trying to bring their family down and I'd like to know more about her motives.

I would understand Seon Yul's feelings to some extent if he wasn't already grown when his father died. He was old enough to see that his father literally got away with murder so if he thinks his revenge is justified, what the hell did he expect of a mother whose son was killed and she had to watch the killer walk free for no reason? His head was buried deep in the sand when it was his father on trial but now he's an avenger for this misguided vengeance. Unfortunate and disappointing.

In other news, I really wish Soo Hyun and her husband weren't so busy hiding things from each other cos they would've figured all this out a lot sooner if they were sharing information. I'm also glad that the husband/sister affair is finally out in the open and I hope next week we'll see the plot move some more.

Seon Yul is so funny cos what does he mean he wants to take everything precious from Soo Hyun as if his father didn't already kill her son and then complain about the child's death being a nuisance after he got away with a tap on the wrist? He's talking about his parents being hurt and their lives being ruined and ignoring the very horrible crime his father committed and the fact that Soo Hyun did not ger justice for her son's death. That young man needs a cold splash of reality.

I also get the feeling that the congressman had something to do with Seon Yul's mother's accident cos everything around that is so fishy and instead of using his big brain to figure that out, he's busy harassing a woman who already lost everything. Disappointing to say the least.

Finally, the sister + husband reveal needs to happen soon cos I'm already tired of all the tension around those two.

Once I got past my usual expectations for a romance kdrama, I found this to be very soothing and wholesome in a very reassuring way. It's not perfect but I like the message of rediscovering yourself at your lowest moment and the message of forgiving yourself and others, and finally the message of being comfortable with yourself and finding someone who appreciates you for who you are. These stood out the most to me and I enjoyed how they were conveyed in the drama.

Overall, I gave it an 8/10 even though I started out at a 7/10 because at the end of the final episode I felt a sense of peace I don't often associate with dramas. It gave us two quirky, loveable, troubled characters who helped each other find some things to love more about the world and ways to bring real joy and peace to each other's lives. I liked that.

Does anyone know how Ji Han's manager, Eun Taek, became his driver/assistant? Like in what order did it happen?…
It's because Ji Han is undercover at the company. No one is supposed to know of his connection to the family so he can work from the bottom up, but the manager works for the family directly so his placement there is not a coincidence.

I'll just say, the mere existence of a character does not make it a love triangle. Hae In has zero interest in the new man besides business so I have no problem with him being here. If anything, he'll act as a trigger for Hyun Woo which we can already see with him getting jealous now even though he was about to divorce her.

I'm still expecting someone to find the divorce petition at a crucial moment and turn it into a big unnecessary conflict lol. I'm enjoying the show so far but I do worry about how they're going to make this plot fill 16 episodes.

I personally don't understand why everyone is freaking out about Suho being with someone else after she told him he had no place in her life and even sent him divorce papers. I get that she already admitted that she isn't having the reaction she expected, but everyone seems to be overreacting to me. He's a human being and he lost both his child and his wife at pretty much the same time. Then while he was fighting for them, she gave up and told him to go. She practically pushed him at the other woman. I expected the picture to be dated before the accident not while she was in prison.

I still want to know what they had on Suho that made him give up the investigation. That's the real kicker. I don't really care who he was with after they split up. There are only 2 other women in the show that are close to him so that's not a surprise no matter what.

If she still in love with him, she would've find ways to settle down things btw them. She doing nothing except…
Didn't she apologize to ML for not communicating during their relationship and for letting things get so bad? I could've sworn that happened. She accepted that she was also at fault and she told him she was sorry. right? And what guy is she giving mixed signals? Cos she told him he's not it and she's not about to quit her job because someone decided he likes her and had to tell her about it even though she never showed any interest in him. That would be insane lol.

Not Ji Han setting a trap for himself with his new mission! This is going to be so entertaining.

I really wish he would actually have a conversation with Do Han that's not him trying to dictate what Do Han should be doing or being judgy about Do Han's choices. If he actually cared about Do Han's happiness, it would be easy to see that him being involved in the family is not the key to that happiness. He's obviously spent a lot of time and energy crafting this persona that puts Do Han ahead of himself, but I think he doesn't realize that he's never really centered Do Han in any of his plans, just his ideas for what Do Han should or could be because he thinks that will make his own life happy.

This is too funny. Pulling out documents for a person driving a car to respond to has to be one of the stupidest things I have seen yet. Not to mention, if she really thought he was involved in such a dangerous situation, why would she get in the car with him? I know she doesn't seem to have any sense of self-preservation but she's supposed to be smart. She walked out of the police station and decided to play detective on her own? Lol. I get that JW said he didn't want to look into it any more but why not involve the friends who all knew about it too? Why not tell the police? Hell, why not have this gotcha meeting with Kyung Min at one of the many cafes or bars that they love to frequent? It's the type of illogical character choice that makes me want to pull my hair out.

I still can't get over her showing all her printouts to Kyung Min WHILE HE WAS DRIVING LMAO. The fact that they didn't have the accident while he was attempting to look at her stupid papers is actually the most unbelievable part of the story.

The writing is one of the things that's making it hard for me to get into these characters lol

I get the family intrigue and all that but I'm not really rooting for any of the leads at this point. In fact the only person that amuses me and keeps me interested is their father. The whole scheme with him in the hospital wasn't a twist for me but I enjoy seeing him get one over on his wife.

I didn't buy Tae Oh's speech about only living for In Ha cos what is the motivation really? Unless they're going to reveal that he's secretly in love with In Ha, there's no way that he can convince anyone that he doesn't have an agenda of his own. I hope the reveal will be interesting and maybe even a little shocking.

The Queen Dowager is so funny to me cos what do you mean the king should let his uncle live when that man literally tried to murder your son in front of you??? She should be the one calling for his head before anyone else!

Court Lady Dong was a disappointment to the very end. She decided to kill herself and still didn't just tell him outright that the principal director was the one pulling her strings. "I received orders" made me want to reach through my screen and hasten her death. Since she already chose death why not just give him clear answers about what's happening around him? Good riddance, honestly.

No comment on Myung-ha cos that turnaround gave me whiplash. Apparently he's a genius strategist as well and it's just been hidden for 14 episodes. Now he figured out the King's secret and captured that slimey weasel to seal the principal director's fate. Huzzah!
