Dunk's acting(he interprets the character well but his acting lacks fluidity and is unbearably awkwardly), the dance scene, and the fight choreography are all cringe as hell and have me fighting to keep watching this series. The only thing keeping me going is FirstKhao's chemistry and the storyline.

OMG HEETAE HAS SM TRAUMA BROSKI like wdym his friend kyung soo, a pro-democratic activist, made heetae treat other injured protesters e.g stitching wounds and wrapping bandages and wtv but then this girl sukchul comes along and she lost a lot of blood, and so heetae told his friend to go to the clinic nearby and get some stuff, yet on his way kyungsoo was caught, and arrested and sent to the military. Sookchul was presumably treated which is why she’s in a hospital bed and wanted to go home which is why heetae is going through desperate measures to get her transferred to Gwangju because he BLAMES himself for what had happened, and all those memories came flooding in when he fed an orphan that was residing at the orphanage that heetae and myunghee visited and that orphan had Gastroparesi, so she couldn't eat food or she would start vomiting, so he started blaming himself, saying everything he touches breaks, so he is t qualified to be doctor. Myunghee comforts him by saying that for a fact he will be a good doctor since he is feeling so much guilt indicating he is a responsible person. AND WHILST ALL THIS WAS HAPPENING HEETAE’S DAD TOOK SOORYEON IN FOR “QUESTIONING” SUNCE SHE WAS CAUGHT WITH ONE OF THE LEADERS OF THE PRO-DEMOCRACY MOVEMENT AND HEETAE’S DAD THREATENED HER SAYING IF SHE DID ANYTHING WRONG IT WOULDN'T BE HER GETTING AFFECTED BUT HER LOVED ONES INSTEAD AND THAT THIS IS HER LAST CHANCE. and plus her brother invested with some people who were introduced to him by heetae’s dad so if sooryeon backed out of the marriage, her brother and father would experience the aftermath. So for now she has to go along for the sake of her brother and father especially since her father’s company was struggling and her brother’s company just started, even though it would look bad on her as an activist who supports pro-democracy marrying a military officer’s son, as well as her the guy her best friend liked. AND I THOUGHT THEY BOTH GOT TOGETHER BUT AFTER HER STRUMMED THE GUITAR AND MADE A MELODY AND ASKED HER OUT SHE TOLD HIM TO GIVE HIM TIME AND EVENTUALLY A FEW DAYS LATER AFTER WORK, IT WAS THE NIGHT AND HE WAS WAITING WITH ROSES, HE EVEN WROTE IN HIS LETTER TO KYUNGSOO ABOUT HOW HE FINALLY KNEW WHAT LOVE IS, YET WHEN MYUNGHEE GETS TO THE PLACE HEETAE WAS WAITING FOR HER OUTSIDE HER HOME, SHE ASKS HIM IF HE COULD JUST MARRY SOORYEON INSTEAD LIKE WHATATTTT

First ImpressionWell… this episode really said betrayal, chaos, and a kiss to top it all off.Episode ThoughtsThe biggest shock? Captain Li being the mole. Finding out his grandfather has been working with Qi Min explains so much about how Qi Min has stayed ahead this whole time. ML confronting him and telling him to stay true to himself should’ve hit harder, but honestly it feels like Captain Li is too far gone—more puppet than man at this point.Qi Min continues to prove he’s completely unhinged. Killing without hesitation, manipulating Sui Yuanhuai before stabbing him, and then ordering Captain Li to kill Bao’er—a literal child. At this point, if he gets anywhere near the throne, there will be no one left standing. On a softer note, the Royal Princess and Mr Sun finally get their moment. That emotional confession and his desire to marry her? Beautiful. After everything, she deserves that happiness. Then we have our main couple… and wow. A drunk FL still trying to keep her distance, ML trying to break through, and somehow “My Lord” becomes the trigger for a very unexpected (and very steamy) kiss—witnessed by others no less. Messy, emotional, and exactly what we needed.Back in the capital, the gossip keeps getting worse. The revelation about the Prime Minister’s son not being his biological child adds yet another layer to the political tension, especially in how differently he’s treated compared to the ML.Character Notes • FL: Even drunk, she’s still holding that emotional line. The internal conflict is real. • ML: Still trying to reach her, still choosing her—even when she’s pushing him away. • Captain Li: Disappointing. Being the mole changes everything, and not in a good way. • Qi Min: Truly terrifying. No morals, no hesitation, just pure chaos. • Royal Princess & Mr Sun: Finally getting their moment—soft, emotional, and well deserved.Final ThoughtsThis episode balanced betrayal, romance, and political tension so well. The stakes are getting higher, and with Qi Min spiralling and secrets coming out, I’m honestly a little scared for everyone.Favourite MomentThat unexpected kiss—chaotic, emotional, and completely unforgettable.Trope Check • Hidden mole / betrayal • Unhinged villain • Drunken confession / kiss • Political gossip & secrets • Emotional confession • Star-crossed lovers tension

First ImpressionThis episode was bursting from the seams—so much happened and not a single dull moment.Episode ThoughtsEverything feels like it’s escalating at once. Captain Li is forced to friend-zone himself to protect the FL’s reputation—which honestly feels like karma catching up to him. His actions caused this, and now he has to deal with the consequences. The imperial decree revealing the ML as the future Prince Consort was everything. It completely shifts the dynamics and makes things even harder between him and the FL. You can feel how this adds pressure, especially when he’s already struggling to get back into her good books. He also proves he’s not to be messed with—he’s strategic but not afraid to get his hands bloody.Meanwhile, Qi Min continues to be pure chaos. Sending Sui Yuanhuai to his downfall, manipulating everything from the shadows, and then casually stabbing his own ally’s mother? At this point, no one is safe around him. He’s unpredictable in the most dangerous way.The FL starts connecting the dots about Qi Min, leading to that eerie raid where they find nothing but death. The tension there was insane. When the ML arrives, the distance between them is still very much there, and Mr Jin doesn’t help by throwing “Prince Consort” around like it’s nothing—honestly dangerous behaviour. But despite everything, the ML makes it clear: he understands her thoughts, and he loves her regardless. That moment said so much about where he stands.Ending on ML’s plan to use Sui Yuanhuai as bait to trap Qi Min was genius—and Captain Li being left in the dark? His reaction was priceless.Character Notes • FL: Still sharp and observant, starting to piece everything together. Her leadership and instincts are really shining now. • ML: Strategic, intense, and emotionally unwavering. Even with the distance, his feelings for her are crystal clear. • Qi Min: Completely unhinged but incredibly compelling. Every scene with him raises the stakes. • Captain Li: Facing consequences and being sidelined—his reaction says it all.Final ThoughtsThis episode pushed the story forward in such a big way. The politics, the emotional tension, the power plays—it’s all building beautifully. I’m so ready to see how this plan against Qi Min plays out.Favourite MomentThe imperial decree revealing ML as Prince Consort—absolute chaos and I loved every second.Trope Check • Identity revelation / status shift • Power struggle / court politics • Unhinged villain • Emotional distance between leads • Strategic mastermind ML • “I love you despite everything” energy

So mysterious, so captivating! Every glance stops your heart, every word adds a whole new layer to the story. Her presence sharpens the intrigue and intensifies the emotions. First ImpressionA quieter episode, but emotionally heavy with tension that really hurts.Episode ThoughtsThis episode leans into the emotional fallout rather than action, and you can really feel it. The FL is struggling to process the truth about her father—being labelled a traitor and tied to the ML’s father’s death—and instead of facing it together, she creates distance. What makes it hurt more is that the ML doesn’t want that distance. He’s trying to understand what’s happening, but she’s the one pulling away, reducing their relationship to something formal. That shift—from closeness to “Your Lordship”—felt cold, and you can tell it’s affecting him just as much.Meanwhile, court politics continue to be frustrating. The constant bickering feels petty, especially when it’s clear they’re willing to sacrifice lives for power.Captain Li attempts a grand apology, but it’s complicated. His feelings are obvious, but the FL firmly places him in the “brother” zone. Worse, his actions have unintentionally made her a target, and his belief that he can protect her feels completely misplaced. We also get a small but meaningful moment with Bao’er and Manager Yu reuniting, along with a subtle hint that Bao’er’s future could become something much bigger. The emotional core of the episode is the FL feeling adrift. She’s the one creating the distance, but you can tell she feels the loss of him deeply. It’s that push-and-pull that makes everything feel so heavy.Character Notes • FL: Emotionally overwhelmed and choosing distance as a form of protection, even if it hurts both of them. • ML: Trying to understand and close the gap, but left on the outside. That contrast really stands out. • Captain Li: Apologetic but still misguided. His actions are creating more problems than solutions. • Royal Court figures: Petty, power-driven, and frustrating. • Bao’er & Manager Yu: A soft moment that hints at something bigger for Bao’er.Final ThoughtsThis episode is all about emotional tension and misalignment. One wants to understand, the other is pulling away—and it hurts to watch. Everything feels like it’s building toward a major reveal.Favourite MomentThe subtle emotional shift when she distances herself while he’s clearly trying to understand—painful but so well done.Trope Check • Emotional Distance (one-sided) 💔 • Miscommunication / Withholding Truth • Hidden Family Secret 👀 • Love Triangle Tension • Political Power Struggle

Bestes Kostümdrama seit langem, alle Schauspieler spielen perfekt.

ITS CALLED IT BECAUSE MYUNGHEE AND HEETAE START DATING IN MAY 1980 UNTIL THE END OF THE MONTH WHERE SHE’S SCHEDUELED TO LEAVE FOR ABROAD. at first she broke up with him so they only have “happy” memories but then heetae decided to be myunghee’s landord’s daughter’s tutor and he stayed afterwards for dinner and eventually after dinner heetae stayed over and in the middle of night heetae uses the landlord’s son’s guitar (the son is enlisted in the military so he’s not in the scene) and whilst doing so wakes up myunghee who both then have a talk and eventually come to an agreement that they should date until the end of May, BUT heetae’s dad is catching up to them because at sochan’s opening ceremony for his new pharmaceuticals company where the gain licensed patents and create medicines in Korea instead of importing them from abroad, heetae’s dad notices how heetae was always staring at myunghee even though heetae was supposedly to be in love with sooryeon, and so he got suspicious and ordered his men to tail his OWN son, and I THINK myunghee & her dad have a connection with heetae’s since we saw a past memory where heetae was looking through a gap in the door, and saw myunghee screaming at her dad saying “I DIDNT DO IT!” or something along those lines. AND I THINK SOOCHAN HAS ONESIDED LOVE FOR MYUNGHEE BECAUSE HE’S ALWAYS GOING IUT OF HIS WAY FOR HER LIKE HE SO KING AND UGHUGHH and it was so funny when heetae visited soonryeon whilst she was protesting at the top of a building, saying heetae wanted to go on a date with sooryeon, only for to get pissed and stand on the edge of the rooftop only to slip, and luckily get saved by heetae. And once they got to the hospital they started arguing, which amplified to myunghee how alike they were, reminding her of what soochan said saying “although they may squabble, they will live happy lives together” or something, idk. But it kinda added on to myunghee’s list of excuses as to why she shouldn’t go on those dates with heetae anymore until heetae decided to convince in the end to go out with her YAYAYAY.

This episode was so GOOD, by far my favourite episode. We are introduced to some new important characters who are all finally in one place. I LOVED the introduction of Sui Yuanqing, him and his brother are such interesting villains and their storylines are so different to the male lead, they're both such huge red flags that I hope to see a lot more of. The story finally moves forward with the politics and war, we're going to be seeing a more military storyline soon which would be such a nice breath of fresh air, seeing only Chanyu's village storyline was getting a bit boring and I am so excited to see her in a new environment with new characters soon.

Pengyu warns Jiang about the dangers of hyenas. He did score points for his detailed account of a heart attack. That struck a chord with Jiang later. How fitting that Jiang’s chair is fashioned like a cobra. This is how he feels and what he wants to project on the stock floor. I was surprised along with Ren to find him hiding out in her office. They have PR flu and nobody from the dept showed up for work. I also think he was rummaging through her laptop to see what he could find. It is interesting that the ‘Market Master’ was hiding out in the same treatment hospital that YuCi was sent to. He has been tracked down by Beauty Pearl Society, but he refuses to reveal his intentions if any to the hellfire that is Bosi. They did say he owned the hospital earlier, and given the level of clawing for the top, a mental hospital would prove a good hiding place. So the mother and daughter at home is ChenXi number 1. I am thinking his handkerchief had the last remnants of his wife’s scent and a treasured possession. I am disgusted that he beat her and agreed with daughter that mommy was bad again.🤬 It is even more reprehensible that he encourages his daughter to be a monster. She is headed to be LiangLiang 2.0. PengYu has no clue he has been betrayed by LiangLiang. They have absolutely no intention of giving him control of their stock. This is the first time I have seen an origami spinner. I found that an interesting detail. ChenXi is getting nervous but when spinner was opened, Jiang had already predicted 19%, he just knew that was as far as they could go. PengYu missed the press conference where Gma Bai has stated they will not be involved with Bosi takeover. I was not happy to see YuCi back in Jiang’s office. He had to reluctantly admit he had no intention of renewing her projects. He pushed the matter towards Li saying if Li funded it, they could move forward together. As if.😝🙄 She walks to the beat of her own drum and she has no more intention of moving forward together than he does. She did, however, approach Li with her business proposals. I am sure he knows who ‘really’ did the legwork for finding out about his son. Unlike others he shares tea with, YuCi commented on how the tea makes you feel drinking it. She did come with hat in hand for money, but she backed it up with what she had already done for him and the benefits of putting her projects back to work. Pengyu had plans for LiangLiang and not only did she slam them away, she didn’t even bother sharing the meal. He’s just another stepping stone. He realizes he’s been used but I don’t think he recognizes that she’s set him up to lose as well. I would like him to put the vendor floor back in operation to spite her, but there is no telling how broken he will be when he realizes the full extent of her betrayal. I am waiting for YuCi to prove to all these amoral predators that they are very mistaken to think good people lack game. The Bosi Director is looking like a wounded animal with the vultures circling. I really want somebody to bail him out and kick both vultures to the curb.😝I am also especially disgusted with LiangLiang for putting TianTian in that position knowing damn well how it felt.🤬 She has no shame at all. Something like that should have made that restaurant memorable and who rescued her. However, PengYu thinking a place where she was almost assaulted as romantic was a huge misstep. The other was her having any appreciation for any of his efforts or that she ever considered him her hero. He was just another stone discarded when no longer of use. I am hoping next episode finishes up war for Bosi. I don’t want either of them to get the company.

OMG I swear to god if the producers pull out some heartbreaking backstory for heetae im genuinely gonna crash because he’s so kind and charismatic its insane, like myunghee tried to get him disgusted from this really run-down restaurantand then he goes “I've used to eat people’s leftovers, so this is fine.” LIKE WHO DID THIS TO MY BEBEH HEETAE and myunghee’’s brother makes ME SOB because he loves his noona and abooji (see the Korean lang I used there ;) ) yet they're fighting like broskiki, I have a feeling myunghee’s dad wasted all their money on gambling even though he was successful athlete, just like his son is rn, until he experienced an accident. Low-key my hypothesis cooked. WHEN HEETA DUNKED WATER ON MYUNGHEE’S COWORKERS FOR SHITTALKING HER I WAS SO GASSED LIKE YES DUDEE, he probably knew myunghee wasn't sooryeon by then, because why else would he get pissed about somebody shittalking about myunghee, a person who he shouldn't “technically” know. AND I ALREADY KNOW THEY GONNA PAINT HEETAE’S BROTHER JUNGATE AS SOME VILLIAN EVEN THOUGH ALL HE WANTS IS HIS FATHERS RECOGNITION but im lowkey excited for the brother in laws scrap (get it? Heetae brother and myunghee brother ifykyk) BUT I HATE HEETAE’S DAD LIKE HE SO BITCHY YET HE ACTS ALL RELIGIOUS (im probably hypocritical for saying that) BUT UGH I HATE HIM

Omg I have no words how disgusted I am with Jiang and ChenXi. 🤬They made a mockery of his wife so he would look like a human instead of a shark. That she came up with that idea makes it even more unpalatable. These two deserve each other. I really loathe both of them as much as Liang Liang. He promised those green companies they could stay intact and then halted production because he and PengYu are in a race to see who will have majority shares to get Bosi. They both are neglecting all other projects to have maximum holding of shares in a race to see who will gain the stock advantage. We get the backstory of PengYu’s dad who used to be a friend of Jiang. They were in business together until Jiang used him as a stepping stone to get Lysen. He undercut the business transaction so that PengYu’s dad was put out of business by the ‘friend’ he trusted the most. Like LiangLiang he uses all around him as stepping stones to claw his way to the top. He does this brazenly making no apology for his actions and no remorse (other than for show) for the people who become collateral damage. I don’t think he takes pleasure in it like LiangLiang does, but he heartlessly accepts that as the price to continue his climb. He proves this sentiment in his talk to Ren on handling YuCi if she doesn’t come back to Lysen. He wants to be sure she cannot work independently away from him. He is a disgusting piece of work and that painting behind him is so truthful of his real character. LiangLiang has double pronged the attack by making PengYu close down the street vendors renovation project so he can use her Bai stocks to beat Jiang in getting Bosi. He is so caught up in revenge for his father that he gladly accepts the condition and all the vendors are homeless. This is how Lysen conducts business. They make an offer too good to be true and then yank the rug under the ‘commoners’ expecting their very small portion of the business deal as promised. The promise is only valid til the paperwork signed and then they are pebbles to be tossed away. YuCi is out of hospital and has quietly looked into things. She doesn’t conduct business like Lysen and she is determined to see her two projects put back on track. She has a very candid conversation with PengYu’s mom hoping she can push PengYu into doing the right thing and reopen the street vendors location. His mom gives YuCi the Readers Digest condensed version of her history up to MuRan’s suicide. She doesn’t see them as enemies but she also makes it clear her son makes his own choices. She is willing to wait to see how the Bosi battle plays out. YuCi hopes for the best but she is a bit stunned with the closure. She knows who is behind it and has to be careful with moves because Gma Bai is included in Liang Liang’s actions. Chen Mo tried to talk her out of doing more for the vendors and to just stay out of it entirely and live a happier life. She refuses to let them be collateral damage and is well aware she and LiangLiang are not done yet. Her parting letter with Chen Mo is read again. She has tried to cut ties. She says he will be a weakness if they continue, but she is protecting him and distancing herself from everybody. She has been warned this round will be personal and the street vendors eviction is the first salvo. Jiang meets with PengYu and really thinks they are going to shake hands and be friendly. I do wish PengYu would have brushed him aside but not look like a petulant child while doing it. The gloves are off and it’s unclear where YuCi will position herself while these two enemies exact their own revenge. I am curious if she will be spectator or add her own nuance to the battle and who she will side with? I am thinking Jiang doesn’t consider PengYu an enemy. He is of the mind ‘it’s just business and nothing personal.’

I am literally a mess after Episode 8! 😭 I never expected Duang to be such a top-tier character, he is so precious and adorable. Seeing him cry for the first time actually broke my heart into pieces. I didn't think this show would get me this emotional, but the acting is so sincere. 10/10, I'm obsessed!

Episode 33 of Pursuit of Jade kicks off with Xie Zheng putting Li Huai An on notice for teaming up with Qi Min, and honestly I’m sitting here like… sir, why are we doing this detour arc when we all know your moral compass is set to “justice and peace only”? It feels like a classic “for the plot, we suffer” moment because deep down we know he’s going to boomerang back to Xie Zheng and Chang Yu anyway. Speaking of chaos, Qi Min versus Sui Yuan Qing finally happens and wow, the cinematography during the soldiers’ deaths was straight up tragically gorgeous, like a grim painting you can’t look away from. But Sui Yuan Qing’s end? Way too quick, almost blink-and-he’s-gone, which feels off for someone built up as both a filial son with a vengeance and a full-on unhinged menace. Him asking Shi San Niang to pass evidence to Chang Yu with his last breath had me going “huh?” because last I checked, that man was not on Team Chang Yu, but I guess revenge against mom’s killer overrides all grudges. The self-neck-slice plus Shi San Niang cradling his head was lowkey shocking for a costume drama, so kudos to the show for daring to go a bit gory, even if from a polite zoomed-out distance. Then the emotional whiplash hits as we jump into sweetness with Yin Gong Sun and Qi Shu, plus Xie Zheng and Chang Yu playing ultimate wingmen like “go confess, king” while their own love life is already thriving, because yes, giving advice is easier when it’s not your own heart on the line. Yin Gong Sun’s confession and proposal felt very them, soft yet grounded, and both Li Qing and Yu Zhong Li really sold that yearning and sincerity, with Li Qing flexing his duality between playful flirt and earnest lover like it’s second nature. Meanwhile, Xie Zheng and Chang Yu are out here serving quiet romance with that blink-and-you-miss-it caretaking during the banquet, which made their chemistry feel even richer. And of course, the kiss, the moment we’ve all been camping for since the pre-release buzz, delivered in a more aesthetic, cinematic way rather than full-on firework explosion. Zhang Ling He and Tian Xi Wei brought the emotions, no doubt, with hints of hunger here and there, but the scene leaned more into artistic framing like clasped hands and silhouettes instead of going full spicy mode, which lowkey made those fan-shot previews feel like the hotter director’s cut. Not complaining though, it was still beautiful, just not the feast I mentally pre-ordered. And just when you think the episode is done, the drama sneaks in a cheeky epilogue with maids casually snacking while the main couple kisses and a poor bystander from the Pig Butcher Squad accidentally witnessing it mid-pee, which is the kind of chaotic humor I didn’t know I needed but fully enjoyed.
