Cute sweet romance with some laughs

If you want a quick watch that will make you smile, this is a cute romance vertical drama with no brain but definitely some sweet comedy.

Song Wan hides behind a child-like persona while searching for her mother's jade pendant in order to prove she has rights to manage the Big Company. Per usual with vertical dramas there is a rushed marriage between her family and the hero, so she ends up in a marriage of convenience to wheelchair-bound Lu Ting Sheng.

Honestly, why you should watch this drama is because Song Wan is hilarious. She enters the Lu Ting Sheng's house wearing a Mario onesie and a chicken purse (the chicken purse is adorbs) and the hero leans into her wild silly antics while always treating her well (their interaction is the entire reason to watch). The outfits her and her girlfriend wear are over the top; I love the oversized black and white coat too.

A hilarious scene between the FL and ML is when they are telling each other they will divorce. Whenever their back is to the ex-boyfriend, they blow kisses to each other. Another funny scene is the competition between ML's secretary and butler - more of that please.

Of course its filled with the typical tropes: the childhood savior, the screechy sister (thankfully who asks for forgiveness in the end), the fiancée who fools around with said sister, and the evil stepmom. How the hero regains his ability to walk is laughable (not in a good way). The story doesn't bring anything new to the table.

Thankfully, the trope it does not have (which raises it a star for me) is the grapey drug that makes someone so hot they must be saved (which seems to be just a reason for non-consensual intimacy). This is rather important because Song Wan is posing as someone who acts like a child and if Lu Ting Sheng took advantage of her after their marriage I would have thrown my phone.

I watched this on IQ (US) so I think the subs were okay. The story does have plot holes and inconsistence episode to episode transitions that are a bit irritating. A little more physical romance (after they revealed their secrets to each other) would have also raised it a star. Add in a little more careful production and it would have been a 9 star for me.

How is it over already? T_T

I got around to watching this in mid august, meaning when it was almost at the halfway point of airing, didnt give it much hope and watched it basically because i had nothing better to do. HOWEVER, the first episode sparked unexpected interest and after that I binged all the episodes available and, I must admit, rewatched them many, MANY times before the next saturday rolled around. Didnt think I would actually become so in love with this series. The actors did a very good job, and as far as the story goes, it was definitely emotional at times and it is more than capable of luring you in. Its safe to say that this has taken up a lot of space in my head, and even though I know its not gonna happen, Im still silently hoping for at least a special episode. However, there are some rumors that we will be seeing the actors together again in more projects hihihi. Ill try to say the next bit without spoiling anything, okay? We all know from the synopsis that Hua is a little crazy for pretending to be an omega, but his character development, or at least back story have made the HuaSheng parts more enjoyable, even though im a die-hard LangTu fan. While we are on the topic of SWL, hes a one big headache, but a precious headache and his complex character is really beautiful once you start to notice and understand. Oh and Gao Tu, I could be a better boyfriend than him. But dont worry, at the end all is well, and even though we might not have gotten as big of an ending as we wanted, it made the happy moments all the more precious. Once I emotionally disattach myself from therse characters Ill definitely watch this again, no doubt, because I love high stress situations. If anyone reads this and considers wathing it, please do, you cant go wrong with this. Please excuse that this review was quite poorly written, but my head is no longer able to form more than 1 coherent thought for the next few days.

A mature relationship = communication ❤️

First of all, the chemistry between the ML and FL is off the charts !!! It’s really heart fluttering and gives you a very honest reminder that you’re single 😂.

But that’s not the best part of the drama. I think you really cannot overlook how much mature their relationship was in the sense that they were able to share each other’s pain and help each other heal. One of my favourite moments in the drama is when Ryan starts to paint again with Deokmi’s encouragement. She is was really a safe space for him to process his childhood trauma and come out on the other side as someone who has processed the pain of the past and had something else to live for. Similarly with Deokmi’s past hurt. I think he open up a side of her beyond what we see as Deokmi the fan girl ; and adds more colour to her life.

Much much better than the reviews say ...

I'm thinking a lot of people were in bad moods when reviewing this series. I found it to be fantastic!!!
It starts out a little creepy ... with a bloody hand that keeps appearing to crawl up Sin Yu, but later on, we completely understand it. Once we get beyond that, this really turns out to be a great story with great actors & great writing.
Bo Ah, who always shines in whatever she stars in, doesn't disappoint in this drama either. She & Ro Woon are perfect together, although you wouldn't think so at the start, but give it time.
Ha Joon also fits perfect, making a complete puzzle of an unlikely trio. When you add in a couple "evil" antagonists, and I do mean evil ... it balances out to make a perfect story. It makes you believe in past lives and how our destinies are already decided for us, whether we like it or not.
Later in the series, from episode 9 on ... What would a Korean story be without bringing in flashbacks from the Joseon Era. It works out great in explaining the entire past history of all the characters in the present time. It's extremely entertaining to watch it play out.
As you get to the final episode, I have to say, it may be one of the most satisfying finales to a series I've seen. Everything you want to see happen, it does exactly as it should. The good guys win across the board, and the bad souls that really got on your nerves since episode 1, they finally get what they deserve.
A great cast with great writing makes for great entertainment in this series!!!

A hidden gem ❤️?

A cute coming-of-age/youthful drama. Especially after watching a lot of heavy and intense story lines, watching WLFKBJ will feel like a breath of fresh air.

There’s a very natural chemistry that the 2 leads have. And a really funny and wholesome element to their relationship. Especially seeing Bok Joo grow into finding herself as a “lady” outside of her identity as a professional weightlifter, I thought was quite cute. JH is the perfect boyfriend for her, because he accepts her for all she is - as an athlete and the woman he loves. And I think it’s great to witness they’re often clumsy , but never inauthentic love story.

Great Character Development

I'll start by prefacing this by the fact that I live in the west and I'm not a 23-year old. My kids could be in college now, so I understand the complexity of human emotions and why things were the way they were in this drama.

For me, this was perfect. First part gave us the foundation to build upon. Second part allowed us to see Ming's character development. I adored the chemistry between the lead actors. And Up's acting skills are superb here. If you watch him in Lovely Writer, you'll what I'm saying. I'll probably rewatch in the future.

If you're into simple BLs with flat, green flag love interest, then this is not for you. If you're looking for a serious drama with complex, a little morally gray characters with their own faults and want to see proper character ARCs and don't get your panties twisted in a bunch, then this is for you. I appreciated the writing. One of the better BL's out there.

I appload everyone involved for pulling this off

Is this show perfect? No. Is this one of the best BLs out there? Also, no. But despite all this, I applaud to everyone involved, especially lead actors for taking the risk to get this project done. And trust me when I say it's risky, I mean. I'm from the country with the same views on queer content as China. So, I'm not going to b**ch on here why the drama lacked. I'm an older viewer and writer of queer content and even the west hasn't dared to adapt decent queer literature for TV, let alone an omegaverse source material. And we don't lack the material. Trust me. Tons of books to choose from to adapt.

So, I simply will say this, just watch it, enjoy the chemistry between actors and the magic and stop looking for things to neatpick. I don't know if there rumours are true and we'll see more projects from the sisters or the CPs, but I do hope so.

I've never been this happy to watch a queer C-drama sinceThe Untamed. And even then, they really did us dirty with the adaptation by turning it into something it was not.

P.S. I will probably rewatch this in the future. And I do not rewatch the shows or re-read the books with rare exceptions.

The cutest couple ❤️

So hard to get over the Bong-Min couple !!!

I just love how sweet their relationship is. From her genuinely hating his guts to naturally falling in love with him.

ML’s iconic lines:
1. “You need to get over your first love. Quickly”
2. “All it takes for 2 people to go from friends to lovers, is for one of those 2 people to take the first step closer”

Those lines perfectly sum up why their relationship is so precious. There’s an authenticity in how the relationship formed. He waited for her to decide whether or not she wanted to be with him, and she also gradually got over her first crush and actually experienced her first love.

I love that he doesn’t ever allow for her to dim her light , and is pretty much her biggest fan. He trained her to become stronger, but also still wants to protect her. They’re honestly the cutest !!!

A must watch

My favourite cdrama of all time!!! Where to begin! The story is a ten out of ten! I was completely wrecked after finishing the drama , couldn’t move on for days. It’s such a beautiful story !

It’ll make you believe in love, and the healing power of love. I love how steadfast Sang Zhi was in her love for Dian Jiaxu, but also how he reciprocated her love and always did his best to show up for her and take care of her. It’s beautiful to see how even in a world where he didn’t have much going on, he was able to find somebody to love him as he was and remind him that he has value.

Another added bonus is the relationship between the Sang siblings. Most iconic siblings of all time ! I loved their bickering and also genuine love for each other. It was so funny to watch !!!!!
