Over the Top and Underwhelming

The drama execution ultimately undermines these intentions. The exaggerated portrayal of basketball disrupts narrative credibility and weakens viewer immersion. This stylistic excess makes it difficult to take the series seriously, preventing sustained engagement. I'm someone who enjoys action scenes and look past them flying around when fighting, but for this drama, I couldn't do that.

Although I have enjoyed Jerry Yan’s previous projects, his presence alone is insufficient to sustain interest in a lackluster script. The absence of convincing chemistry among the cast further diminishes emotional investment. Additionally, Show Lo’s portrayal of Yuan Da Ying relies heavily on overperformance, resulting in feeling inauthentic.

All that potential... for what?

Honestly, by episode 10 I started to get really tired of the plot and inconsistencies. Plus editing made keeping track of time so confusing.. For example, in one episode, Hope got beat up by Boss during the day, then we cut to Joke buying Jack a building, helping him repay his debt, and doing all this other stuff that seems like it would take more than one day to do, but then we cut back to Hope at night time still recovering from being beat up?

If it weren't for the chemistry of the main leads and sweetness of the found family with the little girl and grandma, I would have nothing to hold onto... Skipped episode 11 completely because I didn't care about the 5th misunderstanding plot line that could've been solved with a mature conversation. They all promised to communicate and not lie, so I started to get annoyed when they refused to use any common sense and communicate.

Tbh I think the issue is they try to squeeze too much in the plot. It's not that we're pressed for time (12 episodes, all 1 hour each).. it's that this show wants to be so much at once. It wants to be a heist movie, it wants to be a crime thriller, it wants to be a comedy, it wants to have a forced marriage plot, it wants to have redemption arcs for all these minor characters, it wants sooo much.. And it could have successfully done most of these things tbh if they dropped some irrelevant plotlines or side characters and added real consequences for evil actions that make sense. I don't think Save, Hope, Tattoo, AND DEFINITELY NOT ARUN (wow he had not a single consequence besides being cut off from Daddy's money) had what you would call a satisfying redemption.. The only redemption arc I enjoyed was the Coach minor character because bro genuinely apologized without expecting forgiveness in return and he faced his comeuppance with humility.

TL;DR The story has 12 1 hour episodes, but wastes our time yanking us back and forth between unbelievable character and story arcs after enticing us with all the potential it had in the first few episodes. It's a catfish! Held together by a hot main couple (YinWar carried this show fr) with good chemistry and a cute found family.

easily ten out of ten from me.

the best school romcom that i've ever watched, even better because it's a MUSICAL SERIES. the plot, the act, the singing, LIKE what are you guys doing? THAT'S SO GOOD, GOSH.

IF i have to describe the series with one word, then it'll be GREENFLAG, cause all the characters in the series scream greenflag so loud, the way they communicate with eo?? it's so rare to have that kind of good communication nowadays, even in real life.

oh, if you're searching for a really cute series that's going to make you have cuteness aggression, THIS IS IT. AAARRRGGGGHHHHH MY TWO LOSERS IN LOVE!!!!

AND, if you seek a high school series that'll make you feel the nostalgia of first love, this is it. i've rewatched this series for like 17 times? i even lost count cause i rewatched this SO MUCHHHH. SO YES, this will be my forever comfort series, worth the watch <3

So faltou o do gi e a go eun como casal assumido, essa temporada entregou migalhas deles 🥹
Acredito eu que nao vai mais ter mais outras temporadas e acho que me dou por satisfeita, principalmente por eles terem ganhado varios premios no ano passado. Vou sentir saudades

Selling out all of ARSENI for some not even guaranteed cookie is crazy

WHAT AM I GOING TO DO WITH MY LIFE NOW? First head 2 head and now me and thee. This was actually amazing and geniuely so fucking hilarious I didn't know what to do with myself. I think that a little more action would have brought this show over the top, but I liked that they didn't have BS problems and got straight to the point. Okay, I would give it a 9 (8.9) out of 10, and I am going to say what I liked, what I didn't, and then do an episode overview. If you are on the fence about this show, jump off the fence right into Phuwin's lap.

This show was so fucking fun, and oh my god, it was perfect. I do not read descriptions, but I watched the trailer so I understood what was happening, and this was SO FUCKING FUNNY and literally perfect. I think that Pond and Phuwin both did a phenomenal job with both of their characters, and something in the air (it might be age) BECAUSE THEY WERE SO FUCKING SEXY IN THIS SHOW I WAS WET THE ENTIRE TIME. The chemistry was good in this, and just everything about them was great. I don't see a lot of funny mafia boss shows, so I enjoyed this greatly. People who say that Mr. Thee was cringe, you literally DO NOT GET THE CONCEPT. He is supposed to be cirnge, he is supposed to be over the top, that is the whole point of his character, and it was so great. I think that Peach being an introvert was also really fun, because she stayed an introvert the entire time. I thought that the costumes were really good, and the same with the makeup. Everything from the sound effects to the backgrounds, it was all fucking perfect. Giving it up for our second couple, William Est. When I tell you I SCREAMED WHEN I SAW WILLIAM, I GENIUELY SCREAMED (and I ain't even about that life fr). This show and them had me smiling so fucking much, I swear. Back to them, they dynamic in this was everything I have ever dreamed of and better, whoever wrote this out, you deserve to have your ass eaten CLEAN, BACK AND FRONT I SWEAR TO GOD because that was a great dynamic and a great job. Mhoks or Moks character was really good, and I am so happy to see Est back in bodyguard roles, because I haven't seen him in one in a hot minute. Just great characters and a good dynamic with them. I liked how they didn't have bullshit issues like miscommunication or where the main couple were doing weird things; they took their time with it, and they made it genuinely good without having weird issues. Good fucking writing, I swear to god. I TRULY DON'T THINK I HONED IN ENOUGH HOW FUNNY THIS FUCKING SHOW WAS. LIKE I was pissing myself laughing, Jesus Christ. People's main criticism was that this show felt rushed, and it felt like Mr. Thee jumped the gun, BUT THAT WAS THE POINT OF HIS CHARACTER, HE DOESN'T KNOW WHAT LOVE IS OR HOW IT WORKS, HE ONLY SEES IT ON TV, SO OF COURSE HE IS GONNA JUMP THE GUN AND RUSH INTO THINGS. The lore with peach was great, and I wished they did more with it, truly wished they did. And that is all!

Our beater couple. They are one of my main criticisms of this show. I really think that they either should have written them out better or just scrapped them completely. I love Perth and Santa so much, but their toxicity in this was just awful and hard to watch whenever they came on screen. I think it has nothing to do with acting, because they did great, it just has more to do with the fact that it was just bad character writing and bad placement. Because Perth's character was so fucking toxic and abusive, and the fact oh no my family got deported, and now I won't be toxic because of that, like shut up, get the fuck out of my FACCCCEEEE. AND THE FACT HE GOT BACK WITH HIM AFTER ALL OF THE SHIT HE DID, TIME AFTER TIME, FUCK OFF. Pissed me off. Also, I think that this show should have had a little more action, and that would have pushed it over the top. They had some good action scenes, and then they just kind of faded, so I think it would have done them good to add more scenes like that. THEY JUMPED THE GUN OUT OF THE WEDDING. Like I wished they didn't do that because it kind of took away from the story a bit. They could have paced the story out better towards the middle; it felt a little awkward. And yeah, just doing more with the ending, and I think I am gonna need a special episode or something for rome and mhok and thee and peach BECAUSE THERE IS NO WAY THIS SHIT ISN'T 400000000 EPISODES. I am so sad, okay that is it.

Okay, let's look at my episode thoughts. "I need all the episodes of the show to come out right now because I’m four minutes in and I’m addicted. He and the soap opera, and he’s getting fucking clowned on my peach. And the bodyguard has to go along with it cause they get paid to do this today. I’m gonna need to be tied down waiting for this shit." "Someone mentioned that they put like 10 chapters of the novel into one episode, and the first episode felt rushed. I low-key don’t think so. I think that our mafia boss is falling in love too quickly, and that’s because he has a skewed sense of a relationship, and I think they’re showing that really well, actually. And I don’t know if they even mean to do that, but I enjoy that part. This show is an absolute ball fest. I’m having so much fun." "And I think he is so delusional because his life is shit, and I think that’s interesting. This show is lowkey such a bawl fest I can't. ROME MENTIONED I love this show so much. I might explode, oh lord." "BREAKING OUT IN SONG IS CRAZZYYYY. WILLIAMEST, IT'S A BLESSED DAY. I LOVE THEM, AND I'M SO HAPPY THEY BROUGHT THEM OUT. FUCK I DIDNT THINK THEY WERE. Oh my godddd." I THINK I PISSED MYSELF WATCHING THIS SCENE. "I think they should have spaced this show out a little better, but I am also so obsessed it's crazy, so they are doing something right. Camera catcher in the car's reflection, y'all not slick. Thee is lowkey such a good guy. Camera again in the glasses, y'all not slick. Why are we speaking in English? Mok keeps this crazy family grounded, lmao. Why are we bringing the gun out rn? Thank you to whoever prompted Pond to start flexing. Thank you. JUST GOT WAR FLASHBACKS TO OF HOLY FUCK. I love them to death, holy shit." "Thee is going through some pretty good character development right now. This episode is a little boring. Oh, speak of the devil, we have some lore. Being sent there because of abuse is, in some aspect, worse than having nobody. work yourself to death, that's the American dream." "OH FUCKKKK. Twin, you better keep your mouth shutttt. Selling out all of ARESENI for some not even guaranteed cookie is crazy. WHAT THE FUCK? They executed my boy. He actually punched him; that is crazy. Oh fuckkkk. Everything is going to shit. Praying on these two downfalls, holy moly. Perth and Santa are toxic as fuck. I wish they did more lore with the mafia and stuff. Bc I know they are gonna unleash it all at once. I love all the green-ish blue in this house; it is so elegant and nice. Also, Phuwin has me feeling some type of way right now. I don’t wanna be down bad, but his body is beyond sexy. Here comes daddy. Thee is a freak and lowkey a menace. THEY FREAKED OUT. Also, I forgot this was 10 episodes. Come on, y'all, we got this. We can do this. I love them. THEY ARE FREAKED OUT. Especially thee, he is so down bad it's embarrassing." "BROS DOING HIS JOB INSTEAD OF KISSING BOYS. A very frozen-in-time family. He loves you for your everything, and that was some good fucking writing. They are so cute, and I am going to miss them so much. PONDS DOGGGG AWEEE MY BABY." " Just realized I am smiling at grown men and there is nothing to be smiling about bc im a fat fucking chud. The singing is cringe, but it's okay because it's him. Marriage is lowkey crazy, I can't lie. THEY ARE GETTING MARRIED WHAT THE HELL? IT IS A BLESSED DAY HOLY MOLY THEY ARE SO SEXY AND HOLY FUCK. THEY ARE SO AWARE. IM GONNA DIE THE CAMEOS ARE HILARIOUS. Okay 9.5, I am gonna need a special for Mok and rome, and they jumped the gun with the wedding a bit, but other than that it would have been a 10!"

And that's it. I wish they did the ending better, but all in all, this was so fucking fun, I swear to god, and I am going to rewatch FOR SURE. Okay bye!

The best GMMTV BL in a while

I've been excited for Me & Thee ever since the pilot trailer came out because PondPhuwin are my favorite gmmtv bl couple but this series surpassed my expectations. I knew they would kill the comedy aspect and have been wanting them to have another comedy series ever since FUTS, but I never expected this series to make me cry. Peach & Plub's sibling relationship was so well written and Phuwin & Bonnie need to always play siblings idc. The only reason I didn't give this series a 10 is because of Tawan & Aran. Tawan was SO TOXIC and Aran deserved better, I love perthsanta but Tawan pissed me off so much.

So excited for the special eps and really need to see more of Thee & Plub plotting and annoying the hell out of Peach because they are truly the best trio ever (also maybe we could give Plub a girlfriend played by Emi...perhaps)

A whole buffet if I say so my self

To say I'm flabbergasted would be an understatement frfrfr. This series is well seasoned and balanced. There were so many twists I never saw coming. Overall, it’s a good, comfy, comedy, and intriguing show. Once you start watching, it really pulls you in.
I don’t want to spoil anything, so I’ll just say: y’all should go watch it—it was definitely worth my time, and I hope it will be worth yours too. Honestly, I think part of the reason I loved it so much is because of Chief Hong from Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha and the female lead, who low-key looks like Zhao Lusi from China.

IT DELIVERED WHAT IT PROMISED THE AUDIENCE

now, I don't get the hate. I saw lots of backlash and people saying that it was boring that I almost didn't give it a chance but I'm so glad I did.
Typhoon Family isn't a romance drama but it doesn't shy away from that aspect, it showed the romance between the leads in such an authentic natural way it was so refreshing to see and watch it bloom. I loved it so much and the chemistry was insane.
Typhoon Family is a drama to make you cry, laugh, and experience the hurdles and troubles life (more like Pyo and Co) throws your way. It shows that being tenacious will get you a long way.
Watching the cast grow and develop before our eyes was really satisfying as well and it's so relieving to see them have a good ending.
My only complaint is that we don't really know what happened to Hyun-jin after the time skip but overall I really loved the drama and would recommend watching it.

A highly polished production with only one flaw...

This was a pleasent surprise. While most GMMTV productions are the same old, same old this is different. I'm not a fan of the thai humor and the accompanying soundeffects, but it felt not that over compared to Ossan's Love (TH). The script was mostly good but with one flaw. I think PerthSanta was a late addition and they were just there for the fans and had not that much of an impact. Remember the first episode where PerthSanta had a fight, and Santa said to Perth "We speak later, wait at the car" - and of course that scene never came. So for me it feels like this couple was squeezed into the script without having a story to tell.

You see Pond had the time of his life acting his overdriven self and Phuwin is also a stronger character compared to all the other series they did together. Only the kissing scenes were not perfect most of the time, they really need a kissing coach. The addition of William and Est as side couple (but without a kiss yet, in maybe special episode?) was of course also to gain more momentum for the show from their fandom and a calculated strategy by GMMTV to give the fans more "food" till their next series. And of course Est delivered! The addition of the two childs also helped to give this series a more serious touch.

While the PerthSanta story arc was weak, the rest was well written and well executed. To have the GMMTV president appear in the finale was a bit too cheesy for me. Besides that, production quality was top notch and you see they had a big budget to promote their most profitable ships in the menagerie of ships.

The humor is mostly not my cup of tea, but this fairy tale was what "The Next Prince" should have been. A fairy tale which is interesting to watch, which is a bit bizarre and a bit over the top, a touch of seriousness and lots of fun!

Be prepared for a psychological shift

I started this thinking it will be some fluffy nice interpreter and actress drama. Oh boy was I wrong, as someone who binged this in a day I can guarantee you'l love it. I couldn't stop mainly because I wanted to know what was happening.
I won't even comment on the acting at this point because we know these are just great actors. But everything about this drama was just spot on for me. I loved every detail from the life altering accident making her famous overnight or maybe haha six months but like I am really amazed by that psychological perspective being added.

Cute show, not sure about the plot...

kicking off the review by saying that the visual and color grading is AMAZING. all actors did great for the show, but my endless praise for go younjung herself bc she pulled it off so well as cha muhee and do rami, truly felt like watching two different persona!

that being said... there are some parts which left me dissatisfied. i went into the show expecting strong theme about language barriers and love, and while it still touches the matter in a lot of parts, i feel like it was sidelined many times. i was sliiightly sad abt it, since i happened to be a student under a major related to linguistic, but im still glad with how they worked on the language theme!

the DID (Dissociative Identity Disorder) trope caught me off-guard, and i know people debate whether cha muhee actually suffers from it or not (given the fact that nothing was confirmed on the show), regardless of what it was... as a watcher who struggles with mental disorder I also didn't like how the show resolved with the conflicts surrounding it. i feel like in a lot of their projects... hongsis owe their actors big time!

overall, it was still a cute experience and i'd recommend to watch the show for some heart-fluttering chemistry. i absolutely loveee the mutual pining, go younjung and kim seonho were made for it!

Fun Concept, Executed Almost Perfectly

Look at that. Finally, a PondPhuwin series I actually enjoyed, specifically because of them and not any outside factors. More specifically, this is the best performance I've seen out of Pond in quite literally anything. Insane!

Let's Dive In.

With a genuinely unique concept and a strong ensemble cast balancing humor, heartbreak, and chaos, I ended up really enjoying this dramatized tale of a love-struck billionaire falling for his company’s mundane photographer. As most GMMTV formulas go, the first half is the strongest. The final 3-4 episodes are draggy, with Pond’s character, the theatrical and wildly dramatic Thee, doing most of the heavy lifting when it comes to comedy. Outside of that, it settles into something fairly routine.

This role feels tailor-made for Pond. Historically, I haven’t been a fan of his acting or line delivery, but this is the series where it finally clicks. That’s both a good and bad thing. Unless they continue casting him in over-the-top, dramatic roles, this may very well be the peak of his acting career. It’s still not perfect, but it’s a massive improvement over We Are, and especially Fish Upon the Sky.

Phuwin, on the other hand, was surprisingly underwhelming for me. I don’t think this is Pond’s overacting overshadowing him so much as Phuwin struggling to fully deliver. There's scenes where he's suppose to be crying, but not even a tear slips. Unless he's rolling his eyes at Thee's antics, or teasing his sister, his acting in this doesn't really work for me (Phuwin took his shirt off and I almost had a seizure, when did he become so perfectly fit, the literal definition of sleeper build).

The series itself is fun, fast, and sharp, with an excellent script and a budget that’s used wisely. It perfectly delivers Thee’s exaggerated quirks and warped perception of love, shaped by the soap operas he grew up watching. I'm still not completely sold on their romance (I know, sue me), one side obviously feels a lot more intensified than the other, but it's not distracting or irritable enough to bother me. I also don't think this show is primarily about the romance between Thee and Peach, which might sound insane (once again). Without Pond’s performance and Thee’s possessive, overprotective version of love, the series simply wouldn’t work.

William and Est absolutely stole the show for me. Even with limited screen time, their dynamic as Mok and Rome was the most compelling romance in the series, even when it wasn’t explicitly romantic. I love yearning. I love forbidden feelings. And I loved them. Rome being a less magnified, emotionally transparent version of Thee was a great parallel, while Mok’s stubbornness paired with subtle care made their interactions incredibly satisfying. Est’s ability to look shy and conflicted at exactly the right moments deserves special praise. I'm not even a giant Williamest fan, but their characters as Mok and Rome worked exceedingly well, where I wanted to see more of them than the leads at one point. A spin-off would be so fun, though I’m not holding my breath.

Aran and Tawan were probably the biggest tank in this. Their conflict is introduced early but barely explored until the very end, at which point I no longer cared. Because this is GMMTV, they’re handed a tidy, happy ending to what should’ve been the most raw and realistic storyline in the show. Aran should have moved on. Tawan’s jealousy disguised as love doesn’t justify the chaos he caused. And yet, suddenly, all is forgiven. Sigh. Perth, when will they hand you a role where you're not playing the stoic snippy partner? That said, I’m still very excited for Love You Teacher, where we may get to experience his range in a a way we haven't seen yet.

Can someone point me to the contract in which it's written that AJ and JJ are only allow to play the comedic best friend, usual in part with being chronically alone? Who do I have to beg to to let the chains off of them? Seriously, both these dudes are stellar performers, but GMMTV typecast them so commonly that I almost feel disrespected. Unless the twins like these quaint little roles, then proceed, I guess...

I did have a lot of fun during the final episode, though not because of the wedding where Peach apparently thought a sweater was appropriate attire. I loved how the series leaned into its reception outside the narrative, with cameos from other actors and even the CEO, which added a fun meta layer. I will be nitpicky and say it’s odd that Emi didn’t make a cameo at the end.

Ratings:

Story: 8.5/10: The strongest aspect of the series. It’s fun, ridiculous, and fully aware of what it is.

Acting: 8/10 - Pond is the standout, with Est close behind. Bonnie and Santa were also delightful. Even the smaller roles worked. Phuwin didn’t quite resonate for me here.

Music: 6/10 - Didn’t register much. I skipped Thee’s singing at the end, but I did enjoy the random musical number mid-series.

Recommendation Value: 9/10 - Go for it. This is a fun series, you'll laugh a lot, and you get to see Phuwin shirtless (although not enough). This is an easy recommendation, especially for anyone getting into BL.
