Terrible acting, hot leads

I don’t know how this was a 10/10 for some people. The acting was HORRIBLE for ALL of the side characters along with bad writing. The only redeeming quality was the leads had great chemistry and was the better of the actors of the whole show. If you’re wanting epic romance with stellar performances then save yourself here and go watch KinnPorsche.

Ten years of rain in the jianghu… and a story drowned before it could rise.

The story could have been legendary, the concept more than compelling… if only the execution had cared.

This drama had everything I usually love: epic stakes, layered wuxia politics, forbidden romances, and tension that almost feels tangible. The opening episodes are gripping: the younger generation caught in the unresolved conflicts of the past, secrets simmering just below the surface, and emotional stakes that immediately pull you in. You can feel the drama itching to be something great.

And then… it starts losing its footing. The script and adaptation are messy: plot threads appear and vanish, pacing jumps around, and the structure feels fragmented. Scenes are rushed or abruptly cut, leaving motivations unclear, emotional transitions clunky, and moments that could have been heart-stopping completely underdeveloped. I read a joke somewhere that “scenes start late and end early” and in this case, that’s not far from the truth.

The direction and editing are arguably the biggest problem. Moments that should feel powerful or heartbreaking often fizzle out because the show rarely lets them breathe. Characters who should feel layered come off flatter than they should, subplots feel more like interruptions than explorations, and even the fight scenes, which could have elevated the drama, end up underwhelming.
The individual performances are quite decent but the leads emotional connection and relationship dynamic doesn’t translate on screen. It feels less like a relationship unfolding and more like two performances happening side by side, never quite touching.

Despite the frustration, there are moments to enjoy. The atmosphere is gorgeous, with flowing robes, misty landscapes, and emotional tug-of-war. The story’s central premise, of past secrets shaping the present, might keep you invested, even as the messy execution trips it up.

In short, Generation to Generation is a drama of unrealized potential. The last few episodes improve and the pacing steadies, but for most of the series I found myself lamenting what could have been. In the end, I can only give it a 6.5/10 — a story that hints at depth and intensity yet repeatedly trips over its own delivery.

Good bromance, messy writing : a lot of muscles, not so much brain power

This action drama is very Netflix thriller coded : it has a gritty and dark making, some good production value, and the episode all ends in some kind of cliffhanger, in order to entice the viewer to press play on the next episode.

However, I must admit that past a quite gripping while also pretty classic introduction, featuring gangsters, slush fund and good guys with heart wanting to save scammed poor people, I was not blown away by the story. Indeed, the scenario fell apart with a messy writing, characters having a lot muscles but not a lot of brain. The poor writing might also be explained by the way the female lead was awkwardly edited out of the series, which was a downer for sure.

The cast did a great job, with the bromance between the characters of Woo Do Hwan and Lee Sang Yi being the best part of the series. Huh Joon Ho, Park Sung Woong, Kim Sae Ron and overall the whole ensemble cast did a good job. All of them were pretty convincing in all the fight scenes.

I would recommend this to people looking for a quite classic action drama or that love Woo Do Hwan and Lee Sang Yi. Seeing them fighting shirtless and skillfully at multiple times did certainly improve my watching experience, which was tempered by the overall poor writing with characters making numerous bad decisions. I am still happy to have watched it and I might even give a try to season 2 because the characters and their dynamics have a lot of potential.

A beautifully made drama with heart, charm, and a few uneven choices

Our Universe was, on the whole, a delight. The production values are genuinely impressive—clean visuals, thoughtful framing, and a gentle aesthetic that suits the story’s emotional tone. The show also shines in its world‑building: the food production company feels lived‑in and believable, and the photography elements are handled with a quiet, artistic confidence.

The relationships are where the drama really finds its warmth. The OTP is lovely—steady, emotionally grounded once established, and easy to root for. The mature photography couple adds a welcome layer of constancy, even if their presence fades more than I would’ve liked. And the caring apartment neighbours? A small but meaningful touch that gives the show a sense of community and softness.

The ML’s backstory is one of the drama’s strengths, offering depth and emotional texture, though its resolution does land a little too conveniently. The show also stumbles around Episode 5, drifting into overly sugary territory before recovering its balance. The final episode, however, pushes Woo Joo’s guardianship storyline so far over the top that I found myself fast‑forwarding through most of it.

Even with those bumps, Our Universe remains a warm, well‑crafted watch. When it leans into connection, craft, and the small constellations people form around each other, it truly shines.

NOT PERFECT BUT OK

A drama presented as family-friendly and romantic, which had been on my watchlist for a long time. Between the cast, a plot that seems likely inspired by Life as We Know It, and the drama's carefully chosen color palette, everything pointed to a sure thing.

I was quickly drawn in, touched by the connection between the two leads and the baby. Even though I know that such a young cast can be a double-edged sword for ratings—which the results in South Korea seem to confirm—I still kept watching, as their chemistry was so magnetic and heartwarming.

However, some flaws eventually emerged. The second lead became particularly omnipresent. While I was delighted to see Park Seo Ham in a drama again, his character sometimes took up too much space, encroaching on the development of the main romance.

Then another flaw became apparent: the educational aspect, though central, seemed present without truly being so. The child often took a backseat, entrusted to various strangers, while work and the love triangle increasingly dominated the young woman's life. It was at this point that many viewers lost interest.

Personally, I persevered, convinced that the drama would eventually redeem itself. And indeed, it did… late, very late indeed—but the wait was worth it. Once the romantic entanglements were finally resolved, and after a few family dramas involving the lead's father, the story finally tackled a crucial issue: child custody and the legitimacy of raising the child.

These last two episodes managed to touch my heart and right the ship, delivering the emotion we'd been waiting for from the start.

So yes, it's not perfect. Yes, some viewers didn't connect with the cast or the sometimes disjointed storytelling. But it's far from a disaster, especially with such a touching ending. A must-see drama… even if it might not be one you'll rewatch. ✨

Ugh

What has happened to Chinese drama? Are we only getting the dregs in the US?

Third rate acting. The feeling of everyone trying too hard. Nothing feels natural.

Lack of chemistry between the leads. Could have just picked up strangers on the street and dressed them up.

Script and dialogue scream "High school drama." Are professional writers really hard to find?

Not even going to try to watch any more of this. Except for the sets, everything about this is first year college level.

So much better than season 3 and 4 !!!

Even if Paradise feels still a bit underwhelming and Inferno could be made much tougher, I truly think the production team did an incredible job at casting this season participants as well as putting together the various storylines. There were a good variety among the cast, not just models and CEOs of their own company (with only 1 employee -aka themselves), some people providing really good TV, without those feeling over-produced. There were some production hijincks but honestly it was done quite skillfully to amp the angst and create a little bit of thrills...The challenges were overall quite exciting and fun, even if sometimes quite (maybe even a bit too much) aggressive. Once again the panelists elevated the watching experience with their relatable reactions.

I would recommend this to people looking for an exciting dating show. The production did a great job at correcting the flaws from previous seasons, and provided some memorable TV moments. I screamed and laughed at the screen, I swooned, I theorized and had many discussions on it. Even if the finale was very predictable to me, I had such fun time and I will for sure be looking forward the next season.

Underwhelming romance despite an interesting angle

This drama is about the romance between a top actress and an interpretor as they travel together in the context of filming a travelling and dating variety show. Or is it really ? Soon enough the series take a turn which I found interesting on an intelectual point of view but which failed to really captivate me. I had real trouble to remain invested in the romance as well as the other aspects of the series, and I am quite frustrated at how the ending handled off screen one of the most important storyline point. The pacing felt sluggish to me and the plot overall repetitive.

The acting was quite good and if I really like both main leads : Kim Seon Ho and Go Youn Jung, I found their chemistry quite underwhelming...I was never as invested in the romance between their characters as I would have wanted, partially because the characters were written quite unlikable to me, partially because of the lack of chemistry. The secondary romance was much better on both aspects. I also really enjoyed the character played by Fukushi Sota, a great discovery.

I would recommend this to people that are looking for a psychological kind of romance. It is not really a rom-com, not really a psychological thriller or a slice-of-life. It is a bit of a mix and doing so, it missed the mark for me but I still think there are quite a bit to love. I personally really enjoyed the travel vlog aspect , the various countries and languages, the dating show set up, as well as the introduction and the production value. Too bad that romance was a miss for me and that the resolution felt rushed despite the overall sluggish pace of the drama.

Sometimes stories don’t get a happy ending.
The ending of this series was emotional, and it was honestly close to bringing me to tears. It’s one of those endings that stays with you for a while and makes you think about everything the characters went through.

Basically Cai pingshu's legacy

The story is about a legendary female general who killed a villain of her time and traded peace with her life. The time setting is three years after she died but from start to the end everything is about HER. Everyone speaks of her, her life, martial arts leacy. At one point I thought it would be better to just make a drama on Cai pingshu cause it really feels likeall the characters were created just to commemorate pingshu
Now why did I rate this a 8? because the role of female general Cai pingshu was played damned well by the actress. dare I say for the first time I felt like this is how a female general should be. Second reason is Mu qingyuan, he just knows how to act. and his visuals are a bonus point. From pathetic, to manipulative. He switches from a loser boy to a cunning master of demon sect so effortlessly that I couldn't bear to stop wathing. He was the main force driving the whole narrative. Another character Song yuzhi , he also grew on me later on

the story had a strong fl which i appreciated but the scriptwriter really butchered the whole narrative. There is no coherence in what is happening, no consistence character growth. Besides the ml , fl's acting couldn't really match. and for the final reveal it was predictable who the man in black really was. From the start to the end there was a lot of character and I could see the potential of the story but alas a good story needs a good scriptwriter and director.

In my opinion, you can give it a try if your fav actor is in it. I watched it because of zhou yi ran. I don't regret it. He freaking delivered but the director failed the potential this drama had

A perfect Criminal Investigation x Romance drama

It was such a surprise! My first time seeing an historical of the genre and loved it! I really appreciated how it was executed, how it mainly remained a thriller and the leads stayed focused on their goals til the end. I didn't find any episode boring at all, I enjoyed how we embark on the criminal cases with the leads and get to wonder who did what, why and how. I didn't find any flaw or weird point in all the cases. Really enjoyed the thriller parts. The romance was well introduced and very sweet, we don't have any weird break up because of some misunderstanding. Loved the boldness of the female lead and how the male lead respected her right away and got her back from the start. It makes their bond and their romance even more endearing. They didn't try to change the other but wholeheartedly embraced each other's quirkiness. There are so many characters we end up getting attached to. And the end was something, lol, but very satisfying to me. A happy end. ^-^

A very very slow burn, but once ignited, it is lovely

I once started this because of the fake relationship tag and watched about halfway before dropping it as I was so confused at the extremely slow plot. I decided to come back and give it another shot and was very pleasantly surprised at how lovely the story developed between the two main characters.
This is not a slow burn, this is a barely smoldering ember you could leave alone for days and not worry about any change or damage. I would honestly say any actual plot only started around episode 10, and up until then was just a lot of character development and laying of the foundations of their relationship. It was a bit of a slog to be honest, but they came together in such a natural way that all the slog in the beginning made sense. A true strangers to friends to lovers (or I guess, strangers to spouses to friends to lovers). It was beautiful, but I don't think I could rewatch it lol.

Thank You For Your Hard Work... Indeed

When life gives you lemons, make lemonade. This show was so romantic but it is not only about romance. It is a slice of life that shows love, marriage, and also what happens after marriage. How children have dreams close to their hearts, how adults are also living life for the first time, and how at the end of the day, we still miss our parents, whether they are near or far.

Save yourself the trouble and skip this one.

It really didn't live up to the hype/expectations.
It lacked any real substance.
"It was totally underwhelming."
"It was a snooze-fest." (Very boring)
For a boring plot: "It was terribly dull and had no depth."
For poor writing: "The dialogue was cringy and clichéd.
Honestly, there was nothing to write home about, and it was actually quite disappointing.
