I think this drama is truly wonderful. Whenever I started one episode, I couldn’t stop watching the next ones for hours. Everything related to the work of firefighters was presented in great detail — living far from family, the immense pressure, constantly risking their lives, and the possible physical and psychological consequences of every mission. At the same time, the work of doctors was portrayed in a very similar way. Not every case ends happily for the victims, and that was shown as well. The acting also deserves special praise — it was excellent. Both the main characters and the supporting actors did a fantastic job in their roles. You could truly feel the emotions they were portraying. The entire series was carried out very smoothly and realistically. This also applies to the relationship between the main couple — Xu Meng Qin and Song Yan. From almost the very beginning, we can see that both of them still have feelings for each other, which show through their smaller and bigger actions. Despite that, their relationship develops gradually, and personally, I didn’t mind it at all. Considering their past — especially on his side — being cautious made sense. Over time, we increasingly saw the depth of their love for each other. Around one another, they radiated happiness and became the best versions of themselves. Another big plus for me is that once they entered a relationship, they faced problems together. There were no forced dramas meant to separate them or unnecessary arguments, and yet they were together for a long time throughout the series. Overall, Song Yan is a wonderful man. His family was also wonderful, and I watched most of their scenes with a smile on my face.
I was also incredibly happy when Qin finally started setting boundaries with her “parents” and eventually cut off contact with them. However, I was slightly disappointed when her “mother” suddenly changed her attitude and they reconciled, because I was hoping Qin would cut ties with them — especially with her — forever. In my opinion, she caused far too much harm and pain to everyone around her to suddenly sit at the table smiling together. It really irritates me that she faced no consequences for her actions after everything, but maybe I just have a different mindset.
Staying on the topic of family, I personally found the storyline of Meng Yan Chen disturbing. He was in love with her and tried to drive a wedge between her and Yan. After all, he was her brother (adoptive, but still). They were raised together as siblings from childhood into adulthood. She always treated him like a brother, yet he still wouldn’t let it go. His storyline with Ye Zi is also quite strange — starting from the fact that she looks like his sister, the one he had feelings for, and ending with the fact that toward the end it is hinted that they might have a future story together — after she falsely accused him of attempting sexual assault.
Aside from that, there are also a few points that I think could have been interesting but were only briefly introduced and never developed:
→ The military character (Lu Jie). I expected them to meet again since they talked about it, but it never happened, so I’m not entirely sure why he appeared in the first place. Though I did laugh at the scene where he thought Xu was his wife and called her that.
→ The storyline of Song’s mother. Honestly, I thought that as an adult he would try to find her and we would see some kind of confrontation — especially after the scene where, as a teenager, he went to her house with Xu and she looked at him.
A more personal complaint — or rather sadness. I loved the duo of Song Yan and Suo Jun, and Suo Jun’s departure really hit me. I was hoping that despite the distance they would keep in regular contact and that we would get many phone calls between them. It’s a pity that didn’t happen, although I’m glad we at least got one call that softened my heart.
And one funny little detail that I noticed. When Song Yan’s cousin ended up at the police station, Qin drove him there by car. Later, her “brothers” arrived and she went back with them in their car. To this day I’m still wondering what happened to her car that she left at that police station XD.
Lastly, I’ll mention Da Peng’s fate. I won’t go into too much detail here, but I’ll just say that I loved him from the very beginning. Together with Doctor Nan, they were my second favorite ship in the drama, so my heart broke into a million pieces and it took me quite a while to recover.

The most insufferable love triangle.
K-drama rom/com writers should be banned from using love triangles in their stories for a few years. The love triangle in this show is so exhausting, insufferable, and time-consuming that it overshadows any positive aspects the show might have had.Our Universe had everything it needed from the very first episode to become a decent show. A young ML and FL who, unfortunately, become the guardians of their nephew. She is looking for work, he finds a job with a famous photographer, and somehow all three end up living together under one roof. That’s it! If the story had stopped right here and just focused on these characters, the kid, and their working circumstances, things would have turned out for the best.
Instead, a second male lead and a parent is shortly introduced to pivot the show off a cliff. With these two new awful characters, the show forgot why viewers tuned in the first place. The pushiest love triangle I’ve seen recently, to the point you wouldn’t be mistaken if you thought 2nd ML was the main lead of the entire show. Then this terrible parent conveniently shows up, bringing even more problems. What a rat. No one watching this show came for this badly written melodrama. Everyone online is asking if we can return to the family storyline with no hope in site for five excruciating episodes. Big oof.

absolutely incredible
- "non, je me suis porté volontaire "

Bored and Disappointed
I had no expectations going into this show. That being said, what the hell happened?First off, the little things. The speed effects & CGI were bad, and the OST was way too loud at times. Also, was that last scene filmed in front of a green screen?
The first couple of episodes were alright, but by episode 5, I found myself doomscrolling while the show played in the background, and I started watching it at x2 speed just to get through it.
I lost count of the number of times I wanted to DNF this series, but I didn't because of Neo. Then they kill him unnecessarily. They could have saved him if they wanted to. Why was Mark trying to heal him while he was still impaled? If it was too late for healing once you pulled him off, turn him. And you can try to argue that they needed permission because they can't die afterward—bullshit. 1. I'm sure Tonkla would have chosen to live & 2. I'm sure taking their head off or piercing the heart, even without having "golden blood," would kill them. I thought about dropping the show after he was killed by Nakan (whom I was hoping to see him have a romance with), but at that point, there were only 3 episodes left, so I pushed through it.
The plot was also way too predictable. I should not have known that Thara was after Golden Bloods for her own personal gain, episode 1. That twist doesn't even get revealed until episode 10. Was anyone really surprised by this? Nakan wanting to take her down because she killed someone he loved was also not a surprise at all. The biggest surprise was that they actually killed Tonkla because he was the only good character in the whole show, and killing him off was just a stupid decision. They should have just gone with a enemies to lovers throp and at least tried to save their sinking ship a little instead of letting it capsize.
The world-building was very surface-level and made everything feel fake. The lore of vampires is very properly explained, but we have no idea what normal vampire abilities are because they are all treated as expendable. Not even the important ones are that impressive tbh. The Mortal Instruments did a better job building up its vampire world in its first book, and they are barely a part of it. To me, this was just lazy writing. Every in the fantasy genre needs rules; this series took the pre-established rules we know and threw them out the window and replaced them with nothing. That didn't make the vampires feel powerful and impossible to kill; it just left me as a viewer feeling like no one wanted to put any effort into building the world or writing it into the script, so they just gave us nothing.
I've liked Gawin in the few things I've seen him in, but with this series, I didn't care for it. I believe that is largely down to the directions he was given and the script giving him very little to work with.
Besides Tonkla, because he was just a good self-sacrificing person, I didn't care about any of the characters, not even Dome, and I love AJ. I spent more time questioning Tong's IQ and common sense than I should have had to, and everyone else was just uninteresting. Mark was interesting as he slowly became more human, but not enough to draw any interest in me. I do wonder why Thara was so inhuman since she's drained multiple Golden Bloods. Wouldn't that have made her more human and feel some kind of guilt? Did something happen? Is it because of how old she is? How old is she really? Who was the first vampire, and how did it happen? These small things could have built the world up a little, but too little, too late.
NC scenes were probably the best part of the series, but it wasn't enough to save the series. No matter how many they try to shove in there in the end. It felt like there was one or two in every episode after they "did it" for the first time.
Lastly, the sleeping beauty moment in the last episode? Please never do that again. Or if you are going to, make it make sense and don't have ass it.

A School Project
Seen it but we cannot rate and update.Unfortunately it’s a very bad, amateurish production. The story is simple : the new school girl felt for a classmate that is came back as the same time and they discovered they have been pen pals for years.
So many issues in all departments.
The Cinematography was bad. The colours were very strange, grayish and uneven we could see in one scene the switch of camera as they hadn’t the same quality. It was unstable and warbling. The angles weren’t all justified and some choices felt cheesy. Random close-ups, uncentered captures…
The editing didn’t really make sense. Some sequences felt like a music video clip. And time felt also like very conceptual. Some sequences literally look like PowerPoint animations.
Sound wasn’t great. The sound team didn’t think of micing the poor girl when she stand up on the front so her mic was visible.
The young woman cannot act. She needs to learn to control her facial muscles, she had some involuntary contractions on
the upper lips that made so many
emotions not genuine (nasal and
procerus muscles). But normally those contractions come when we are displeased so it didn’t make sense. She had some pronunciation
issues, surely due to an un-warmed mouth and her voices when she was
supposed to be mad was out of control
too. I cannot believe she wasn’t ask to do it again or why they picked up that take as that scene was
very bad. We can’t hear when a vocalist cannot hit the note with acting it’s the same, out of pitch is audible.
Brandon seemed to have opted for downplaying the emotions…I am central-European so I have a bias we are more comfortable with downplaying than overplaying. But he still lacked a bit of
energy. He wasn’t fully in control of his
body, sometimes the way he stood felt awkward (body wasn’t oriented to the girl when he was speaking and looking at her in the classroom towards the end, his feet were pointing at to the door…usually it means don’t care what you are saying, cannot wait to be out of that situation)
The biggest problem was with the writer the storyline was bad and cliché. It felt forced as if it was needed to put so many over-used storylines. Poor woman forced to be a star to save her family. The school contest. Poor girl who cannot afford lunch…The way they become friends doesn’t feel organic. The way she discovered the letter totally unrealistic. Do you start looking in stuff when you are at someone’s else place? No. The undressing scene came out of nowhere. Do you suddenly undressed when you are 16-18 when there is a guest from the opposite sex in your home? No. But mostly the dialogues felt ridiculous, long, unrealistic and not sincere. They felt off. Teenagers don’t speak like that.
I was surprised that it’s fully in English and no Korean version available. That production felt American trying to imitate kdrama. Is it really an Asian production? Does this
project really belong to MDL?

chemistry
the female lead wasn't a good fit. the chemistry was way off. I enjoyed the plot, but it could have expanded on some areas and done away with others. over all it was ok. I do not believe that I could watch this show again. it just wasn't that believable for me. I did like the one episode where they got together. don't want to spoil it for the ones who haven't watched it. too many understandings in the show also. every time you turned around. there was one, oops... there's another.Just get on with the story dont drag it out.

The best best best drama ever ❤️
I have no words. It was the best drama ever. In my opinion. I had never seen a drama like this. I mean, the first 5 episodes might confuse you, but trust me it will be it's the best one like I never, ever rated a drama before, but this is my first time because it's that good. At the end, not only the main female lead but also the second female is and everybody have a happy ending. The thing that hooked me was the twist and turns . And the cai zhao aunt and mu qingyan's uncle, their chemistry. It was really beautiful drama. And the other point is I really liked the female leads and the male leads chemistry, even if it's in the drama or outside the drama, they're like, really friendly i hope they make more dramas like this.Thank you

quite good
it is what u would expect from a short drama. the fl was smart and the chemistry was also amazing. the acting was better than what i have expected and the costumes were mosy ok. It has a lot of stereotypes. i just really hated the last scene, they could have made a nice ending. what i also did not like is how short they made the episodes, it had like 10 minutes total screen time. and the mistery of how the ml family fell down they did not solve that, we never found out and other things were either not explained or left in the airWas this review helpful to you?
Revenge by Design
Zang Hai was once the son of the Imperial Astronomer, living a quiet life surrounded by knowledge of the stars. That life shattered when he witnessed the brutal massacre of his entire family as a child. Rather than seeking immediate vengeance, Zang Hai vanished from the world and spent the next ten years forging himself into a weapon. He studied construction, engineering, astronomy, and the art of war, preparing meticulously for the day he would return.A decade later, he reappears in the capital under a completely different identity. Through careful maneuvering and mentorship, he becomes the trusted adviser of his greatest enemy, Duke Ping Jin. What begins as a carefully planned revenge mission slowly grows into something far more complex. Moving from the Duke’s manor into the dangerous arena of the imperial court, Zang Hai rises from a quiet strategist to the chief minister of the imperial cabinet. Along the way he navigates treacherous political schemes, hidden enemies, and deadly traps. Just when he finally reaches the chance to destroy the man who ruined his life, Zang Hai realizes that the truth behind his family’s death runs deeper than he ever imagined. With allies by his side and a conspiracy far larger than revenge unfolding before him, Zang Hai must decide whether he is fighting for vengeance, for truth, or for the fate of the entire country.
From the very beginning, this drama makes it clear that it is not here to hold your hand. The opening episodes already give you that ominous feeling that something terrible is about to happen, and sure enough, tragedy hits Zang Hai’s family in the worst way possible. The motivation for revenge is not just strong, it is completely justified. The story wastes no time setting up the emotional stakes. Then the show immediately throws you into something unexpected. When Zang Hai’s father and his assistant encounter a mysterious discovery at the bottom of their excavation, I genuinely thought the drama was about to switch genres on me. For a moment it felt like we were entering mystery horror territory instead of a historical revenge story.
One thing that never failed to impress me is the attention to architectural and mechanical details. The buildings in this drama are stunning. They are not just pretty sets placed in the background. They feel like carefully designed structures that actually function within the story. Secret passages, hidden mechanisms, clever constructions. Everything looks believable and well thought out. Whether those were elaborate sets or enhanced with CGI, the result on screen looks incredibly convincing. Even the dust floating in the air during certain scenes somehow looks realistic. It is the kind of detail that quietly elevates the whole production.
Zang Hai’s preparation for revenge was also far more intense than I expected. The bone cutting face alteration alone caught me completely off guard. I did not expect something that extreme in a costume drama. At the same time, it shows just how far he was willing to go for his revenge. Something about the face change still feels slightly strange to me, though I cannot quite explain why. Yet narratively it makes perfect sense. Revenge, in this case, demanded that he literally become someone else.
What I really appreciate about Zang Hai as a character is that despite ten years of preparation, he still feels human. When he first encounters the people responsible for destroying his life, you can see the nervousness in him. His brain is constantly working, calculating, adjusting when things go wrong. I originally expected a flawless mastermind who walks into every situation with unshakable confidence. Instead we get someone brilliant but visibly tense, someone who sweats under pressure and scrambles to find solutions. Oddly enough, that makes him feel more real.
Episode 7 delivers the first truly satisfying moment of revenge. Yang Zhen’s death was pure poetic justice. The villains originally planned to bury Zang Hai alive with other workers in the late emperor’s tomb to hide their corruption. Instead, Yang Zhen ends up taking Zang Hai’s place as the sacrifice. Watching a villain fall into his own trap is always satisfying, and this moment definitely delivered. Still, Zang Hai’s path to revenge is anything but smooth. Every step forward comes with obstacles, interference, and unexpected complications. Plans fail. Backup plans appear. Sometimes even the backup plans require another backup plan. The slow and meticulous nature of the revenge makes each success feel earned.
That being said, this drama demands your full attention. The engineering concepts, astronomical calculations, and layered political conspiracies make it impossible to watch casually. If you blink for too long, you might miss an important clue. Ironically, even though the plot is complex, the pacing can feel slow. Watching it at double speed is almost impossible because you would miss crucial details, yet watching at normal speed can sometimes feel heavy. It is the kind of drama that requires patience.
Around episode 9, the story finally starts gaining momentum, especially after Zang Hai meets Guan Feng. Suddenly the narrative feels more alive. The investigations become engaging and the mystery elements become stronger. There is also a deeply disturbing scene involving Duke Ping Jin displaying the remains of Zang Hai’s parents. The psychological cruelty of that moment is horrifying. The way Xiao Zhan portrayed Zang Hai’s reaction, the shock, the nausea, the quiet grief before he forces himself back into composure, was incredibly powerful.
Speaking of performances, Xiao Zhan absolutely carries this role. His portrayal of Zang Hai is subtle yet layered. His posture, his quiet confidence, the microexpressions that reveal fear, calculation, warmth, and cold determination. All of it works beautifully. Even small changes in his gaze tell you exactly what Zang Hai is thinking. Visuals aside, this performance relies heavily on controlled emotional nuance, and Xiao Zhan delivers that with impressive precision. Zhang Jing Yi also performs very well as Xiang An Tu. Physically she fits the role of Princess Rou Yuan, and her martial arts scenes are convincing. Her expressions are lively and expressive. However, the character herself took quite a while to grow on me. Early on she feels impulsive, demanding, and sometimes unnecessarily meddlesome. By episodes 14 and 15 she becomes more interesting as she actively helps Zang Hai and shows her own intelligence.
The chemistry between Zang Hai and Xiang An Tu develops slowly. In fact, for many episodes it feels like they are cautiously circling each other, testing the waters. When they finally begin working together, their dynamic becomes more fun. She handles action while he handles strategy. It creates a balanced partnership that is actually quite charming when it works.
Episode 10 was particularly intense. The mechanical traps, the investigation scenes with Guan Feng and Shilei, and Zang Hai’s impulsive attempt to assassinate Duke Ping Jin using a hidden weapon mechanism had me holding my breath. The tension builds beautifully. When the scene briefly shows the assassination succeeding, only to reveal that it was just Zang Hai imagining the outcome, the moment hits even harder. The failure leads to an even bigger revelation that Duke Ping Jin was not the only person involved in the massacre of Zang Hai’s family. Then the drama throws yet another curveball with the introduction of something even stranger. By episode 17, we discover the existence of monster like creatures connected to the mysterious Gui seal discovered earlier. They are not typical zombies but something equally unsettling. Suddenly the story expands into an eerie supernatural mystery layered on top of the political revenge plot.
Despite all these fascinating elements, I have to be honest about my viewing experience. As impressive as the production quality is, I often found myself struggling to start new episodes. The gloomy color palette and the heavy narrative tone sometimes made the drama feel exhausting to watch. The revenge schemes are detailed and clever, but they unfold very slowly. The romance also became a mixed element for me. While it adds emotional conflict, I sometimes found it more frustrating than engaging. Xiang An Tu in particular annoyed me in several moments, especially when her actions interfered with Zang Hai’s mission. Ironically, I often enjoyed Zang Hai’s interactions with Zhuang Zhi Xing more because their relationship felt refreshingly straightforward and mutually beneficial.
In the end, despite recognizing the incredible craftsmanship behind the drama, I decided to drop it for now. The story is rich, the acting is strong, and the production is undeniably high quality. Yet the pacing and overall heaviness made it difficult for me to stay consistently invested. That being said, this is the kind of drama that might deserve a second chance someday. Sometimes stories like this require the right mood, the right patience, and maybe a cup of tea strong enough to match the intensity of Zang Hai’s decade long revenge plan.

Lots of problems but still lots of fun.
A bit corny that the lead charachter has so much plot armour 😭 it’s a bit too much at times. Some fantastic scenes that are shot, such as a first person fight scene which was cool. Don’t like that the leads brother was killed and he didn’t get to have revenge on him. Kinda dumb. Tonnes of unrealistic scenes that take you out of the story even if they are fun. Revenge part was fun and finale was great. Some things were left unexplored, such as Yohan’s mother’s backstory, what happened to Taejoon’s girlfriend? She deserved more charachter work and exploration. Eun-Bi was a great arc as i hated her to begin then loved her by the end, i wanted to see her love with Taejoong a bit more. This could of been 16 episodes and been a lot better for it.Was this review helpful to you?
I Liked It!
So many things I loved about this drama.1. I am a fan of Sung Hoon.
1.5 Because Sung Hoon's facial hair shadow I now want to see him in a drama with full facial hair.
2. I am now a fan of Hoang Yen Chibi thanks to this drama.
3. It was short, only 1 hour 15 minutes. A nice little break easy to snack on.
I feel that for a really short drama they did a nice job of telling the story. It could have been longer with more background but I was fine without it. If I need a mental break from some of the longer heavier dramas I would consider watching this again.
Admit it, we all love seeing dramas with lots of kissing or undressed men; but it is really not necessary to tell a good story. I have heard some people review this and say there was no chemistry between the leads? What defines chemistry? Did the reviewers feel this way because of lack of kissing? Lack of ML's chest being shown the entire time? Lack of "meaningful" glances? Lack of an implied sex scene? Personally I felt the chemistry was fine. I think this drama was filmed during Covid which would account for a lot the of missing so called chemistry.
A light drama, perfect for snacking.

I’m honestly struggling because Episode 7 just wasn't enough! How am I supposed to move on after that finale? The talent displayed by the cast is top-tier, and they deserve all the awards for bringing these characters to life so beautifully. I am going to miss seeing them on my screen every week so much. I really hope the production team realizes what a masterpiece they have on their hands and gives us more series to come. This duo is too iconic to stop here! If you haven’t watched Heart Code yet, you are missing out on the best series of the year. 10/10, no notes, just pure excellence!

Too sad
I had heard about this drama for years, but never watched it because I knew the ending, and it seemed really sad, but I finally gave it a shot and I kind of regret watching it. The first half was okay although even that was really sad like she had to go through so much but at least there were like happy times with all the brothers and all of that stuff, but around the halfway point it just got sadder and sadder, I didn't see the point of killing off all of those characters. And at the end, the emperor was literally left alone when he started out with so many brothers and I know most people said that the end was heartbreaking and yes, it was heartbreaking. But also, when he said, if you're not from this world, I will go find you, I took that to mean that he would eventually show up in her real life. You know, just like that one astronomer that found her in real life so in my mind, he went to find her and they had a happy ending in the present life. But the parts that were sad were just to overwhelming in the show, it really left me with a sense of hopelessness, and the world that we live in is already so hopeless i really don't wanna feel that from the dramas that I'm watching. So if you haven't watched this yet and you are already living a hard life, I would not recommend that you watch this because honestly it was very depressing. there were only a couple happy times but the majority was them struggling and people dying and everyone, sad and angry and betraying each other. I binged it in 2 days and let's just say my eyes are so swollen and sore from crying... and whatever you do don't end it at the beginning of your day, because the rest of your day is going to feel so sad and hopeless...Was this review helpful to you?
