This seems more like a music video than a short film

Short films are usually say 45 minutes. This one was 16 minutes.
The costumes were cool, the music was good, lighting and scenery was good and the story idea was cool. But there was zero speaking. Not a single word. No full flow from scene to scene rather a collection of well done clips.
It felt like teaser for a movie coming out so just.....don't expect too much.
What little there was....was excellent.
It made me realise how talented Kris Wu is.
It is too bad he is a monster or I would have liked to see an actual film made of this.
Now I realise why there was no review lol. There is so little to talk about it is hard to write 500 characters about it.
So, just my opinion but don't feel like you missed anything if you cannot find it anywhere to watch.
My rewatch value is zero but it won't allow me to put less than a one.

Teenage love is hard

Didn't watch the manga and I think I would like it. But I liked this movie.
The pace is good and needed.
The story is about a high school student, Sawako, that as almost zero self-esteem and don't know how to handle it. She met Kazehaya in a crossing and he fells in love for her. He's very popular and he will love her and care for her in secret.
Then, two friends of Kazehaya, Chizuru and Ayane, 2 strong and misfits girls started a friendship relation with Sawako.

The movie tells us the evolution of the four friends, the growing of Sawako's personality and self love, and the realization of true love

It is sweet and warm.
For me, even if it deals with teenage love and high school students, I find almost unreal some behaviour, specially Sawako. But I find sometimes difficult to understand how love relations are portrait in Japanese movies.

I find Japanese women beautiful and strong, but often portrait as submissive and that is very strange for me... Even in a male driven society...

Don't know what to measure in here.

Now that you've read the synopsis, there's nothing left for you to watch, except the intimate moments and the hot actors, haha. The 24 minutes story involves a college student and a man who meet in a basketball court and becomes affected to each other and end up in a relationship.

Their life comes to a point where they're entirely each others but end up finding each other's biggest secret which is a big surprise to both of them and they can't help but continue on their paths. The end! Yes, that's how it ended without any explanation and now I seek the makers to come ahead and make us understand about the essence, please?

Even for a short run time, this thing felt very average for a Taiwanese BL because we have examples of good Taiwanese BL movies like "Dear Ex" , "Your Name Engraved Here-in" who are of very high quality.

Alike any Taiwanese feature movie, they put emphasis on cinematography and sound editing and shady representation of their lifestyles. These are few of the good points about it, along with the acting elements and intimate scenes which is plenty; too much for a 24min movie, like they were smooching each other every other moment. I mean I like sex scenes too (ugly laugh) but this short movie lacked screentime man.

The most meaningful thing was the symbolic representation of uniting a gold fish and a fighter fish.

Tbh, when the protest thingy poped up halfway after the story, I was kinda intrigued because this is an unique perspective in a bl or any love story I have seen but that again was wasted with the half-baked screenplay ending with lots of confusing questions. Xiang as an environmentalist was on one side and...... Won't spoil but I am disappointed to say that they could have done better with the context by making it an hour project.

Well, it's still watchable because of the acting elements and the exploding intimate scenes. So go for it because even if you don't like it, a 24mins piece won't hurt you.

Baby (Bai Bei Er’) is a world class film … a gem

My personal favorite film featuring Sina-Asian Global Superstar Yang Mi. An encapsulating narrative and masterfully evocative film, in a quest for a quest for Social Justice and key administrative reformations under the “One Child Policy” and Foster Care on a marginalized sector of children born with deformities and disabilities. The film wonderfully assert in narrative, a very moving story involving realistic characters dealing with which may be an actual on case- specific flawed bureaucratic policies of a country, which may just be enveloped in a long entrenched and autocratic welfare and benefits system for this marginalized sector. The film and portrayals blissfully present the humanity in foster care adoption and the advocacy of civic consciousness on this marginalized sector. Naturally and innately gifted Thespian Yang Mi known for playing larger than life characters on screen and in tele-drama series took a major great leap in taking on the role of a Jiang Meng, an on the surface Plain Jane yet with an inner plateau of immense personal resiliency and emotional strength Jiang Meng, aptly deserves a much hearty applause for this remarkable portrayal in kudos and laurels. As this modern day independent film is a cinematic gem truly deserving of much positive critical acclaim as well as a much deserved socio-civic political validation in accolade, with credit and distinction also an applause, as well from the “bees” (fans, supporters and avid followers of Yang Mi and in general the viewers.

Corneal transplant, check.
Overdose sleeping pills, check.
Practicing how to see a ghost from a book, proceed.

Now I'm confused, I thought something like bending over to look back between your legs or brushing hair at midnight in front of a mirror was urban legend or how to see ghost that originaly from my country, so it's not but it's turns out it seems to be comprehensive in southeast asia.

For the film overall still fun but not creepy, instead only the comedy sticks in my mind. That dance battle in the apartment will be remembered.

When I think about it again, the film is indeed more pursuing to be funny, the horror aspect is not the main thing. They even parodied the iconic elevator scene, and it was hilarious. But unfortunately a parody is not something I expect from the conclusion of a horror film trilogy.

In the first film, the Pang Brothers made the main character to see ghosts after receiving a corneal transplant. In this sequel they're take a new horror story about ability of seeing ghost triggered by apparent death.

It's still scary, it's also quite impressive how this film binds the tension very strongly, which is indeed successful because the execution of the horror scenes often triggers adrenaline like the scene in the elevator (again) but in a different way from the first film, but extremely intense. It was from this scene that the topic of reincarnation began to emerge, where many ghosts were close to pregnant women in order to be reincarnated.

But unfortunately, like in the first film, I like the first and second act but the third act is very ridiculous, it feels tense but it looks stupid in my opinion. Whether it's because Joey failed to think, cause i think no matter how bad the ghosts are, if they go back to being babies, they won't remember anything about their past lives, and it's up to them as parents to direct them in the right direction.

Overall, still I love it, also great ending.

Dubbed as a Scariest Asian Horror Movies, at least that what I've seen in a lot of forum list, magazine who put this film as their #1 when I was a younger. Having the image of being the best or the scariest made me have high expectations for this film, which I just had the opportunity to watch last night.

This film lived up to my expectations, it's wellcrafted, got some pretty dang good jumpscare that i haven't seen in ages that makes me goes shriek in the middle of the night, I love how this film keeps on giving me goosebumps and also maintains its tension throughout the film.

This film really takes advantage of what the main character has and executes it properly to spread terror, to be honest there are many films that feature ghosts that haunt but not to the point of making goosebumps or scary as in this film, where the character Mun is said to have been blind since she was a baby and only got to see when she was an adult after she got a corneal donor, but from someone who can see ghosts (how unlucky she is), Throughout the film we see her suffering with her eyes at being able to see ghosts where it affects her psychologically, where the ending feels acceptable.

Despite how good this film was to me overall,I really only like the first and second act, where there are many memorable moments of horror from the grim reaper to the moment in the elevator and there is still a sense of Hong Kong. The third act turned out to be like a thai horror film, the vibe, and even the cinematography changed. The changes weren't really harmful, it was just that the transition was a bit of a drag for me.

Overall, one the scariest asian horror film.

The first act is literaly my fantasy, meet a pretty nurse, get closer with her, then become a lover; after that, when the main characters enters the Long Distance Relationship (LDR) , I gotta say it was like a nightmare, I don't wanna experience that.

Everything start sweet but LDR usually turns a relationship sour, especially if the two person got a job, hard to communicate, rarely seeing each other, so it's not strange if there's a change in feelings.

This film is pretty good on describing this kind of relationship, we get to see Jang Hyeok and Daeun from a sweet couple to the verge of collapse because of LDR.

It's really hard to see our couple shattered here, but what happened in the end, that happens for good.

The message this film trying to deliver from my understanding is love between 2 people requires trust, mutual understanding and appreciation, especially if you in LDR.

There a twist in the end, I didn't see it coming but I gotta say it make sense, Daeun was hurt and she deserve a good ending, she gets a man who can appreciate her more. It's not spoiler I guess. Just watch it, you'll get it.

Creepy as heck.

The last 25 minute or after Shane & Som found the truth about Chaba was the best moment in this film, spooky, tense, especially seeing them desperate was aahh you know that feeling like when you're inside a nightmare and you can't do anything, that's what i felt when I watch it.

I watched it at night and after finished this, I was a little afraid to sleep because the ghost was so terrifying and the mood of the film inside this film "Revengeful Spirit" so much like a nightmare. Thank god, I got nice dream and woke up happily.

A unique movie

This movie was pretty good.

The story seems to be well thought out. The way small flashbacks that are played out in the earlier parts of the movie are later elaborated and relevant was great. However, I still felt like I was missing important key facts by the end, to which I read a summary of the movie and it all started to click in. It helped me interpret some visuals that I was actually unsure of the meaning of. In the wiki I used, I learned that the subtitles didn't convey the full meaning of what was being said, so I am more understanding of this.

The visuals/CGI is a unique situation in this movie. This was filmed all on a green screen, and I was afraid that the early 2000s CGI was not going to hold well. To my surprise, even though it is nowhere near the CGI of today, it honestly was not too bad. I have seen way worse CGI in modern Toei toku shows. I did not like, however, how the scenes would jump from one filter to another without much reason. At first, the flashbacks were the only ones in greyscale, but then, the present was also in greyscale, but only with our hero. I think the idea that they wanted to show with the filters was the mood of the situation, but honestly, I don't think it worked too well.

The acting was honestly pretty good. Can't say much about it.

Honestly, if you like action movies and experimental films, this is a decent watch and you will like it. It was worth the watch just to see the vision of the director in his CGI experiment, but the story was pretty good as well.

What did I just watch?

Overall: Even reading the summary doesn't help me to understand what it was that I just watched. And I have zero desire to re-watch it and see if I can figure out what was going on. It appears that this was related to the first Find You In The Crowd, but don't ask me exactly how. Watched on Gagaoolala.

Content Warnings (I'm not sure what was reality and what wasn't with these): murder, attempted suicide (graphic), manipulation/lying?, suicide?

What I Liked
- there was some nice music
- acting was fine

Room For Improvement
- the plot was incomprehensible, multiple flashbacks/forwards/dreams/maybe dreams?/cutting quickly to other scenes/choppy editing

This review may contain spoilers

It's definitely fanatical love (minor spoilers)

Overall: The title gives you a clue that this isn't going to be some fluffy love story, but luckily it isn't unnecessarily tragic like so much other stuff from China. Watched on Gagaoolala.

Content Warnings: attempted murder, kidnapping, manipulation, non con that turns consensual, violence

What I Liked
- the flashbacks to high school were very clear thanks to the different hairstyles/clothing
- there were a couple of funny moments
- I enjoyed the sci fi aspect even if I was super confused about how it worked

Room For Improvement
- the plot, especially in the beginning, is very confusing thanks to multiple flashbacks/forwards/dreams/maybe dreams?/cutting quickly to other characters/choppy editing.
- the audience is supposed to be happy with the ending but I'm kind of not based on what we've seen

Boring and uninspired

I know this movie received critical acclaim and a lot of people loved the plot twists but wow, it did not click with me at all. I liked how the plot was set up at the start but as the movie went on, it just felt like it was dragging a lot. There were a lot of scenes I didn't care much for, and all of the characters (especially the main guy) just felt very bland and uninteresting to me.

Part of my apathy, though, I know is just a lack of interest in this genre as a whole — I found it really difficult to suspend disbelief when the explanations were reliant on religious mythology, exorcism, and themes like that. If you are a fan of those kinds of movies, you might enjoy this more than I did.

Handsome Hajun and his gang of secret admirers...

It did what it was supposed to do and that is scare me haha. The plotline was interesting and the acting was also great. I enjoyed it, jumpscares and all. The plot twist I wouldn't have ever guessed but glad I didnt, made it more interesting to watch. Sex scene felt natural to me, no awkwardness as I watched, props to the actors for the full commitment. As usual with strongberry content, my only compliant is the length. Left me wanting more as always haha but truly never disappoint. Great job to everyone.

You Can't Go Against The Fate, Just Be Kind With It

I watched this thru HBO Red Channel in 2012. After watching the whole movie I concluded that this movie is a masterpiece.
This movie tackles about the then unrest years in mainland China wc the government needed compulsory soldiers to fight with the civil war. As the story went on, the patriarch who is the good baker went to Taiwan to avoid the longer time in military. In this time, since he hadntjis problem with the government he couldnt go back to the family in MC so he stayed in Taiwan for many years, got married to another wife and got a daughter named JiaYi.

There were so many good scenes in the movie and I couldn't recall anymore but most of all I love the ending scene wherein the father came back to his hometown in China where he saw his wife, his son wc is little Jiawan and and the whole family (mother, father, sisters, as in all his family waiting for him in their front yard) If you watch closely as if everyone is real but it his spirit that just returned to. He died without being able to return to their house and without the chance to be able to see his family.

This is a nth degree tear jerker movie. The father didn't want to abandon his wife but forced to join the military. He couldnt back home to mainland China since there was political rift between China and Taiwan and his visa problem. The son and the daughter understood the situation better after so many times of disagreements and fighting.

I love this movie coz it reminds me of my mother's family's situation and experience. This is about family and how should we value our family.
