Growing pains

The episode opens with the villagers escaping and returning home. They want their savior to go with them but he has other things to do. Yun Fei is damn cute in both forms. Xue yang shows up to challenge the bandit leader. The leader has learned to use the orb as an artifact and as the battle increases FuGui enhances the spear and the orb is taken from the bandit. Yun Fei is in fox form and swallows the orb. FuGui tries to persuade him to spit it out, but it is long swallowed by his ‘poor puppy’. General Li is impressed with Fu Gui’s skills and invites him to serve in her army. He politely declines saying how he and his dog stick together and aren’t leaving but is interrupted by the human YunFei who is all for joining.😂 His father has sent representatives from the clan to bring the prince home. He complies, but only if his new friend lantern Wang can join him. Fu Gui comments how the designs on the wall are of dragons. The king says after the decline of the dragons his clan achieved the honor to replace them. Everybody is scheming to get YunFei to literally cough up the orb. Fu Gui has paid attention and knows the prince’s life will be in question if they forcefully cut it out of him. He activates YunFei’s demonic power and the want him to teach the prince how to cultivate it. He pretends lack of interest which appeases the sky king who isn’t sure of FuGui’s intentions. So the young prince keeps seeking him out. He wants to impress the lady general. He has the mistaken notion that his chosen teacher can give advice on impressing women.🤣😂 Yun Fei shows up with a gift for the general but she declines. As the fox he tries to act out where they first met but he fails dreadfully and she ices him and throws him towards home.😂 12581 has stepped up to give QingTong cultivation guides. The Fox clone questions this choice, but he is convinced he has things handled. He shows her a memorial for FuGui and even throws in the truth about RuMu and the sword meridians. He persuades her to get stronger first which is inadvertently a good thing for her. She does need to hold her own better to truly avenge FuGui. Disciple Feng talked HongYe into visiting RuMu. He is living as isolated as FuGui used to but is drowning in alcohol when not fighting. Opportunity presents itself to send RuMu to the border. RuMu agrees but wants his father to come along. This will bring him and his father full circle in the desert. I think he is trying to find a way to atone for his father’s deeds so WeiYun can consider him. Waiting to see what the cousins come up with. 12581 tries to pacify QingTong with gifts. What he doesn’t know is lantern Wang made the lantern. QingTong recognizes his handiwork and knows where he is. Big mistake fake spider soldier.😝🙄 He is annoying me less since she knows the truth. Very nice slap administered for his lies but she apologized. He still greatly exaggerates his place in her heart. RuMu and dad are heading back to the desert. Curious if the cousins will work together or separately in dealing with the orb. The irony in this episode is XueYang is looking for the one who saved her in the desert not realizing she has met him. The cute one that isn’t too bright.🤣The players are getting lined up to meet in the desert. I am looking forward to see how they grow together and what fate has in store for them. I am hoping the tragedy of the parents will reap happiness with their children.

What is wrong with these writers?

Good god I'm so sick of watching Situ. Is this series all about Situ Ling and his disgusting obsessive stalking? Is he the hero? Why is this show spending ridiculous amounts of screen time staring at his sad, woe-is-me face all the time? Why is it constantly playing flashbacks of all the misfortunes this psychopath suffered? As if those misfortunes justify his psychopathic nature? And why do the writers keep having the FL be so clueless about obvious, simple things? All the facts clearly tell her that she MUST be the last Bo clan descendent. But she acts as if it is a great mystery. All the facts make it clear that Situ Ling is an obsessed, dangerous stalker -- he literally ran up to her, cast some sort of paralyzing spell on her and forced her to drink some potion without her consent. But she lets it slide? How on earth she would agree that she is 'indebted' to him for that is ridiculous. And why can't she see the obvious disconnect between Situ's potion and the fact that her spirit veins have been repaired and realize that something else must have happened? What the F is wrong with the writers of this show? Is FL the strong, independent and intelligent champion warrior Ming Xian? Or is she a clueless, stupid and easily manipulated idiot? They are literally writing her into a willing stalker victim. It makes me want to vomit. The cast, costumes, sets and overall production of this show are fantastic. But the writing and plot direction at times are just painful and cringy to watch.

Khai listening Boy with love from BTS. It's make me so happy. I'm an ARMY and somehow became a BL fan while watching cute Asian boys. It's still better than shipping BTS members together.

Three Stars

i liked the first ep. The characters are run of the mill but that's fine. I'm just watching b/c I really enjoyed Yoo Na in Bon Appetit Your Majesty so I'm hoping this show is at least as fun as that was. I'm not really a fan of the Chaebol heir dynamics though.

This episode gets a 10 simply because it finally kills off the stupid lie that has been dragging the series down for many episodes. The FL's unwillingness to confess her identity has been an absurd and stupid plot device that should have expired long before this. But at least now it is finally done with.

This was a much better episode than the last…

This was a much better episode than the last one. Some real nice action scenes early as JBZ comes to the rescue. A dramatic 'boss move' sacrifice by a significant character happens, that will have a lot of repercussions. And there is _finally_ some movement on the stupid She-won't-reveal-who-she-is plot device that has and continues to drag on in this series. JBZ finally has noticed all the clues in front of him and seems to have figured it out - though he doesn't show his cards still. And so they are going to still keep dragging this plot contrivance along way past its expiration date, for at least one more episode, sadly. Otherwise, there is some fun moments in the interactions of the two leads.Way too much screen time is being wasted on Situ Ling's sad sob-story as the writers seem determined to make a sympathetic character out an obvious stalker psychopath. Such a tired and over-used plot trope in c-dramas.

Great finale! Love that the final battle was both tangible and intangible. The scale was dramatic and also romantic. Beautiful visuals, especially in Dongfang Qingcang's Heart Sea. Kudos to the two leads, Esther and Dylan, for really great performances throughout this series. The two of them really carried this story with each taking the lead at different moments and always having great chemistry.I'm glad they stopped spending so much screen time trying to make Ronghao a sympathetic character in the finale. They had wasted so much time on him in recent episodes and it just didn't work. He was despicable all the way through and I felt not single tear of sympathy for the creep so all the flute playing and sad memorial flashbacks just felt contrived and manipulative without succeeding. And boy did that slow down those episodes. Thankfully, they left that behind for the finale.I was a little disappointed that the SML, Changheng, started to backtrack on his character growth in the middle of the battle, but he seemed to have recouped in the denouement. They left it hanging whether he will truly grow past where he's been stuck but it was at least looking promising. Most of the other side characters seemed to move toward positive directions that made sense.

A slow-moving episode that finished strong. This episode spent way too much time on Ronghao's story and moved at a glacial pace for much of it. But the last 3rd of the episode made up for it with some actual useful plot reveals and of course, very moving performances by the two leads.
