A richly crafted, politically grounded drama that shines brightest in its relationships
Love Story in the 1970s is one of those rare dramas that truly commits to its historical moment. Set before, through, and after the fall of the Gang of Four, it offers a textured look at how ordinary lives were shaped—sometimes uplifted, often constrained—by the political tides of the era. The show doesn’t shy away from taboos: blacklist families, the culture of informing on one another, the black market, the biases of the university system, seniority trumping talent, and the sheer poverty of the time. All of it is handled with a grounded, unflinching eye.The production is exceptional. The sets, costuming, and atmosphere feel lived‑in and authentic, and the acting is superb across the board. Arthur Chen is a standout—his character’s quiet heroism is especially striking given that he spends his days drawing comics critiquing exactly that kind of idealized figure. Sun Qian’s Fei Ni is equally compelling, layered and resilient without ever feeling performative.
The three main couples are the emotional core of the show. Each relationship is distinct, tender, and believable, and you genuinely care about what happens to them. Their arcs carry a strong message about supporting one another, facing adversity head‑on, and finding solutions together. The minor couples, by contrast, feel more like narrative cautionary tales—and honestly, their endings fit.
I’ll admit my enthusiasm dipped in the last six episodes. The emotional turbulence becomes repetitive, and I found myself exhausted by the constant ups and downs. When Mu Yang’s parents finally returned, it felt too late in the story to land with the weight it should have—though that may simply be my preference. The final episodes, set against the sweeping post–Gang of Four reforms and the shift toward meritocracy, although good, I found myself fast‑forwarding through parts.
Even so, Love Story in the 1970s remains a beautifully made, deeply human drama. Its political backdrop is not just scenery—it’s the engine of the characters’ lives. And at its heart, it’s a story about love, resilience, and the quiet courage it takes to build a future in uncertain times.
It’s worth a look and then some 😊

holy potential
First of all the story had potential. it could have actually been interesting and at the beginning i was quite invested. but the execution... i kept expecting the fights against the bad guys to actually lead somewhere but then everyone just went home and called it a day? their romance started off well and i actually liked it at first but there wasnt much progression after the third or so episode. and then he just dies at the end but kind of comes back. i also felt bad for the water bender bc why is his fate to kind of suffer all the time.all over id say its entertaining bc it kind of has a hint of plot progression sprinkled with bad editing and an illusion of a love triangle.

I love it
Just finished “Boyfriend on Demand” and I honestly loved every minute of it. 💙Watching in this drama reminded me again why he’s one of my favorite actors. He has this effortless charm that makes every romantic scene feel real and emotional. The way he expresses love—sometimes playful, sometimes deeply sincere—just pulls you into the story.
The romance in this drama is truly the highlight. Every moment between the leads felt natural, warm, and exciting. Their chemistry is undeniable, and the story allows their relationship to grow in a way that feels both sweet and meaningful. I found myself smiling at the small moments and rooting for them in every scene.
What I loved most is how the drama balances romance with emotional depth. It’s not just about falling in love; it’s about connection, vulnerability, and learning to trust someone with your heart. And honestly, watching Seo In-guk deliver those emotional moments made it even more special.
If you enjoy heartfelt romance, great chemistry, and a male lead who completely owns the role of the perfect boyfriend, “Boyfriend on Demand” is definitely worth watching. It’s sweet, engaging, and full of moments that will make you fall in love with the characters. 💫

The acting was top-notch and the storyline kept me interested from beginning to end. I especially loved how the drama explored love, communication, and misunderstandings in such a heartfelt way.
Overall, it’s a beautiful drama with a strong cast and a touching story. Definitely worth watching if you enjoy romance with depth and great performances.

this must have been ragebait
I was truly unable to get through the first 3 episodes. The character of Tuo gave me so much of the ick from the beginning and I could not get over that. Every scene he was in felt like I was being ragebaited truly. what happened to hello, how are you, do you consent??? Bare consent being absent in the year of yaoi 2025?Also it’s described as childhood friends to fake dating to lovers. But they only fake date for genuinely a third of an episode and by episode 3 they’re together, no yearning no emotional turmoil, essentially everything is already done by episode 3 and I must still sit through boredom for 7 more episodes?
it didn’t make sense nor did it entice me to continue further.
the acting was decent I suppose but there’s only so much acting when the script is so atrocious and there’s these random scenes thrown in there with no coherent connection or flow within the plot.

Most Underrated Series That Hooks You from the Start!
Such a surprisingly good series that will completely win you over if you give it a chance. From the very first episode, Heart Code pulled me in with its gripping plot, tension, and mystery. And wow—the final episode delivered such a satisfying payoff.I must say, it’s series of the year, and it’s only March! What really made the series stand out, apart from the plot, are the two leads. Their chemistry is electric, and their performances feel completely natural and powerful. Every scene they share is full of emotion, making the story even more engaging and unforgettable.
Honestly, this is one of the best GL series I’ve watched, with one of the most satisfying endings. It had closure, romance, and just the right amount of emotion.
This series is seriously so underrated and deserves way more attention. I highly recommend it and will definitely rewatch it—it’s just that good.

Loved, Loved, Loved it ??!!! One of the best BL series I've ever seen!
At first I wasn't going to give this BL a chance. In the beginning, started out as a very slow burn, but I decided to keep watching and give it a chance and boy am I glad I did! It's absolutely one of the best BL series I've ever seen! Love the plot, the storyline, the details in the story, the actors, the romance, the setting and don't get me wrong; some parts were a little or (they felt a little rush), but it was really good and I would recommend it to anyone to watch. I would definitely watch it again, and again and again and again. Was this review helpful to you?
In my opinion, TERRIBLE!
This had to be the worst BL series I've ever seen in my entire life and that is just my opinion though! I enjoy spicy BLS, but there has to be a plot to go along with it! This only had spice but no plot! This whole series was just a bunch of hyped up, sexually frustrated boys looking for their next hook-ups! Now I personally do not recommend this BL to anyone because of the lack of plot, but if someone out there likes spicy BL's with no plot, then this is it. I gave one star all the way down for this whole series because it just didn't do it for me. That does not mean it won't do for someone else. I watched the whole thing and..... I won't watch it again. This doesn't mean that someone else can't watch it. They may have a different opinion about the series then I did but I just thought it was awful and I can't possibly recommend this to anybody. Was this review helpful to you?
What a delightful Romance!
This was an absolutely delightful series to watch! It's a well written storyline, with a great cast.
I would probably call it a Romantic Comedy, because some scenes had me laughing out loud.
I would happily rewatch this just for its feel-good effect.
I did have some frustration with the Female lead as she navigated her feelings and developed her understanding of Love,
but it showed a realistic process and her character growth was wonderful to watch.
The Male lead was a wonderful character and beautifully acted.
The lead couple was well developed with meaningful interactions, and side characters really were enjoyable and added to the ensemble very well.
The concept of virtual dating vs real dating was well thought out and well done.
This is an excellent series! I heartily give it a 10 out of 10!

Excellent BL series!!
Despite what anyone says, this was one of the best BL series I've ever seen! Romance, action, dysfunctionality, toxicity, definitely a worthless father, worthless brother, worthless sister, excellent plot and just an all-around excellent BL series! I really enjoyed this series, yet so many people gave it such bad reviews and I thought it was excellent. I would recommend this BL to anyone who was looking for something a little different as the acting is great and Dao and OffRoad's chemistry; is on point! Typically, I enjoy a spicier BL, but once I started watching this one, I couldn't stop watching it; I actually ended up binge watching it. I'm writing this review based on how I feel about the series and I know other people write the reviews on how they feel about the series, but I recommend watching the series for yourselves and then decide for yourself if it's something that you're interested in. Don't let someone's bad review keep you from watching a series that you may actually like because of their opinion. My opinion is this BL deserves a watch. I found it very enjoyable; it's just my opinion though. Was this review helpful to you?

A feel-good series.. short and sweet.
It went from us not knowing the house-owner's name to house owner actually not knowing bigboom's name.I am guessing they used their real names for this short series.
I think this is one of those series where they intend for it to be a reel series of a bunch of shorts and honestly, I like the concept. All the cliche's were cute! And the open end was perfect; it wouldn't make sense for them to get to know each other and get into a relationship so quick. I found the vibes very chill and relaxed; wish people would watch it for a quick, entertaining time-pass.
good job, cast and crew!!

First Impression: Sweet Blood
Overall: finally a vampire BL that's not a comedy. 8 episodes about 10 minutes each. Airing on Love Memory's YouTube channel https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLwW9ZsuS2Fna5mZ_YiEKYIY3NukytYJHF&si=kWJI2s3lm5doc8QTContent Warnings: blood, injury, violence
What I Liked
- premise
- visuals
- at least the world building dump was slightly better than is typical
- what happened at the end of episode 1
Room For Improvement
- that chomp sound in episode 1
- nervous on how they'll do the ending

A Beautiful Story That Truly Touches the Heart
Watching Navillera was honestly one of the biggest and most beautiful surprises I’ve had while watching Korean dramas. I started it with curiosity, but I never expected it to move me this much. It is absolutely deserved that this series scores so high with viewers.I really believe this is the kind of story that can melt almost anyone’s heart.
The story itself is already special. A 70-year-old man who decides to finally follow his dream of learning ballet, and a young dancer who helps him achieve it. It sounds simple, but the way it’s told is incredibly touching. It’s about dreams, aging, regrets, courage, and the idea that it’s never too late to start something meaningful. I think many people will recognize something of themselves in this story.
The acting is simply outstanding.
The role of the older man is played by Park In-hwan, and he is absolutely phenomenal. His performance is so subtle, so warm, and so incredibly human. You feel every emotion with him — the joy, the fear, the vulnerability. He never overacts. Everything feels natural and pure.
And the young ballet dancer is played by Song Kang. He also does an amazing job. His character carries a lot of quiet struggle, and he portrays it in such a sincere way. And yes, of course, it doesn’t hurt that he is incredibly handsome. But beyond that, it’s also beautiful to watch him dance. The ballet scenes are graceful and impressive, and they add something truly special to the series.
Together, these two actors create something very rare on screen. Their relationship feels genuine and deeply emotional. It’s not dramatic in a loud way — it’s gentle, honest, and incredibly moving.
Another thing that really stands out is the directing and the cinematography. The way the scenes are filmed is just gorgeous. There are many close-up shots that capture small emotions — a look, a smile, a moment of doubt. Those close-ups make everything feel intimate and real. But there are also beautiful wider shots during the dance scenes that make the ballet feel almost magical.
And the music… the music is absolutely stunning. It fits the atmosphere perfectly and lifts the emotional moments even higher. Sometimes the music alone is enough to give you goosebumps.
What makes this series so special to me:
- A deeply touching and inspiring story
Extraordinary acting from Park In-hwan and Song Kang
- A beautiful and believable relationship between the two characters
- Stunning cinematography and carefully composed scenes
- A soundtrack that perfectly supports the emotion of the story
- A message about dreams, aging, and courage that stays with you
This is not a loud or sensational series. It’s quiet, warm, and incredibly sincere. But that’s exactly what makes it so powerful.
For me, Navillera is one of those rare dramas that reminds you how beautiful storytelling can be. It’s inspiring, emotional, comforting, and unforgettable. A true gem that I would recommend to almost anyone.

cute, heartwarming, homey
Honestly, this was such a great show.I love and appreciate how all the characters in the series (mainly the housemates) got to each grow independently and yet still with the support of each other. They all have different issues and it was great to see them tackle it…
I love that the romance here isn’t clouded by jealousy or messy headache inducing love triangles. It’s actually quite mature. It’s human nature to have miscommunications from time to time, but I appreciate how they are also able to resolve it without drama.
My only caveat as to why I can’t give this full stars is because the story actually started moving better and more interestingly around episode 8. 8 out of 10 episodes before the main leads actually became main leads with interesting stories…
The chemistry of the main leads are top notched. But like all relationships in this series, it felt both too slow and too fast how their story progressed. Too slow in a way that their moments together while cute still lacked some depth to have conflicts resolved too fast. I hope that made sense. But yeah, basically I wish they main couple had more moments to solidify their relationship. It honestly felt like the Orca understood them both better than themselves…

Great and fun series!
I really enjoyed this series. It's genuinely really funny and has a time travel element so what is not to like? Keiko Kitagawa and Shosuke Tanihara have a great chemistry, a really funny double act and some of the minor characters are fantastic also, like the boss at the funeral parlour, which is always a sign of a good series. I will probably watch it again which I almost never do because it's so enjoyable. I don't understand criticism I've read of Keiko Kitagawa's acting in the earlier part of her career. I think she is absolutely fantastic in this seriesWas this review helpful to you?
