I don’t care, it was good

I liked this very much. The leads had great chemistry. Their relationship was based on friends to lovers and their friendship still remained even when they got together. I think that is important.

Ep 9 when Seong Moo came in the came in the pic, had me hollering 😭🤣😅 the jealous scenes took me out!!!

The dedication of the movie had be tearing up 😭 like why??? It was sweet but sad.

Yes, the Su Bin was kinda selfish but hey, he came around and loved that the FL chose herself. And he wasn’t mad at all. He finally understood why she needed to go.

3 very different stories

I love the cast of part 1 but i found it very slow, i did a rewatch before starting part 2 and felt the same as i did 1st time, slow, but wow do i love Earth and Bas and wish they had more projects together.

For the first arc, honestly the 1st 2 episodes are maybe my favourite of the whole series, i cried and was seriously worried for what was ahead. I love Tonfah and Phoon as a couple, but if you watch expecting a full trauma filled 8 episodes you will be disappointed as the momentum of the trauma drops after the 1st 2, there are still moments but not like there was in those, it then focuses on relationship building and Phoon coming out of his shell. Overall enjoyable, but i'm a sucker for the drama, and wish there was more retribution.

Arc 2, another great couple, i was interested in the story and loved Meen and Do, i just feel like they went 'whoops we forgot about the ghost story' as it kind of fell off mid-way, quite a lot feels unanswered in the side plots in this arc, but another good character growth story, although most unrealistic part is the med-school plot, the ghosts are more realistic, but it was cute.

Arc 3, probably my favourite, which i think is rare for this as the ratings are a lot lower, but the writing feels sustained throughout, the character growth is great, story is interesting and ties a few things together, also love Suer and Nao's friends to lovers slow burn. We know there is no romance from season 1 so the tension isn't there, allows you to just watch their friendship grow. I do wish there had been more of their actual relationship episodes, but can't have everything.

Overall a solid show and i would definitely recommend watching, but it's not one i will rush to rewatch as can be slow for someone that loves some hurt/comfort dramas.

This Rating is Based on Pure Entertainment Value

While I was excited when the trailer was released, I did not expect to enjoy the drama this much. Contrary to a lot of the reviews, there was not a boring moment for me in the drama. While this is far from perfect, it is definitely an all-round entertainer in my humble opinion.

STORY
The weakest aspect of the drama for sure. Though the emotional, romantic and comedic moments shine the tone of the plot lacks consistency. As some comments have pointed out, the drama tries to be a lot of things at once. While this was not a problem for me I can see why some people might appreciate more consistency. However, the pacing was good without unnecessary drama for the sake of it.

Bonus point for the action sequences (expect quite a lot of them), so well edited and choreographed, and Jung Haein was brilliant in them.

ACTING/CAST
The cast really carried the drama. No matter how silly, unrealistic, cringe or cartoonish a plot point was the actors really gave life to the characters and made whatever was happening that much more believable. Ha Young's acting is slightly wobbly sometimes, she delivers emotional and comedic scenes really well but needs some improvement in other areas. But I loved seeing her as a leading lady and the naturalness of the chemistry between her and Jung Haein was a definite highlight. Must mention Heo Sungtae as Baek Sanggil was stellar. His delivery gave much needed depth to what could have been flat villain character.

Bonus points for the character dynamic between the two main leads. It has been a while since I have watched the calm and quiet guy with the bright and bubbly girl. Jang Taeha's love towards Go Eunsae is shown in actions and gestures rather than spoken out loud and he is a man of few words, but he's not a grumpy silent type of character. Go Eunsae contrasts that beautifully, she loves loudly and unapologetically and it is refreshing to see a female lead like that, reminiscent of Im Sol from Lovely Runner for me.

If the negative reviews are holding you back but you love a good campy Kdrama I suggest you give this one try. It is definitely worth a shot, can always drop it if you are not entertained ;)

A Journey With No Uncertainty

I dropped Dream to You after episode 6. When the series ended, I went straight to the finale and watched only the last three minutes.

Happy ending. They reconciled, overcame their traumas, and ended up together.

And I immediately wondered: did anyone really expect anything different?

If I can skip six entire episodes and arrive at exactly the destination I expected, then the ending carries no real narrative uncertainty.

Which raises a more important question: what could possibly happen during those six episodes that would genuinely change the fate of this couple?

Probably plenty of things happened to them. But there is a difference between events happening and a story creating narrative uncertainty.

Some people will say that the journey was what mattered.

And I agree—when the journey offers something worth discovering.

But when that journey is built around conflicts, traumas, and narrative devices we have already seen countless times, while the destination remains obvious from miles away, predictability isn't really the problem.

The problem is that there was no compelling reason to make the journey.

Poignant, sad, and yet hopeful....with some really stellar storytelling and acting

A beautiful slice-of-life tale with flawed, mostly insecure, incessantly evasive and predictably coward queer men, running away from taking a chance at happiness and love ...and yet, our protagonist finds a way to get a foothold on life....finds the courage to be authentic, to breathe, to express and to be unafraid.....keeping hope alive, even when wading through all the bleakness of life's uncertainties and cruelties

The script, camerawork, colouring and editing...all of them are bang on, with not an ounce of flab anywhere...and the acting is absolutely stellar

Cho You Hyun is stunning in his act as Cheol Jun, a young, vulnerable, gay man who has deflected from North to South Korea, looking to find a foothold, a life and finding himself...as he cautiously explores the gay scene in Seoul as a quiet, introverted and sensitive misfit in the scene, he meets Yeong Jeon, superbly portrayed by Kim Hyun Mok....as they start getting to know each other as part of a gay group, they start off with misfires...the situation gets further compounded by insecurities, jealousy and self-doubts.....and when they are finally able to face the truth, the usual cowardice shows up and Yeong Jeon chooses to run instead of finding the courage to accept their truth and take a chance on their love...

Its both angering and heartbreaking, particularly because you are reminded of all the times you did the same - running away instead of taking a chance, even though you knew there was a real possibility.... simply because you never want to lose and face your own insecurities of not being enough, letting love slip through for the fear of losing it in future ....damn the cowardice!!!

Cho You Hyun, however, finds the courage to confess, to not flinch and then offer that spark of courage to others like him.....he finds a way to get admitted to a college, go back to the gay community space and gets past his inhibition to sing his heart's song...

The rawness and vulnerability of the storytelling makes it beautifully poignant... I also loved that so much of what goes on in this movie is via expressions, backdrops, and silences...which aptly underlines the unspoken, hidden and repression of a queer life at the margins

This is really stunning and one of the best for me in the recent times.....and that beautiful end-song gave me goosebumps....if there is hope, we go on.....

A whirlwind of emotions

Whenever my girl has the slightest moment of happiness life just hits her with a 'BOOM ENOUGH HAPPINESS FOR THIS YEAR(which literally lasts for a day or even a few hours). Next year same time okay?'
The show is incredibly appealing.
You go from one episode to another cause you want to know what's next.
The FL went through so much yet unlike most dramas, she's the one who saved herself and paved her way.
Although people found out she's not the actual Lady OK, due to her significance and impact on the people, she was not banished or anything.
Some might say she got all the punishment needed because she impersonated someone, I don't think so.
From the very beginning, she suffered so much, just because she's poor. She never did anything that would make her suffer this much. Additionally, lady OK herself was the one who told her before she died to impersonate her, so anything that happened was never her fault.
For someone whose very emotional, I couldn't stop crying throughout the series, yet some moments they were genuine and you could laugh with them(however, you know what's coming after this laugh is somber).
RECOMMENDED for the individuals who love historical k-drama's

VERY deep psychological drama, exposing the raw egotism and complacency

Discovery of Love is a very deep and sophisticated psychological drama. There is some comedy but not a lot. Acting is phenomenal. Dialogues are great. The drama resolves some deep life questions....
There is no fluff - the main characters are all successful adults. There are no villains or crazy plots. It is really ONLY about their love and overcoming their own inner obstacles to it.

I watched Discovery of Love a long time ago and then rewatched it. It is super powerful and changed my life. It is difficult but not draggy. There is a difference. it is difficult bc it goes DEEP into psyche and rooting out some very deep egoistical habits, e.g. addiction to complacency

Discovery of Love has a super profound message. It shows utmost evil and egotism and personal inner death disguised as pleasant convenience. The acting is FANTASTIC the dialogues, the scenes... wow!!!! that most slimey scene when she hides in the closet to seduce him and he takes it and forgives her cheating... wow!!!! Also it shows the process of MAKING A DECISION and then sticking to it. It shows some clarity

I didnt like the ending, I think she has not put in enough effort and has not grown enough, he had to notice she wore his bag and necklace..

I will compare DoL with a rom-com that starts as com and continues as a soapy Crazyville melodrama. 2014 kdrama Marriage Not Dating. MND on the other hand is more showy and "action packed" but a lot more shallow and eventually it is about more shallow parts of the psyche - trauma requiring someone to not be alone or to be alone, confusion, very bad communication, not being aware of what you feel, being sidetracked into dating, flirting, s.x, dating experiments, etc ... It is a very young ppl drama :) ... Every time a new person kisses you, you lose compass and wonder if THAT person is the real one lmao Very confused and very physical, driven by hormones... It addresses some childhood trauma but does not go as deep as Discovery of Love, which nails some very basic fundamental principles of egotism , e.g addiction to self-comfort and easy way out, without thinking of consequences

Marriage Not Dating makes plot out of FL not being able to say I NEED TO GO TO RESTROOM NOW and then pooping around and causing other consequences. FL is so immature..... That makes it "difficult to watch" bc it is simply stupid. Sure you can say it is a satire that tries to show externally what the characters go through internally. Sure! I take that. But imo Discovery of Love conveys a lot more by implying it, by carefully selected scenes, like FL hiding in the closet to seduce SML and he accepts it. THAT SCENE IS 100% CREEPY. It is watching deep layers of egotism unmasked.
Mariage Not Dating has so much plot bc of obvious manipulations of ML's mother and ex and FL and ML falling for it. That makes it difficult to watch bc again it is shallow simple cartoon-like, villains are 1-sided bad and ML and FL are 1-sided good. The main characters wrestle a lot more with external evil instead of their own egotism.

Discovery of Love has no fluff "stupidity" plot or 1-dimensional characters in a cartoon battle. The characters wrestle with themselves and with each other and each one of them is complex "good and bad". And they TALK and interact deeply with each other. That makes it "difficult to watch" bc it is DEEP all the way from start to end
FL is weak but she is a super crafty parasite. So she is hard to detect and uproot.

Discovery of Love is about "ordinary functional successful people without any problems".
Marriage Not Dating is a flashy drama about flamboyant and "off the charts" characters.. FL is almost alcoholic and is very promiscuous and rash, FL has 3 guys to pick from and cheats with 2, ML has 2 girls to pick from, ML's mom and ex are extreme sociopaths, etc.

Marriage Not Dating can be titled "s.x and the city" and Discovery of Love is "how to keep love alive for decades"

Discovery of Love shows deeper layers of egotism... The more quiet, polite and calm egotism is, the deeper and stronger it is... and that kind is shown in that drama
Marriage Not Dating is more raw, more "childishly naive" more "young and lacking wisdom" drama, it is drama for ppl under 20 or 25 or maybe 30 if they are really late bloomers lmao ppl who are just starting their love life and have NO experience. The drama is about STARTING the journey.
Discovery of Love is for ppl who have some love experience, walked that road a while and now finally encountered the real road blocks. The real road block is not your mother or your ex, it is YOURSELF.

Marriage Not Dating starts as a heavy duty rom com - there is so much com, it is hilarious!!!! and then goes into ... soap :) It has so much action and locomotion but we do not get to see how the characters work inside themselves, how they wrestle and how they grow. So that is why it is a difficult watch for me - bc it is SHALLOW. Her mom, his mom, his ex, her current, ... his confusion, her confusion, ..... it is a hot mess of characters and events.... but it is shallow. We do not see some deep conversations or self reflections. Well that drama starts from "i will give you money to lie that we are dating" and then progresses into "ok lets date"

Discovery of love has very little comedy... It is a drama about mature love and about turning every unturned stone to find love under it... It is a deep digging psychological drama about being true and honest with ONESELF
It starts with "I ran away from responsibility, so I force myself to pretend I am ok and I use a boy toy as a consolation prize" and "I was dumped without any explanation, I missed you for 10?yrs, now I know what to change to win your heart and I am doing it" and "She seems so nice but why do I feel so shitty and fake with her"

Eric Moon as the ML and the actor who is SML are absolutely perfect. FL actress is the same in every drama I saw her and she is always a flakey female. She was perfect for this role

HA(A)RO sur les SPEC

Nul n’ignore ma passion pour la série SPEC. Les pouvoirs spéciaux et l’occultisme y étaient parfaitement exploités, non sans humour, grâce notamment à la toute jeune Toda Erika. Elle portait véritablement cette série culte sur son unique épaule valide, pendant une seule saison qui aurait mérité d’en engendrer bien d’autres. L’appel des épisodes spéciaux puis des films a finalement été trop fort et, durant toutes ces années, les agents du service des affaires non résolues nous ont manqué.

Alors, quand AARO pointe le bout de son nez en 2024, les vieux souvenirs reviennent et l’espoir renaît. Cette série originale de Fuji TV nous plonge dans une section spécialisée chargée d’enquêter sur les phénomènes que la science ne parvient pas à expliquer. Tout en ayant, avant de lancer le premier épisode, la crainte de découvrir une énième copie ennuyante de SPEC.

Sans tout dévoiler, les similitudes sont pourtant nombreuses, notamment dans le personnage incarné par Alice Hirose. Si son interprétation reste assez classique, très propre sur elle, pas un cheveu qui dépasse, il en est tout autrement des autres membres de l’équipe. Ce n’est donc pas uniquement pour Alice que l’on s’attachera à cette série, mais pour l’ensemble des habitants de cet étrange pays des merveilles. D'autant plus que des switch scénaristiques sont légions renversant nos certitudes sur beaucoup de personnages. Et du coup d'enervant, Fujiwara tatsuya avec son petit air supérieur, devient touchant.

Les phénomènes surnaturels sont largement liés aux croyances ancestrales japonaises, comme les kamis et autres yokais. Chaque épisode permet ainsi de découvrir de nouvelles légendes, qui prennent corps au fil des enquêtes. Mais, bien sûr, cela ne veut pas dire que les apparences disent toute la vérité et chacun n’est peut-être pas celui que l’on croit. Avec une réflexion sur l'être humain bien plus perfide que les dieux.

Très imprégnée de religion shintoïste et de mythologie japonaise, la série propose également une réflexion intéressante sur notre époque. À l’heure des réseaux sociaux, les dieux semblent parfois avoir moins de pouvoir qu’un influenceur. La dépendance et l’adoration de la technologie, qui tendent à remplacer celles autrefois réservées aux dieux, deviennent ainsi un thème de plus en plus présent au fil des épisodes.

AARO est donc un bel exemple montrant que, même lorsque l’on reprend certains ingrédients qui ont fait le succès d’une vieille série, il est possible de se démarquer et d’apporter suffisamment de modernité pour que la recette fonctionne.

Pour ma part, je suis prêt à ingurgiter une saison 2, ah ben non, ils ont osez à nouveau le spécial movie pour conclure la série.

One of the Most Memorable Shows This Year!!

The ratings for this show plummeted halfway through, and I kept wondering about the reasons. Somehow, I still haven’t figured out why this show has received so much hatred. Initially, I wasn’t sold on Hyeri’s pairing with Hwang In Youp. I wondered if their chemistry would work. Surprisingly, it did and I thoroughly enjoyed watching this show. The show doesn’t have any grand premise, maybe that might be the reason why people were majorly disappointed with the storyline. The script depicts a simple reunion between two long-lost lovers who reunite a decade later. Their shared dream & ambitions play a major role in their reconciliation as they move forward to achieve them together. Another aspect that I loved was how closely this show documents the art of cinema. It was not just a journey that the main leads undertake but also their friends & colleagues.

It's worth watching!

I really enjoyed the series, the plot seemed boring at first but in the last episodes everything changed, the more I kept watching the more I wanted to watch and this is definitely something I love while watching a series.
The acting was really good and I could definitely feel the tensionand behind the screen. There are some things in the plot that seems unrealistic like a cop no noticing your friends is actually not aboard but it's a series.
I felt so sorry for Chu Tae Jeong , all these years and everyone around him betrayed him. But sometimes i feel like his character could have been written better, and I like his development.
The main lovers are soo cute, knowing each others definitely give them an another chance to live again.
Its definitely worth watching! ( sorry for any mistakes English is not my first language)

First impression

It's a sweet and light-hearted story. Classic school JBL, I personally wouldn't consider it to be an overused trope because it is still really enjoyable to watch.
It's nice to see Konishi Eito play in a BL again. For countries other than Thailand, it's pretty rare to see the same actors continuously film in BLs, but lately it's been happening more often, and i'm happy to see a change.

Episode 1-2:
* Nice and straight to the point, the name doesn't lie. On the topic of this, so far every Japanese BL with an insanely long name I've watched has been great.
* I've only seen Konishi Eito in BLs before, so I can't really know for sure if he is always like that. But his acting and the way he behaves just make me think he is just a hamster operating a human body.
* I like the friends, it's nice to see good supportive friends.

Episode 3:
* I really like Haru's brother, he seems like a really sweet and supportive older brother.
